*"Romantic Homicide" is meh but "Here With Me" sounds kinda nostalgic and is pretty good. This song is similar to "I Love You So" by The Walters but is way better than that.
*The lyrics of "Bloody Mary" is great, but that uncomfortably slow tempo makes it the 2nd position of the week.
*I wanted to put "The Color Violet" on the WOTW at first 'cause I hate Tory Lanez for the obvious reasons, but I think this song is not bad. The production is solid, and I hate that I like his voice.
*Hotel Ugly's voice is similar to the vocalist of Glass Animals Dave Bayley's. The lyrics is a bit too simple but it grew on me.
*Another mediocre song from Parker McCollum. I don't like his voice, but his 2019 song "Pretty Heart" is okay. I often listen to that.
*"Players" sounds boring. I've not found Coi Leray's good song yet. "Blick Blick" would make my Top 10 Worst Songs of 2022 if I made the list.
*I'm Japanese and not good at English. Sorry if you find my English mistakes.

Heck yeah, so glad Bloody Mary *finally* made it into the Hot 100!
Why is it that some acts flourish on urban stations, yet their songs never reach the Hot 100? Silk Sonic, for example, stayed 16 weeks at #1 with 'Love's Train'. It's still in the top 10 and it's been almost a year since it's debut. Another one of their songs, 'After Last Night' which also reached #1 on the urban charts, just slipped out of the top 20, after being there since August 2022. The powers that be still seem to segregate r & b from the rest of the music charts.

OK guys, I've made another year end list, and we're still sticking with the 2000s, this time with my favorite year from that decade, 2002! 1) Since "Die for You" and "Made You Look" just made it to #8 and #12, they're definitely going to make this year's Year-End chart. Where they end up depends on how much staying power they have this year!

3) Tory Lanez getting a hit in 2023 after getting convicted for shooting Megan Thee Stallion was something I wasn't expecting.
4) "Handle on You" debuting at #69 was just so fitting. I don't know why! 😆

In my opinion I think focusing on some smaller more interesting stories could be a really cool normal every week subject. Sure the gains and losses are important to talk about, but most of those happen in the lower half of the hot 100 where the distance between songs point totals is a lot smaller. I used to really look through the hot 100 myself, but recently I've just been watching this every week as well as looking at various Twitter accounts predictions and such. So for example, earlier this year I had no idea Sunroof was even making a move into the top 10 until Mark mentioned in the week it did. Because it had slow but steady gains to reach there. So I feel maybe discussing a few interesting gains or losses that aren't the full 10 spots up or down could be cool to have. Maybe that's just me though?
Finally, the charts return to normal. The Christmas takeover felt absolutely endless! 😂

What songs will come out in 4 months
Anyone think that the reason Christmas Music charts so high is businesses uses streaming for in store music rather than the radio. I don't think it's people listening to all the music.
Mark didn't mention it, so I will. Here's why Bloody Mary went viral (courtesy of Wikipedia):
(In November 2022, the song went viral after being used in videos on TikTok, depicting Wednesday Addams' (Jenna Ortega) dance from the Netflix TV series Wednesday and its fan recreations. It originated from a clip of Addams dancing to the Cramps' 1981 song "Goo Goo Muck", but with the audio replaced with "Bloody Mary". This quickly caused a massive spike in streams and on December 2, 2022, it was sent to French radio as a single, followed by a single release in Italy on December 23. On January 17, 2023, the song will be sent to US pop radio.)
Also worth noting Bloody Mary would've charted much earlier (and would probably be in the top 40/30/20 by now) if not for the Christmas music.
Also, Goo Goo Muck did get more traction, but barely any when compared to this (but that's the power of TikTok for you). I find it strange how a song that didn't appear in Wednesday is now more associated with the show than the song that actually appeared in the show, but alas. As long as the Wednesday hype is still around, this'll probably stick around for a while. May even become the next "Running Up that Hill", although I doubt it'll chart as high even with the radio push.
Edit: Should also mention that the sped-up version of Bloody Mary (which is the version of the song that's gone viral on TikTok) was also used in Netflix's teaser for season 2 of Wednesday. Glad to see that "Calm Down" is picking up as it's another one of my favorite afrobeats songs. I thought it wouldn't see continued success going into 2023 but I'm really glad it did and I hope it becomes a lasting hit so that it'll make the 2023 YE.

Next week is gonna be exciting because Ditto will probably start charting, and I am so ready for that to become a big hit. Not only since it will be the first K-pop song with korean lyrics to become a stable US hit, but also because it is a fucking awesome song

New York by Steve Aoki, Mazie, and Regard: Lovely production, nice vocals, and great lyrics. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Bel Mercy by Jengi: The opening vocal sample goes on for way too long, but other than that, this song slaps! The production and vocals are just so friggin infectious!
Dust Brothers by JPwill: A decent track with solid production, cool vocals, and good lyrics.
The Oath by French Montana and Chinx: I listened to that new French Montana mixtape, and this was my favorite track off it. The production is cool, the vocals are relaxing, and the lyrics are interesting.
PTSD by Dax: A really cool Dax track with cool production, great vocals, and awesome lyrics. Great song from a great artist.
Coffee Shop Bop by Sarah Maddack: A really fun and enjoyably quirky bop with nice production, cool vocals, and enjoyably goofy lyrics.
So What by P!NK: A classic song with awesome production, infectious vocals, and iconic lyrics. Hopefully P!nk's new album will be just as good.
A Mind-Bending Discovery by Jazz Emu: More Jazz Emu awesomeness about how potatoes can use a phone.
TANGO by Issac App: An absolute vibe with great production, solid vocals, and awesome lyrics. Definitely checking out more from this guy.
2 Wheelin It by Joey Paro: A solid rap song with great production, cool vocals, and awesome lyrics.
Nice To Meet Ya by Meghan Trainor and Nicki Minaj: An underrated Meghan Trainor track, with solid production, good vocals from Meghan Trainor, alright lyrics, and ok vocals from Nicki. Good track all around.
Red by GAWNE and Tech N9ne: An atmospheric and awesome song, with great production, cool vocals from 2 awesome artists, and great lyrics.
Ain't No Rest For The Wicked by Harrison Ash: A cool track with toe-tapping production, nice vocals, and solid lyrics. Not bad.
Bet On Us by Cheat Codes and Dolly Parton: Between this, Never Love You Again, and How Do You Love, Cheat Codes should really make a country album, because my god do they nail it!
Way Back by Skrillex, Pink Pantheress, and Trippie Redd: The production is cool, Pink and Trippie kill it, and the lyrics are cool. An interesting collab that worked out in the long end.

It's a shame that "Ditto" by NWJNS didn't debuted on Hot 100. We need more K-Pop crossover in the charts aside from BTS and BLACKPINK. Also "N**e" by (G)I-DLE debuted at Top 40 on Pop Airplay this week which is surprising.
The former really deserves to chart for a few weeks seriously. Screw Tory Lanez but hey atleast the song is fine, I guess...
Hopefully if it still gains traction, ditto can actually chart. I knew that nude was getting some airplay, but not that much, good for them!
Taeyang from Big Bang may chart in the near future with his upcoming collab with jimin from bts (if it charts that means all of bts charted on the hot 100 both as a group and with solo songs) and twice’s second English song is coming out soon as well, so maybe these might impact the charts

WOTW: Shut Up My Moms Calling (Yeah, don't like this at all. The vocals are incredibly weak, the song in general just bores me to tears, and that god-awful synth line in the chorus is what got it this spot)
DHM: The Color Violet (To be fair, this isnt all that bad. The production on this is actually really good imo. It would be better if it was given to someone who wasn't trying to do a bad Weeknd impression over it. Also, fuck Tory Lanez for very obvious reasons)
Overall, a mostly positive week for new arrivals imo.

My favorite track from "Born This Way" is easily "You And I" it's an exceptional masterpiece, but "Judas" deserved more popularity and less backlash than it got, it's underrated
Honestly the Title Track might be my favorite song from Born This Way , but You and I is a VERY close second!

Bloody Mary is going viral because of the Netflix movie of Wednesday of the Addams Family franchise and it has to do with a dance scene in the film which yes in turn made it's way to TikTok I'm glad it's getting attention anyway because it was one of the best on Born This Way (tho yes I also prefer either Hair or Americano get more attention and even Fashion of his Love but oh well I'm satisfied)

I agree something must be done to control Christmas music. It could be that labels are doing playlist payola for streaming services and people are listening to them willy-nilly because the general public doesn't really know what they want. Whenever it all falls away, it really does feel like a huge reset button.
So ends the holiday drought. Let us hope that 2023 proves to be a year with more substance than 2022.

it wasn't in the show, that scene featured an entirely different song. TikTok just made Bloody Mary more associated with the show than the song actually featured in it.

I think it's very dumb that the radio wants to act like Dawn FM doesn't exist and play Die For You instead. They keep going for TikTok songs without realizing that people don't actually want to listen to them. Also because Dawn FM is probably too good.
I mean, there are good Tik Tok songs, like Sunroof, Bad Habit, and World’s Smallest Violin.

Re-watching Wednesday made me realize just how marvelous Bloody mary is as a song from an iconic scene. It makes me happy to see it finally chart after so long and maybe it will get the same form of traction as Kate Bush last year. 💜
