My 86 year old mom’s favourite singer. She still listens to TM on her transistor and Spotify. Whatever Sahar Zaman said, I have heard from mom many times over the years… Reg Anil Biswas on his voice… etc.
A Gentleman And A Fantastic Singer, Always Well Dressed And Soft Spoken Person

Wonderful interview, Tina and Zaman! The title should be changed to have Talat Mahmood at the beginning.
My fav is raat nay kiya kiya...
His one of the best Ghazal of Majaz singing :
A song picturised on Manoj Kumar for AADMI was first recorded in Talat sir's voice but later it was given to Mahendra Kapoor ji as the actor felt Talat sir's soft voice didn't suit his character.
oh man. I also thought talat mehmood was bengali 😀
Talat was fantastic, but Rafi and Dilip were made for each other. Who sang the sad songs of Jugnu, Amar, Deedar, Udan Khatola, Madhumati.
Even today, playback singers don't get any royalty. In fact, they can't sing a single line of their own popular numbers at private concerts as the rights are owned by Music companies.
" انصاف کی ڈگر پہ بچو دکھاو چل کے
I wonder sometimes that TM was never awarded by film fair in spite of a long list of wonderful melodies perhaps he wasn't good at PR
Mai teri nazar ka suroor hoon...
There wasn’t a mention of his acting career.
Dilip Kumar's early films were Sad Songs according to Old films Stories. Then Mr.Tala Mahmood Sung 75% Songs for Dilip Kumar by the Choice of Film Director and producers also.
