The problem is that the education system is more focused about memorizing information and then regurgitating it on exams, essays, and projects.
Most people are ignorant and don’t assimilate this information.
You are not kidding.
@@awebmate memorising information is a small part of the answer... true learning is having the intelligence to:
i/take what we know and appropriately / correctly apply it to other new areas, in life or work, without being told or instructed
and furthermore, ending up with the optimum outcome from all available options (self-motivated adaptation and innovation)
ii/have the awareness of knowledge gaps and the preparedness to be continually upgrading our mental software.

DeGrasse Tyson for president, 2020!
Eh, maybe we should elect someone with political experience. Let's leave the electing of celebrities to the Republicans.
...or just someone with scientific literacy...

What makes you believe this?
Their climate model has issued nothing but failed predictions. Why does the left believe everything "science" says without investigation? It is every bit as stupid as having unquestioning devotion to the clergy.
We need energy to progress but we need to stop hurting our planet maybe we should just use solar power
Yeah, that'll ensure everything operates.
We were converting to solar power and windmill but it has slowed down due to lack of funding
Once Textron and IBM figure out the overheating problems on their solar accumulators, they'll sell us free stuff and then we can get to "business".
Dude says that he's an idiot.
@@Vinnafetish it slowed downbecause the technology of windmills and solar panel's just isn't close to what we get from coal and oil.
The problem ISN'T that people don't understand what science is. But rather, that people have grown so cynical that they don't TRUST the people providing the science. The problem is TRUST.
The various fields of scientific inquiry is simply the study of the natural world, and to learn how it functions in order to best utilize it for the betterment of us all.
@@mrtadreamer that's irrelevant if you dont trust the people "doing" the science
The trust is not there because it has been broken many times beyond repair. Also, some people don't believe stuff that is fed to them, because they can't see/experience it themselves. That's one easy way to easily get manipulated; blind trust.
thass a personal promblem
Trust is a big part of it. Part of the reason for lack of trust is the propaganda that the oil companies have been putting out for the last 50 years.
Intended to sow doubt on the causes of climate change.
You don't 'beleive' science. You question science.
Not true. Science is not a true or false, it's a process. It's not like a religion. Questioning is part of science. You can question a hypothesis, until those questions are answered with evidence and testing.
The reason we can't pass any bills on regulations for gasoline is because gas companies have all the politicans in thier pockets, both Republican and Democrat.

Too bad you cannot spell Neil.
the first thing in school that should be taught, at least by middle school, is how the scientific method works.
It works by agreeing and sucking up to politicians and money
Who are the people that don't 'believe' in climate change science ? How can you not believe in data based science ? WHAT ?
I'm no brain genius but maybe, JUST MAYBE, if you take a teeny tiny bit of EFFORT and maybe google "why do people deny climate change exists?" or "conspiracy theories about global warming" you just might actually come up with an answer to satisfy yourself. I'm a low IQ individual and even I know this?
@Ezra Goldfinkelsteinberg These people are literally incapable of finding out that what you speak is true. They literally want to be lied to and stay in their bubble lol

A number of people are saying Neil would make a great president. Usually I'm opposed to chants of celebrities for political office because popularity does not equal credentials. Non-thinkers tend to vote based on ridiculous, superficial reasons. But I might make an exception for Neil because politics is _starving_ for a scientific perspective -- whereby decisions are made based on evidence and reason, not just gut feeling, wishful thinking, mysticism, selfish gain, or cherished idealogies. Whether he'd have the tolerance for all the pressures is another question, and he'd face a battle with those who think you have to believe in some _supernatural power_ to be a good person! But he'd certainly inject some refreshing rationality into *a field rife with lawyers and business people.* He'd get my vote over any president I've seen in my 60 trips around the sun.
Bluemonsoon stop talkin shit bitch
Bluemoron... oops, a typo... how the hell did you take offense or glean political leanings from anything I said??? *It's leftist to respect evidence and rationality?* _Hahahahahahahahaha._ That's a very revealing point of view. I'm an Independent who has voted Republican several times, but because you were having a knee-jerk reaction, you didn't notice that I collectively criticized ALL presidents in the last 60 years. There are issues of science denial and ignorance on both sides of the aisle. It is *you* who brought up one specific issue, and it is you who is acting like a baby. Thanks for reinforcing my point about non-thinking people.
Really? Why? Because hes a fucking sell out that pretends that he came up with quotes that he stole from other people? Oh wait i get it because hes black right? Oh yes he would make a great president because he has black skin and has sold out utterly and totally. The man has such a ego that he continues to just spew the most retarded bullshit. That being a man of science should understand the effect the sun has on our planet. And i believe he does know this but he lies so that the talk shows will bring him on. Furthermore if you believe that "climate change" or "global warming" or whatever bullshit words they are coming up with to try and get carbon credits to be a thing so rich fucks make even more money.

You're joking, right?
@@stiimuli - Joking? Do you not understand how a jet engine works?
I love how the interviewer got fact checked by NDT right away on his first question, great job CNN.
What? When did that happen lol
Back in the late 60s when I was in college studying geography, climate/weather, geology, etc. a physics professor used the example of taking all the reels of film of all the Hollywood movies. Take all those reels of film and string them out in a line. Next hook those pieces of film together end to end. The length of a human lifetime is one frame of film in that long line. I've never forgotten that lecture to this day. As humans we have little or no concept of geologic time.
It is for this same reason that people don't have any concept of evolution. The time scale just doesn't register except in the minds of scientists who can see and understand the evidence and the objective facts. It's no wonder young earth creationists cannot grasp the concept as it relates to a book written in a mostly illiterate Iron Age Era. Too these folks the idea is just too vast.
The problem with the scale of time is what causes people to believe climate change is not real because they don't see the scale. In the new COSMOS series Dr. Tyson speaks about periods of extinction that happened over millions of years. If we blow off climate change there will eventually come a time when people say, "Oh snap!" The atmosphere will warm, oceans will rise and most of the species on earth will go extinct including humankind. Perhaps evolution over many millions of years will evolve new species who are a bit more intelligent and less self-destructive than we humans. Who knows? Earth will evolve and remain earth. We in our ignorance won't be around to see it. Climate change is fake? I think I'd be a bit more concerned about that conclusion.
TrikesterHal You are right about extinction events and these can be seen in the records. What's also noticeable is a continual downward trend of CO2. Humans are merely putting back something that's at geological record low levels that was once there already. While pollution is bad and there are negative effects the pros and cons must be looked at instead of the idea of anti human behaviour. Denying developing countries cheap abundant energy by virtue signalling westerners based on a consensus that doesn't actually exist except in a buddy buddy community of agreeing or being fired. Science welcomes criticism to get better. The MSM are pushing this narrative but behind the scenes the political establishment are polarising Americans in unfair ways for both sides. Decisions that affect humanity need to consider the + and - points otherwise THEN we fail.
Net warming is +0.8C or something crazy if looking at >70failed projections.
CO2 follows warming as seen here:
www.researchgate.net/profile/J-E_Solheim/publication/257343053_The_phase_relation_between_atmospheric_carbon_dioxide_and_global_temperature/links/56e4581508ae68afa1106148/The-phase-relation-between-atmospheric-carbon-dioxide-and-global-temperature.pdf
It frustrates me and others how the media and even NASA use Ice core data for a CO2 proxy even though is monotonic and barely fluctuates. The reasons for this are known.
Sites like carbon brief and sceptical science are one and the same side of a coin. Research clearly shows their bias and adding one data set here from another there to paint a picture they want to is far from scientific. They then make predictions with models that are so ridiculous it beggars belief. They also make false claims about past CO2 levels never being over 280 PPM.
Steinthorsdottir, M., Wohlfarth, B., Kylander, M. E., Blaauw, M., & Reimer, P. J. (2013). Stomatal proxy record of CO 2 concentrations from the last termination suggests an important role for CO 2 at climate change transitions. Quaternary science reviews, 68, 43-58.
