That’s ridiculous you feel that way. Fair is fair, why not stand up for all those wrongfully being sanctioned? I’ve seen it on both sides, and I truly believe the courts over step their boundaries. No parent man or woman should have to live a life less than. My wife makes 17 an hour and pays almost $400 in child support. Her ex lied falsified documents and created a picture that didn’t exist. I know a man who paid $1000 a month as a Practical Nurse for a child he had full time. Don’t be myopic with your view, but rather respect individual situations for what they are.

Judging by the way some extremely famous litigants are treated in the US, it seems that delaying, whining, contempt and lying are surefire ways to get their way, whatever sex they are.

Extremely famous litigants make up less than 1% of these cases and do not represent the norm. only if child support payments are at least 2 years overdue or the amount is over $10,000 . That applies to men and women. The courts will also bend over backwards to let you start making payments and stay out of jail. But I agree that the laws should apply equally.

The one glaring thing that everybody jumping on the woman isn't acknowledging is she is representing herself and the father is paying an attorney. A family court judge is a lot more hesitant to holding one party over the fire when they are not represented and the other party is. Especially when it's the party with the attorney claiming financial hardship. If she continues being dishonest the court will eventually whack her good. Especially if she does get an attorney. It is interesting that she is attempting to pull the wool over the judges eyes with the not paying property tax or home owners insurance. I have no doubt the judge would know those are 99% of the time figured into the mortgage. After the financial crisis when so many mortgage companies got left holding useless paper because of tax sales in states that offer warranty deeds they started just including them in mortgage payments.

Putting the funds in a regular account with both of their names gives zero protections. The bank would allow one person named in the account to withdraw all the funds without the other person prior authorization.

The bank absolutely allows one person to withdraw all of the money. The bank typically will not allow one person to close the account, but they absolutely will let one of the joint holders to withdraw all of the money and allow one person to remove themselves from the account.

Depends on the terms. John Doe and Jane Doe, can require both signatures. John Doe or Jane Doe, only one signature. My parents kept all titles and accounts in terms that required both signatures. They move $ to a separate single name account for miscellaneous expenses: groceries, pharmacy etc. For vehicles, real estate, investments, policies and all that-both names. Bills:mortgage, utilities, premiums they always sat down twice a month and kept everything current with payments. The set up their credit cards so each could use at will for emergencies.
It absolutely sounds like she wanted a standard account.. she clearly stated the bank could notify the other party of any money that had been withdrawn. Not a 2 party signature requirement.

My aunt provided free child care for my cousin's kids for YEARS. And my cousin wasn't even grateful. She complained ALL THE TIME that her parents weren't raising HER kids right.
It's not as if they couldn't afford child care, either. Her husband was a computer engineer and she also worked for a large software company, and they lived in an exclusive neighborhood in a Seattle suburb.

I worked two jobs to keep housing, food and clothes for my kids. Their dad sent child support sporadically. We didn’t live in the lap of luxury but their needs were met and occasionally a want. They are adults now and are doing well for themselves.
I think it's funny how Mother's demand child support because they can't do it by their selfs..but they also say they can do what a man can do. This actually proves women can't do what a man can do.. 😂😂😂

How would a guy deal with this? He would live out of his vehicle, put the house on the market, find a gym with a shower and locker area, and hope like hell the house sells in 30 days.

But she mentioned she has to pay her share of the taxes you say? Exactly. She doesn't even have a mortgage. Because the taxes are wrapped up in the mortgage. No mortgage. You pay the taxes. Thus she has no mortgage.
She is in the situation she is in because she won't move out of the house. Because she doesn't have enough money for rent. Hell, based on her testimony she doesn't even have 50 percent of the money to cover taxes. And as half owner of the house it is her right to continue to live there. Even though she cannot afford it.
Unless the house is a damn mansion, her part of the tax bill would be a few hundred bucks a month.
Based on reading between the lines of all the testimony, she burnt through the financial assets. More than her fair share. And she is desperate for more money because she is broke.
I have no idea whose idea the divorce was, but considering 80% of all divorces are started by women, I'd say whatever plan she had went to $%^& real quick.

I’ve never understood that in these divorces / custody cases, the women aren’t employed and reasonably can’t take care of the children, but somehow gets custody? And the house she can’t afford to pay the mortgage or bills on? The car she can’t afford payments or insurance on? It makes 0 sense.

This lawyer also works as a pro tem judge in Cowlitz county, Washington. I saw her in a contempt hearing for a mother not following a parenting plan, and Ms Baldwin let her have it. It was good.
If she were my lawyer I wouldn't worry about a thing. She's good. I also saw that hearing which freaked me out when I saw this one because I didn't know people could do both at the same time and thought I was losing my mind. Lol.

It is (edited to add ) infuriating. Grandparents deserve to have the relationship they want with the grandchildren. If he works 40 hours a week the grandparents have the kids 50 hours a week.

They would have definitely dropped the hammer on the man. Women can do whatever they want and nothing happens. This chick I got pregnant and told her I don’t want her kid took me to court and submitted hand written receipts. The judge accepted that and made my obligation go from 150 a week to 330 a week. Not only that I have other kids. My income is between 52k - 55k a year and the courts made it look like I was making 60k a year. The mother makes 60k but wants me to pay her money for a kid she wanted

My son has tons on his baby momma but so concerned about out going to court and things getting worse.. my son took parenting class b4 baby born, kicked out of hospital when baby was born wanted to sign birth certificate and then dragged out when he could meet his daughter.. he took her to court and judge ignored she hid child & alienated him even though he took her - judge noticed all the wild actions on baby momma part but still made my son jump thru hoops.. he is a engineer she’s never had job & afraid to leave home.. even took child out of kindergarten when that decision was 50/50 decision 3 days later sent msg she was thinking about it - she already did it !! School is on my son’s side.. isolating & alienating father & family !!

Commissioner Baldwin is the best. I love how she fights for her clients. When she is presiding, she is NEVER biased towards men NOR women. She is very fair. Lots of actual judges should learn from her.

I was told to make payments to ex-wife that totaled more than I was making at the time. The judge said to get a second job. I was in the Navy at the time on sea-duty on a ship. Any idea how hard it would be to get a second job in that situation?

@@justsayin1991 She's actually a lawyer most of the time. Her and her husband have a legal practice in Washington. But she has also been a pro tem judge, I'm assuming outside of the jurisdiction of where she practices as an attorney. Otherwise there would be possible conflicts of interest.

A friend of mine had his wife pull the same kind of game. She ending up getting use of the house, she made no payments, the house went into foreclosure which he was unable to stop and lost the house, meanwhile she lived rent free in the house for almost a year while collecting $1500 a month child support off him. In the end the court did nothing.
That is the same thing that happened to my older brother, the judge blamed my brother for the house up keep, yet he wasn’t allowed at the house! We made sure my brother won custody of all three kids including his stepson! SMH! Just because they give birth doesn’t make them a mother!
Stories like your friends just get me so frustrated. I am a woman, and certainly sympathize when a man takes advantage of a woman. That said, the unfairness of our legal system toward men in family court situations just irk the heck outa me. Women tend to think that they should be able to live at the same level they enjoyed when it was a single household, often with two incomes. Reality dictates that the same income can not support two households with additional expenses at the same level. (When I say additional expenses it is often necessary to introduce professional child care that may have not been necessary before if the the family lived on only one income, transportation costs of getting the child from one household to the other for visitation, extra clothing so the children don't have to pack around suitcases every weekend etc.) I am truly sorry your friend was so horribly treated.

This why I chose to adopt and never get married, I will never let a woman move into my house, I don't want a girlfriend. At the rnd of the day I very happy children, my sanity and money.
I was dragged into child support court for $2.60, yes two dollars and sixty cents.. they told me that I was responsible for it even if I didn't make enough money for them to garnish it from my pay. (they are only allowed to take 60% of your paycheck). Which meant a day off from work and a 40 mile drive to where she filed for our divorce. She didn't even show up. I was treated like a criminal. To see this woman get sympathy for lying to the court runs shivers up my spine.

The judge should have ordered her to provide her pay stubs. She likes playing games. She thought this was going to go her way and it didn't. She still wants to keep the house, keep the kids, so the dad would have to pay for everything. I'm wondering if she quit one of the two jobs she had before or after the dad got custody? I am also wondering why he got custody and not her.

I work in Family Law. Dads don't usually get the breaks. This woman has gotten alot of breaks and needs to deal with it.
Welcome to feeling how every man that gets the short end of the stick feels. My first marriage I gave my ex and the kids the house with the understanding she would pay the mortgage. She quit her job and let the payments fall behind. I forced her to move out and sold the house just before it went into foreclosure. Apparently this happens wayyyyyy too often.

This is a classic female response to men's problems - instead of reading it, understanding and offering support or moving on you went defensive, as if he personally attacked you. At no point did he generalise or even insinuate all women, he just said what happened to him and that it happens a lot. You yourself have male friends you know that have been screwed over but you chose to basically tell someone to shutup cos not all women when they decided to open up about something that happened to them. Exactly! Her providing a declaration is NOT the same as providing proof, bank records, pay stubs. It sounds like she has played games trying to keep the house/proceeds, lost custody at some point expecting to get it back and him paying her child support again. Her evasiveness in providing proof is calculated and deliberate. BTW, I'm a woman and most men get hosed in family court.
Take one look at who is on every one of these webcalls and you'll understand they skew towards women. The justice system is infiltrated with people who love drama and decided to mediate it professionally

Why doesn't the judge hold the mother contempt if she doesn't supply bank statements, w2's and actual bills paid you the court.
She wanted a regular account because either party can withdraw money or close the account. The trust fund requires a document from the trustee to withdraw funds. To obtain the document they most likely will ask what the funds are for. I had a mother once try to withdraw from her child's trust fund to pay for the registration fees for her car. The child was 6 years old so... Yes, the request was denied for that.
You are thinking of a family trust. Solicitors trust account is different. There aren’t defined beneficiaries. It’s controlled by the solicitors and paid out per the terms of a contract or court order. So for example if a person sells a house the solicitor receives the sale proceeds from the buyer deposits it to the trust account them disperses all expenses from that account (legal fees, property taxes owed ect..) then pays out the net proceeds to the sellers.

It’s a good thing Baldwin eventually became a judge. Fassett is pretty notorious for delays, not acting on clear evidence and constantly trying to empathize when blatant disrespect is being given to the court process. Baldwin is a breath of fresh air of cutting through BS.

This mother MUST get herself a lawyer ASAP. Dad and his lawyer are steam rolling over her!! He's living at home, pays no rent or mortgage, she pays him $700 in child support, he makes double what she makes and he can't afford daycare? Yeah right! Not to mention the proceeds of the house sale are going to be split 50/50 yet she's living there and paying 100% of the mortgage payments at this point AND his lawyer wouldn't even agree to splitting home improvements cost at 50% smfh

And that includes anything else she claims, like any payment or non-payment of his obligations. In addition, she claimed she'd have no problems paying the mortgage (and thus prevented the sale of the house).

She's drawn out the court process on her own, she can't afford an attorney cause she can't afford the house she delayed in selling for over a year(she has been fighting the sale of the house), she has been in contempt and even had a motion to compel cause she refuses to hand over financial documents about her income and expenses, she's falsified phone records to lie to the court that she wasn't in communication with a domestic violence and child abuser bf, she lost custody of her kids, this woman is getting what she deserves

A judge in my divorce, knowing the father of my kids wasn't paying support, forced us to go together to the bank to divide our tax refund check. I signed the check after my ex husband signed and the teller put the entire amount on the counter and my ex grabbed the money and took off saying he wouldn't give me anything..courts have historically been WRONG in these cases! The wife here is most definitely trying to pull a fast one here. I hope the dad prevails here!!

The entire situation became readily obvious once the mother accidentally outed herself by saying "I thought things were going to be different by now, that I would get the kids back and be getting child support"
This woman is an example of what this system creats. As the mother she absolutely expected to get custody of the children and the house and child support, she appears surprised that she didn't, and frankly so am I. Fathers pay child support to support their child. Unfortunately one of the main reasons that this system needs full review is because it not only unfairly favours the woman in virtually every instance, but it appears because of the way the system is set up it allows for nearly all mothers to believe that child support is basically their money and they should be able to grab as much as possible whilst minimising their liability for child support. They seem to see it as a monthly wage for them to live off, that they can choose how to spend, rather than understand that the money is specifically provided to allow the father to support their child remotely. Surely its quite logical here to assume that the only possible reason that this woman wants the money provided in a normal bank account rather than a trust for the children, is so that she can access the money and spend it however she chooses without restrictions, which would seem to be entirely inappropriate.
So rent/mortgage, food, insurance,c clothing, electric etc.... these are what child support is to be spent on. What do you think child support should be spent on? I find your comment to be absurd. I get child support to use on things listed above from a man that rarely sees his kids which is not what the parenting time agreement states. I am supporting them emotionally, educationally, spiritually, financially, etc. 345 days a year. Why shouldn't their Father at least contribute financially when he isn't even seeing his his 10,% of the days in a year?

In 99% of cases the father has no chance of getting custody even if he wants it so is always going to have to pay child support. Many women seem to think that this system automatically entitles them to get as much money as possible out of their ex not just to fund the childrens lifestyles but also to fund their own activities and lifestyle and so they spend the child support to cover their own costs as well as the childrens. The system is wrong because I don't see any reason why any man should have to pay anything to fund aspects of their exs life, once they cover the part for their children, why should they pay your part of the rent or bills or food etc?

I divorced, allowed ex to live in the home I bought with VA (served in USAF) I paid house payment, utilities, for his living expenses as well as my own, and the child's. I at times worked fulltime with occasional part time jobs, afternoon and night shift slept when child was in school. took and picked up child. When I worked child stayed with friend who had children close to his age. Not all women are like that. Did all that without assist from government or ex.

This woman sounds like my ex-wife. She has dragged me back into court constantly for the last five years since the divorce trying to get the divorce reversed, trying to get full custody, trying to get child support, and she has been slapped down by the court every single time but it continues to happen. she pleads poverty in court and in public yet she lives in a $1.2 million house and has a fully paid for vacation home in the Caribbean and I gave her $5000 a month. She is on her sixth or seventh attorney having been fired by every single one. I’m happy to say we have a final trial coming up in March that I have been waiting for for all these years to put this thing to bed once and for all.
I wish you luck! I divorced my husband due to his many infidelities. I had to move across the state to take care of my elderly father. My daughter wanted to stay with her father because she wanted to stay in her school. I paid child support until she graduated from high school. She spent many weekends with me! Her father eventually married his Secretary. I remained cordial with my husband because I was the one who asked for the divorce and I wanted my daughter to thrive. Sadly my daughter died on 9/27/2018 from non-Hodgkin lymphoma that she got because she went to work near the World Trade Center on 9/11. Both her father and I were with her when she died. I am glad that she maintained a great relationship with both of us. I wish you all the best!!!
