@JakeAllen3 seen him a few times since this post, and no, he doesn't play modern lovers songs as far as I remember. Maybe one snuck in that i missed but i dont think so. imo he has aged like fine wine anyway.
@JakeAllen3 I don't either tbh I just see him live every chance I get and I've watched every video of him performing. It's just about his stage presence and the joy he brings. It's just him and a nylon guitar. He usually has Tommy on some simple percussion instruments, not even a full kit.
I agree! I saw him at a little club in Melbourne, errr somewhat unimaginatively called “The Club” Australia and it was such a fun night. Weirdly enough I was just randomly thinking about his Bus song this arvo and it popped up on my UA-cam feed which sent me down this rabbit hole and also confirmed my suspicions that it only does my iPad listen to me but it’s also possibly reading my mind… 😮
I saw Jonathan around 25 years ago at a Club In Vancouver, BC called the Railway Club. I really liked his irreverent style of writing. As a musician, I can hear a lot of his style in the Bare Naked Ladies, who IMHO I think are just inferior copycats.
Conan handpicked a large majority of the musical guests that would appear in the early days. I loved when he'd actually interview them. The Breeders interview is legendary.
My pleasure, Lee. Not only do you get a great song, but Jonathan's barb's at the host are very entertaining, too. Thanks for your note of appreciation!
This reminds me of my younger days going to see some unique bands/artists. I first heard his music because of Joan Jett's cover album, which covered Roadrunner. LONG ago, one of the first CDs I bought, as memory serves.
Just love the way he leans over to the fake microphone on each one.
Saw him live last night. Such a delight. Every person should go see him live. I've never seen so many happy people in a room with music!
Did he perform any of the modern lovers?

@@yummyjackalmeat dang, I may go see him soon in Nashville. I am not very familiar with his material outside of his hits & modern lovers

He sounds like Sylvester Stallone.
One Man's Chorus ADRIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What make/model guitar is he playing?? To anyone who might know
That's a Harmony, not sure what model, they were inexpensive guitars that you could order from the Sears catalog, they're collector's items now
@@Semiautodidact Actually branded Silvertone, not sure what model but could have been made by Harmony or maybe Kay
He really doesn't like the host trying to interrupt him though. Jonathan seems like a nice guy, but I feel like he has some motive against tv hosts.
neotatos mpravo
He’s right, Conan does talk too much. Can’t stop interrupting Jonathon’s flow.
Use to like Richman, but he became such a WOKE doormat. What a crap tune. Sounds like he is making it up on the spot.
he's facial expressions are just great hah
This is fucking hilarious. he's just roasting Conan. So good.
They should bring Jonathan back to cohost to be honest

"Conan the Carcarian" is what got me. Laughing so hard. I understood what he meant immediately, though it took Conan a moment lol
Conan the bad comedian, hahahaha so funny
Heck yeah
Hand over the remote Johnathan!

Two random surfer dudes, Montel Williams and Jonathan Richman all hanging out on a couch.
