Why my old Vauxhall is better than my Porsche 911 - My Vauxhall Nova Turbo Love Story

- When you think of a fast car, what springs to mind first? A Vauxhall Nova or a Porsche 911? In this video I talk about why my Vauxhall Nova, or Corsa A if you're from Europe, is better than my Porsche 996.
And believe me it's fecking quick, well its beyond quick I'm the mentioned step dad I've been around a lot of fast motors and I'm now 64 years old and I quite honestly say its the fastest car I've ever sat in without a doubt !!!
It surprises a lot of people. Until you experience it, you just can't imagine how quick they are 😁
i used to have an RS turbo with a 2.1 zetec and cosworth management back in the day that was around 300 bhp
it was funny but quite scary at times, i found the power pretty much unusable for the most part unless you were going in a straight line already rolling lol
wish i still had her though
Love this! I still like seeing people's faces when they go in the Nova for the first time. It's definitely the wild, erratic beast of the fleet! Such good fun and I feel like there should always be one in the garage!

Ha I have a B204 300bhp Nova and couldn't agree more.....nothing gives you a bigger smile

I adore novas, I did once have a shell when I was a teenager, but sadly had to be scrapped as I had nowhere to put it and in 2002 novas weren't hard to get. I've kicked myself for 20 years.
When the time comes.
I had a Nova 1.2 "Sting" back in around 2002 and even that was pretty fun due to the low weight. It had the bodykit and bolstered seats from factory and looked good even though it was "warm" rather than a hot hatch. When we came to advertise it Dad said he had so many calls we could have sold it 20 times. 😄
Yeah even in standard form they were good cars. I have always loved them 😀
Got my first nova 1.0 for 60 euro back in may 2002. Got another 1.2 for 120 euro in September of that year aswell. If only i knew to hold on too them
Madness isnt it? I remember them being nearly out of MOT and perhaps needing a little bit of work and being forsale for £50 to £100. Back then any car like this was £100 tops with no test.

I've loved the Nova since my mum got her 87 E plate Steel Grey Antibes in 1990 when I was 7. Had a rotten GSi of my own in 2004, hidden on a street away from my house as I wasn't allowed one, and parked my 1.4 Orion outside my folks place. Sold it few months later to a mate that killed it 😐 passed up a clean version of my silver gsi in late 04 as I had a 205gti needing work at the time with the escort also. if i had bought it (£1500) i'm sure i would still have had it 🥲 had a blue Antibes since 2017, internet folks have talked me out of modding it, so its completely stock 🙄 keep the vids coming man, your red one took that crash quite well and the white sx was rapid 😂

@@DanielBall look forward to it as always 👍 the 205 i mention above was sold to a mate in 06, he sold it on and i found it last year 300miles away in Leicester, 8 owners, 15 years later and its a shell and a van full of parts. Sorrento green 89 so definitely had to get it back.🤦♂️ another drama i have caused myself 😂

Found myself with a daft grin on my face while watching this! I love my Vauxhalls. Never had an engine swapped one but I love the thought of a C20LET or Z20LET in a Nova or Corsa.
Where are you based? I think I detect a Derby/Nottingham accent.
Glad you enjoyed. I would seriously recommend one. Sadly they are getting very expensive these days. You can still find a good deal if you don't mind putting a bit of work in though.

@@DanielBall yes I've noticed prices getting a bit silly for anything of that era really. I think it's the market showing that we're not bothered about cars full of screens and electric motors. What we want is something simple and mechanical to get our thrills from. I used to have a MK4 SRi turbo Astra which someone hit and wrote off, I'd have another one of those in a heartbeat. I'd love a project car but haven't the time at the moment... one day!
Wish i didnt watch this. Got the c20xe going in and now staring at the ceiling thinking should of gone turbo.
The XE engine is still a great giggle in a Nova. 😊
