  • Dr. John Lipman of Atlanta Fibroid Center talks to his patient, who suffered 4 miscarriages due to uterine fibroids. She gave birth to a healthy, fully developed 9.6 lbs baby girl after UFE, and she got pregnant just a few weeks after the UFE procedure!
    Dr. John Lipman and his patient discuss the popular myth that women cannot get pregnant after UFE, which is not true.

    Great confirmation! I just got this done 2 days ago and I believe I made the right decision as well. Thanks for posting for the women who still want to have kids and not lose their uterus!

      That's my question. Because since UFE came out. She is the only patient with baby. I am not sure about the full truth story. But I known that not enough data and clinical trial have shown that performing UFE won't embolize the blood supply to the uterus. So it makes sense for most physicians to advise their patients to do myomectomy to be the 100% risk to embolize their uterus artery. 1000s patients conceived after myomectomy versus only one patient from UFE.

    Go glad I found your videos and the info. I am a nurse and have never heard about UFE. I had mine done in TX about 3 weeks ago. The one good thing about online communities is finding this type of info that we can use to advocate for ourselves as well as our family and patients.Thanks!

      In the 9000 or so UFE procedures that I have performed over the past ~25yrs, I have not seen a patient that was under 40 years of age that didn't resume her menstrual after UFE. Even for woman 40-45 yrs of age it is only 1-2% chance. Usually women over 45 yrs of age are not interested in fertility.

    I’m 29 and I was told Myomectomy or ufe are my only options but that Myomectomy would likely result in hysterectomy. I’m trying to have a baby and been told ufe is the safer route to preserve my uterus. Just concerning bc of all the studies i read and being told it could in some cases cause baby not to grow properly or reach full term. My doctor said something about ufe being reversed? I’m waiting to speak to radiologist for further explanation. I’m just so confused 😣

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 роки тому +1

      Myomectomy can result in hysterectomy. It also doesn't remove all of the fibroids and therefore you could be left with a lot of living fibroids which will grow after surgery. UFE treats all of the fibroids and does not risk hysterectomy so it is something to consider. The cases of the baby not growing were not due to the fact that the woman had UFE it likely happened due to advanced maternal age (>35 years). You are

    • @jaynel5656
      @jaynel5656 3 роки тому +2

      No, unfortunately a UFE procedure cannot be done during a pregnancy. If fibroids are an issue, we recommend having the UFE treatment before getting pregnant, then waiting 3 months before attempting to conceive. Dr. Lipman prefers patients return for a 3-month follow up after the UFE procedure.
