These 50% silver Canadian commemoratives were issued from 1971 to 1991. They're very affordable and can often be purchased for just a dollar over melt, probably because most refiners don't want anything below 80%. In 1992, the RCM changed composition to .925 silver and prices for the newer commemoratives got noticeably higher. I collected them up to 2013, but then Canada started spamming the market with hundreds of commemoratives a year, so it lost all appeal to me. Though, I may go back and try to fill the holes in the earlier years at some point.

I love getting these 50% commemoratives for giving away as prizes at medieval combat club comps. Nice chunky silver coins for ~$10.
