The Warmest Motorcycle Gear EVER

  • So warm, I can now ride all year AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME. Electric heated motorcycle gear is sooo nice. And not that goofy self powered battery kind. Proper 12v powered off the motorcycle kind. It's way more powerful and will run as long as the bike does. You do not need to be an electrician to install it. If you can change your battery you can do this, I promise. And despite costing a bit of money it and save you from buying huge bulky gear that cost even more. So will check out my kit and how to install it. Then test it out at over 100 mph in the winter!

I rode in 28f (-2c) for over an hour at highway speeds just a few days ago in this same set up. Was a bit cool, the thermal liners would have helped. But all and all I was fine. It's crazy how I can just ride pretty much all the time now. I also used this gear to go camping with a DC power supply. That video is coming soon.

I finally broke down and bought heated grips for my drz this winter and it was a life changer. I think these pants would get me where I want to be though because my legs are the only thing still getting cold.

Just some advice, you'll want an outer jacket that is good at blocking wind. If you use the heated jacket liner under something like a mesh jacket, you're still going to be cold because of the wind. Wear something that will actively block the wind, while also keeping the heat in.

    • @TheGardenSnake

Oh for sure that will help. But the heated gear is so OP you can kinda wear whatever.

i dont own heated gear, but i do ride year round in texas, i so far have just bundled up with a windbreaking rain jacket over my riding hoodie and hippo hands, but i grew up in Michigan so im used to much colder winters, so far my coldest is riding in -15 but i couldn't handle riding above 53mph, i bet with some of that heated gear i could push it a whole lot farther!

Love the content Jake! Warm riding gloves that go OVER the cuff of the jacket with an elastic pull tab to snug them up are awesome.

Years ago me and some buddies had a hour long ride back to our hotel in northern Arizona, it was about 20 degrees out. Armed with a short sleeved shirt and a summer jacket with some jeans. We were absolutely miserable. Even after a couple hours of blasting the heat I was still shaking a bit 😅. Lessons learned.

I just did an iron butt through Oregon/Washington and definitely could have used some heated gear. I am just looking into jackets now, if you can keep your core body temperature up your hands and feet *shouldn't* get cold. I have the battery powered gloves and they work pretty well, especially since I can use them off the bike, but I actually didn't wear them much since they are pretty bulky.

  • @thinkdunson

if i were to wear insulated gear at temperatures above freezing, i would be soaking wet with sweat by the time i got to work. all you should need starting out is a regular rain suit to block the wind (no insulation required, unless you are riding in below freezing conditions), and some good cold weather gloves (which would need to be heated for below freezing conditions). (also, make sure you buy ACTUAL motorcycle gloves for this. they sew the internal liner to the shell so you're not slipping a sliding on your controls.) but anyway, the other heated gear besides gloves is just too much hassle to mess with, and eventually you just get used to the cold. you'll still feel it, but it won't bother you. i don't even wear my rain suit any more, even earlier this week when it was well below 20 degrees here in Texas. i do have heated gloves (wireless, so i don't need to install them on every single bike; although they don't get as warm as wired) for when it's below freezing, but that's it.
my favorite days are around 45-50 degrees on the way home. i can wear my summer gloves, but it's cold enough that the engine feels more peppy. maybe it's psychosomatic, but it really seems like there's a difference in power. just be careful if you have very sporty tires. they won't get up to a proper operating temperature at all. i use the Michelin Road 6 because they last longer and work extremely well in all conditions.

I ride through the winters ever since I got my license. Have some heated gear, but I haven't used it for years, because I really don't need it unless the temps go below -10C. Dedicated winter gear is more useful and more reliable than any heated gear and these days are not bulky at all.

    • @TheGardenSnake

That’s good timing I was literally just looking at these this morning cuz it’s been cold as shit this winter 🥶 . I live in Tennessee and it was -15 yesterday morning when I took the dogs out , it’s not supposed to do that here 😂. But usually it’s upper 30s or 40s and it would be nice to ride without having so many layers I can barely move

love heated gear beyond the jacket liner i found some battery powered heated socks made the biggest difference on a longer ride toes get numb and is no fun.
for hands its all about the hippo hands and heated grips on low for just about all occasions.

My winter/cold setup is pretty barebones but it works for cold commute mornings with hot evenings plus general cold. I use my same summer full mesh gear and just add to it. I put a light jacket under my armour jacket for a thermal layer and I then a rain jacket over the outside. For pants I use the rain liner it came with but the rain pants my jacket came with work well too. For gloves I just wear some nitrile gloves inside to wind block and sometimes wool liners inside those though that's quite bulky. For boots I wear thick merino wool socks. Still gets cold but not aweful surprisingly considering my boots are vented. I wouldn't say I'm that comfortable but even at 30 degrees it's certainly doable for a 30ish min ride every week or 2 in the winter to keep the bike running well.

    • @TheGardenSnake
      @TheGardenSnake  5 місяців тому +1

Haha not a bad set up. I use to wear my summer gear all year too but for cold weather I got some insulated coveralls. Got them like 3 sizes too big and they went on over my gear. Also scotch guarded the whole thing up with the stuff made for tents. Blocked the wind from penetrating and even made it rain resistant. It’s kinda bulky though but I was pretty proud of that setup.

Hey jake, love the videos. I got those same sedichi gloves 7 months ago and the stitching has already gone in the right palm, had fox gloves and the velcro shit the bed after 3 months, same thing with alpinestars gloves, velcro gave up after a half a season of riding. Do any of you have any recommendations for thin form gloves that last more than a season because i am tired of spending 120-300$ a year on big name gloves that literally fall apart as soon as they break in... i hate the bulky gauntlet style gloves so that's out of the question. or do you think i just got a bad batch of sedichis because i love the fit and comfort of them... i also ride a lot in the rain. maybe its just me lol but im open to different opinions. I also highly recommend Milwaukee heated jackets for colder season riding since it runs on its own battery separate from the bike. changed my life lol

Usually I rock a leather jacket, maybe a pullover underneath if it's colder and a neckgator or what they're called. Jeans with some type of sports leggins as a second layer. And I know sacrallige sneakers. And gloves of course, with the new winter ones in the collection of 3 gloves before I throw the old ones.
