I don't think I've commented on here before but I've been watching the videos for a while and wanted to say congrats! I've also gone back to uni this year to do a masters in literature after a 5 year break in my case, so I know how exciting and nerve wracking it can be. Hope you find your groove soon and enjoy it! And I'm definitely interested to see your reading lists.
Hello! Thanks for saying hello for the first time. Lovely hearing from you :) That’s exciting - All the best to your study and uni! Will share reading lists in upcoming videos.
As an English Lit. lecturer it breaks my heart to hear you say essential reading is availble as online-only resources. Even a decade ago when I was an undergrad the library had to carry all course texts; it's all-too-common now for departments to use online-only resources because they think it's what the students want [not true from my experience!]. Please do keep shaing your impressions of the course and how it changes your appreciation of Eng Lit, I'm very curious.
I'm so happy for you Nicole! This is what you should be doing. Your gift for unique analysis and personal insight shines through you with a contagious energy that is needed in the world now more than ever.
Congratulations and so exciting! I went to Durham, and it’s a wonderful place to study. And ah, you are at Trevs! I went to Josephine Butler College, across the road, and had some friends at Trevs.
After watching almost all your videos, I think it's time to thank you for the great content for literature as a former graduate studying English Literature. They are quite helpful when it comes to selecting different editions and learning more information. And just you know, as a Chinese student, your accent is so lovely and familiar. Wish you all the best! 十分感谢!万事如意~
Congratulations Nicole - good luck with the course. Look forward to seeing the reading list. Would also like to hear about how you intend to manage your time and set your schedule alongside your working job. I can imagine it's going to be challenging but for sure interesting :)
Thank you! Will share the reading lists and the books I read around the primary text in upcoming videos :) thank you for being interested! It’s been indeed a challenge managing my time, especially at the beginning of the year. Just trying hard to keep up :)
@@adayofsmallthings I thought you were just going to start your course this month but maybe I didn't catch all of the previous updates. Good luck anyway, I know it's not easy studying alongside working...
I just found your channel today and really enjoyed all the contents. I wish you all the best in your new adventure and look forward to hearing your insights and thoughts on literatures and books down the road! :D
Congratulations Nicole, so happy for you and lucky us getting to hear about your studies over the next two years. It warms my heart hearing your love for the North East, I’m from here so I’m biased but I’m glad you love it here too!
That's so awesome. Talk about BEING in your element. I imagine you will contribute a great deal to your class. Also, I'm looking forward to what you bring back to us via your video presentations.
Hello! Thank you that's so kind :) I have been enjoying the seminars and contributing a bit - just now sure how helpful it is to others, but I'm having fun myself lol
How wonderful to be back at University!! You are embarking on a great adventure. Enjoy each chapter as it unfolds!! We will be watching from the sidelines and cheering you on!!
Wonderful news, Nicole! I'm so excited for you and I think you are really going to enjoy this course very much. Durham city looks beautiful and the campus looks like a lovely working/studying environment!
I enjoyed this vlog immensely, I really miss studying in this way ( not sure I miss the essay deadlines though). But I love learning, and the buzz in the air at the beginning of an academic term. Excited to learn along with you 😊
Ooh how exciting!!! Your joy and excitement is so infectious… def would be following along and do share your reading list! Enjoy being a Uni student all over again… all the v best!
Congratulations!!! What a wonderful dream that came true 👏 I am most certainly interested in your reading list, in fact, I already found a copy of Writing Essays About Literature, so keep them coming, please 🙏 Enjoy all the study and reading!
wow, wow! I'm so excited for you 😍 I spent a day in Durham some years ago and I was mesmerized. I felt transported to another world and another time and I've dreamed of going back for years. Congratulations 👏🎉🙌
Happy to see you are back to school!! Am looking forward to hearing how your classes go. As an American, the term "module" does not mean much. Are they classes? Your reading lists would be very interesting! Transformation of Fiction sounds interesting, but the Creative Non Fiction writing course has me interested.. And when it comes to non fiction: "Read your Hazlitt!" Also, if you get the chance read Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis and Jill by Philip Larkin, both novels about college life. Good luck!!
Yes I think it’s the same thing as ‘subject’, ‘class’ and ‘course’? I will share the reading lists in upcoming videos :) Yes to Hazlitt - oh dear so much to read! Ooh interesting - I heard of them both but haven’t read anything by them. Thank you!
Congratulations and good luck! I've had the pleasure of seeing both David and Ben Crystal speak on their specific specialisms and they're different in style but both great, if you ever get the chance to see the father speak somewhere on quirks of the English language and its history I think you'd enjoy it. (And, for the algorithm: 🧐)
Congratulations, the course sounds brilliant! Looking forward to following your journey at Durham. I’m a uni study skills tutor, feel free to ask for tips!
Have you found the funky moving bookshelves in that library yet? Law used Palace Green library so I suspect you've already been in the main one more than I managed in 4 years 🤣
Congratulations 🎉 so happy for you. Do you still live home within the need to find a student dorm? weirdly enough, last night I dreamt of having been accepted to a university, but for a course (business) which I had no interest in😂

I prefer physical books too. Also some of the ebooks look a bit awkward 🤔
Will share - thank you for being interested!
