Seahawks Fans Are Feeling Playoff Vibes This Season

  • A recent poll by SB Nation says that around 70% of Seahawks fans have expectations for the team to make the playoffs in 2024. As a first year head coach, is that a reasonable expectation for Mike Macdonald? What are some of the wild card factors that are playing into a potential Wild Card match? We also take a look at one of the reasons why fans should be excited -- because there aren't a lot of teams who should be considered a "playoff lock." It's such an open playing field that even the Chicago Bears with a rookie quarterback are favorite to make the playoffs.

    One reason I can see making the playoffs is that we won't be as predictable as we have been on both sides of the ball GO HAWKS!!!

    Adam was spot on. This could be a 6 win season or an 11 win season. And either could be OK depending on what the team actually looks like.

      We need EXACT predictions in mid May!!! :)
      Seeing as we were a hair away from 10!wins last year and that coulda been 10 losses too... I tend to agree.

    I’m fine with a 7 win season as long as the team looks like it’s headed towards positive longterm progress. First year HC, DC, and an OC (with zero NFL experience). Massive roster turnover. As long as the Defense is middle of the league by mid season and the offense is viable, then I’ll be psyched to be legit divisional champs and conference contenders in 2025. Mac and the new staff get this year to transition.

      I agree they get a year regardless and I'm optimistic we can still push for the playoffs. And once you're in the dance... Ya never know!!!

    I think they can definitely make the playoffs. We still have a really good core roster, and we added a few crucial game-changers in the draft. Yes, there will be growing pains, but half of this offense has played together for years and look like they're only getting better. Defensively, we added some DOGS!! The trenches are starting to look impenetrable. I'm so stoked to see them play. There's no way that they are not going to ball out this year!

    wow that was great, so happy so see fans who aren't just Husky homers insisting Grubb is the greatest thing since sliced bread the NFL has ever seen because he had a good college offense. Been really hard to find Seahawks fans who aren't forcing the Kool Aid over UW staff and players down everyone's throat, respect for being real. Subscribed.

    Let's see if Mike can beat Pete with at least an 8 win season to start his Seahawk stint. Pete had a little advantage over Mike because of experience, but I hope Mike can do it.
    I guess Mike has a little advantage because he has a good roster for his first season.

    Personally im not worried about playoffs. Sure they would be nice, but i wont be sad if we miss out. I just want to see a good foundation laid down and effective systems put in place

      I think if we're in the thick of the hunt and miss out it will hurt because we've got some interesting contracts to think through next year... With all that said, just excited for the season!!! Go Hawks!!!

    Going to see charbonnet and ken used a lot more in a dynamic fashion. Rarely do backs last like frank gore or Adrian Peterson.

      Probs right but the Rams tend to have their guy and use him. Now, that might mean into the ground like Gurley but they aren't afraid to use a featured back in his absolute prime years. We'll see if they keep that up with Kyren in year 2 or if the Michigan back cuts into that workload a lot.

    • @ryanball2754

      That would be nice to see, but our coaches are going against NFL defenses, and they are not a cakewalk. Writing up cool plays is easy. The timing of playcalls and execution is much more difficult than a lot of people believe.

    I'm getting Texans vibes right now. Geno with protection and a bevvy of weapons to choose from. He's got every type of high level receiver on the team in every position. This d line is looking frosty. We're going to see some highlight football hits. I'm excited to see our run game defense improve. The most optimistic ceiling for me is 11-6. Floor is 8-9. Top 6 offense. Top 12 defense.

      My point was more Grubbs offense the last few years was pass heavy, however the coaching staff in their interviews have said the running game will be emphasized. We will see which wins out. Will it be more or less run heavy than Pete? I hope it’s like the early days under Pete. -Adam

    I hope but there will be wrinkles to iron out and The offensive line will probably have a learning curve. I expect a slow start strong finish. If we make the playoffs I will be pleasantly surprised. Looking more for a late run into the playoffs next yr. Stoked though looks like were on the right track.

    There's alot of people out there who are not giving any respect to the hire of Mike McDonald. They say it's a good hire but when it comes to wins and losses most of the pundits have Seattle going 500 basically saying they take a step back this year. I think that's unlikely i expect a fairly big improvement on defense and that will translate to more wins.

    • @SeaHawkersPodcast
      @SeaHawkersPodcast  Місяць тому

      Think so much of it comes down to how quickly can he get the team to the level he's after defensively? And on the offensive side... Honestly, Grubb is a big dice role. Might be amazing but we really don't know at this point.

    I just worry that the NFC is getting stronger. The Lions are no longer a gimme, the bears should be better, the rams are always a struggle, the whiners will be tough, Atlanta and Tampa could be a challenge, the Eagles are still a threat. I just don’t see a coaching staff overcoming all of it in one season, especially without drafting a team changing talent. I do think we will look better. Also way to early bets would be a great pnw propstars!

    • @SeaHawkersPodcast
      @SeaHawkersPodcast  Місяць тому

      Murphy might be field tilting but year 1 still a stretch. I still think our playoff chances are way better than +190!

      I have Over 7.5 wins (Vegas odds), but no playoffs.
      Detroit, GB, Buffalo, Miami & Jets are tough matchups, in addition to the division still being competitive.
      2022 for Geno was an anomaly, & Howell still has learning to do before chalking up postseason victories.

      I think on defense, by the second half of the year you’re correct, it’s a pro style scheme ran by pro players. My concern is more offensively with a college OC implementing a college offense with pro players. -Adam

      @@SeaHawkersPodcast There was a college coach some years back that entered the NFL and implemented his college offense. I think that dudes name Steve Spurrier. It was a massive flop, it did not work on a NFL level whatsoever. Hopefully Grubb knows that and doesn’t follow suit.
