- "Hatsune Miku" is the first character in the Vocaloid Character
Voice Series released on August 31, 2007.
The name of the title and the character of the software was
chosen by combining Miku (Future?), Hatsu (First?), and Ne (Sound?).[citation needed] The data for the voice was created by actually sampling the voice of Saki Fujita,
a Japanese voice actress. Unlike general purpose speech synthesizers,
the software is tuned to create J-pop songs commonly heard in anime,
but it is possible to create songs from other genres.

A Nico Nico Douga search, of course! ( www.nicovideo.jp/search/%E5%88%9D%E9%9F%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%82%AF?page=2&sort=f&order=a ). Miku's first appearance in the form of a company demo appears around halfway down the page, August 29, 2007.
I initially heard the tidbit from a friend, and I wanted to double-check for myself. I just searched "初音ミク" on the site and sifted through what I found. Miku released on August 31, 2007. The first videos actually relating to Miku are all from demos (which were all covers); however, after the August 31 mark, there is a large increase in Miku videos, though again, all covers or joke posts.
About halfway down page 6 of the search is "White Letter", posted September 9, 2007 by GonGoss. 9 days after her release. Up until this point, everything is covers. Four days later, on September 13, "VOC@LOID in Love" (恋スルVOC@LOID) is released by OSTER Project, and yet four more days later on September 17 we get "School Water Costume" (すくーる・うぉーたー・こすちゅーむ) from Sukumizu-P.
So yeh. Miku didn't really start to get popular in the West until she freaking exploded all over NND and some of her stuff got mirrored over onto YT, which is why a lot of western fans were exposed to later songs first.

Hoshi no kakera is the first demo. This is the first original song made by a fan.

Heads up! This is NOT the first Miku song! The first Miku song was called “Hoshi no Kakera.” (Original Demo was titled “01_Ballad.”) This is actually the first FAN song! Just putting that out there for people confused.

Dunno if this only happens to me, but this same thing happens to me with a *lot* of old Miku songs. Like, I will never truly know what it was like to be in the midst of the culture of Hatsune Miku back then, but looking at it from today's perspective makes you somehow miss it even though you were never there to experience it in the first place...!

I’m a relatively new fan, since 2016, and old Vocaloid songs do have a very nostalgic feeling to them? They were the birth of something completely new, and they were songs to start the whole Vocaloid phenomenon, something very special in them

definitely didn't listen to this when it first came out, of course, but back when i was younger and had first gotten into anime, this song had popped up in my recommended. ever since then, it was my life. i set it to my alarm so i'd wake up to it every morning, i'd dance to it with my earbuds in the local supermarket, and i'd play it on my speaker every time my friends came over to my house so that they could hear it, too. fast forward a few years and i'm in a different country with a different alarm, different local supermarket, and different friends. maybe it's not the best sounding now that vocaloid's advanced so much, and maybe it has been years since i've really jammed out to this, but this song will always be my favorite song because it's the only way i can relive the memories of when my life was a bit better.

the letter itself is blank. it's the meaning you put to it that matters, just like vocoid. miku searching for the meaning and the purpose of the letter in the beginning only to realize the meaning is all around her, the soft humming if the city....the letter is a reflection of everyone.

15 years old huh? boy does that hit me like a bag of bricks lol back when UA-cam had “Streams” if anyone knows what I’m talking about… a friend of mine added this video to it and this is how I got introduced to Hatsune Miku and the rest is history. Recently learned GonGoss released an album featuring this song called Desktop Blue Sky so I just had to search this video up again, glad it’s still here. My favorite part was always her reaction to causing an accidental BSoD from one keystroke lol.
