A Nico Nico Douga search, of course! ( www.nicovideo.jp/search/%E5%88%9D%E9%9F%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%82%AF?page=2&sort=f&order=a ). Miku's first appearance in the form of a company demo appears around halfway down the page, August 29, 2007. I initially heard the tidbit from a friend, and I wanted to double-check for myself. I just searched "初音ミク" on the site and sifted through what I found. Miku released on August 31, 2007. The first videos actually relating to Miku are all from demos (which were all covers); however, after the August 31 mark, there is a large increase in Miku videos, though again, all covers or joke posts. About halfway down page 6 of the search is "White Letter", posted September 9, 2007 by GonGoss. 9 days after her release. Up until this point, everything is covers. Four days later, on September 13, "VOC@LOID in Love" (恋スルVOC@LOID) is released by OSTER Project, and yet four more days later on September 17 we get "School Water Costume" (すくーる・うぉーたー・こすちゅーむ) from Sukumizu-P. So yeh. Miku didn't really start to get popular in the West until she freaking exploded all over NND and some of her stuff got mirrored over onto YT, which is why a lot of western fans were exposed to later songs first.
The first demo was was named 01_Ballad. Hoshi no Kakera is the extended version. It was made 5 years after the original sond and it was included in the Miku 5th anniversary walkmans. (these things: www.ebay.com/p/Miku-Hatsune-Sony-Walkman-5th-Anniversary-Model-S764-Series-Black-Limited/2261160199 )
Heads up! This is NOT the first Miku song! The first Miku song was called “Hoshi no Kakera.” (Original Demo was titled “01_Ballad.”) This is actually the first FAN song! Just putting that out there for people confused.
I feel a special feeling in my stomach when I hear this song. I know this song since a few days and it can't be nostalgia... So... This song has a special aura and I love it. I'm glad it exists.
Dunno if this only happens to me, but this same thing happens to me with a *lot* of old Miku songs. Like, I will never truly know what it was like to be in the midst of the culture of Hatsune Miku back then, but looking at it from today's perspective makes you somehow miss it even though you were never there to experience it in the first place...! ...fuck, time is weird sometimes.
I’m a relatively new fan, since 2016, and old Vocaloid songs do have a very nostalgic feeling to them? They were the birth of something completely new, and they were songs to start the whole Vocaloid phenomenon, something very special in them
It’s weird to hear your guys perspectives! I like to think I started listening to vocaloid stuff back when it was just starting (2009) to take off a bit more in the rest of the world and I get so nostalgic listening to all this stuff :’)
when I first heard my cousin playing this on tik tok, I knew that this song was one of my type so I asked for the source and here I am... Also this part sounds like fireman which makes it even better 1:27
definitely didn't listen to this when it first came out, of course, but back when i was younger and had first gotten into anime, this song had popped up in my recommended. ever since then, it was my life. i set it to my alarm so i'd wake up to it every morning, i'd dance to it with my earbuds in the local supermarket, and i'd play it on my speaker every time my friends came over to my house so that they could hear it, too. fast forward a few years and i'm in a different country with a different alarm, different local supermarket, and different friends. maybe it's not the best sounding now that vocaloid's advanced so much, and maybe it has been years since i've really jammed out to this, but this song will always be my favorite song because it's the only way i can relive the memories of when my life was a bit better.
this makes me want to cry so bad that it hurts my head not because it was her first original song or something i just want to cry for some reason love this song though :]
First time listening to this and man, I gotta say, with this being one of Miku's first songs ever made, it really has a strange atmosphere to it but EXTREMELY fitting. I'm not sure what the lyrics are, but just by the visuals and the "white letter" alone (that being an empty letter sent to her) Feels like she hasn't received any music/fans from people quite yet, and the whole MV is her searching around for that (if feels that way even more so given the empty white background she's walking around in, a world not filled with color and life for her yet). From the producer's perspective making this MV, it automatically feels so loving and retrospective towards the future of Miku. It feels like "01_ballad" was the first time she was activated, and "White Letter" are her first moments in the world.
the letter itself is blank. it's the meaning you put to it that matters, just like vocoid. miku searching for the meaning and the purpose of the letter in the beginning only to realize the meaning is all around her, the soft humming if the city....the letter is a reflection of everyone.
Miku's original lore was that she was an android sent back in time to avert a bad future, so since this is the first Miku song, I like to imagine that this video is Miku exploring our world just after she arrived.
I made the last "hira hira" my SMS ringtone. Turned out nice, I recommend it to everyone addicted to the song. It has a serious flaw, though. Each SMS: "kumo no kirema kara hira hira..." can't stop myself from singing
im so sad that this has so little views compared to other songs from the same era (and even newer songs) because its so good. its incredibly important, being the first fan-written song and having come out not too long after miku’s release. yet, it seems like it’s incredibly underrated and relatively unknown despite this? idk. anyways. this is my favorite miku song and just favorite vocaloid song in general. its so good. i’m in awe every time i hear it.
If this is Miku's first original song made for her then why does nobody talk about it? or better yet why haven't they played this at any of her live shows? I'm confused.
