- Motor just humming - impeller coupling is good. The actual motor is defective. Repairing the actual circulator is NOT cost effective.
Replaced with zero maintenance Taco 0015e circulator Like this one: amzn.to/3qlbu1p
B&G 100's have their purpose in some applications - not warranted in most residential settings.
Mike there was a little learning curve with the Wago"s but now you can see the advantage especially if you are in a situation were you only have one or two inchs of wire to work with , (They have there place ) side note Milwaukee makes a wire striper that is really outstanding they call them the 6in ones they look like a pair of needle nose Pliers , I just used them on a job and its hard to believe, wire stripers can be improved so much .. we learn every day , Love the Chanel
Fast repair! You need the head light! Who knows where that light you had in your mouth has been!
Ollie, on the drain addict channel carries his in his mouth....specially when unblocking toilet drains.🤢🤢🤤
@@Mercmad holy crap I wouldnt want to put anything he touched near my body.. how much corn do those darn aussies flush down the tube? lol
I do love the channel but when are you getting a proper camera please 🤣🤣
Spent $1600.00 at truetech tools today bought the testo 300 and 510 i told them i blame you and Steve Lav. lol I know you dont like the testo 300 but i have never used the testo 320 so hope i like it.
Thumbs up for using Wago! Awesome stuff, e.g. lets you disconnect any hardwired device by simply disconnecting the live device-sided wire first, without searching for breakers and stuff. Consider trying the modern Wago221. This is the old Wago222, which is rather chubby and won't let you check proper insertion.
Sorry I am old school and love the B&G 100 series. They outlast the Taco pumps. They outlast the boilers if you oil them yearly!
Mikey pipes you should get you a set of "husky" open end ratchet wrenches make swappimg out circulating pumps much faster
Not a fan of kobalt but whatever gets the job done effectively!!
Surprised you didn’t do a combustion test...if you’re not testing you’re guessing.also it doesn’t have a double swing DOS and no spill switch on DOS.
25 years ago,I went on a call for noise from system,so I get there and the people called Niagara Mohawk,(gas co). They put in a new thermocouple, and while the guy was there he looked at the pump,he told the elderly homeowner tgat he found a bunch of cotton inside the pump and pulled it all out! The cotton was the oil wicking! Idiot
Ever looked under the oil cap in series 100
You gonna have a Wago party next week, big box coming!
I just like shopping,I'm bored! I did by some new tools today.Malco 4in1,magnetic LED light,and s9me umpire brushes,new vacuum pump,and a new Rothenberger auto swage tool,it's awsome!
Oh snd,the headlamps are so you can not put the big black thing in your mouth,it'll chip your teeth!
Use "Right hand thumb rule" for tightening and loosening. It always works!
5/8 & 11/16 wrenches. Ditch the channel locks.
Otherwise, good job buddy
Look into upgrading to Knipex Plier Wrench and ditch those knock off channel locks on circ bolts .
Should get some wera joker self setting wrenches! I think you'll really enjoy them!
Folks keep talking about the camera! Someone should Amazon him a proper camera!
2 things about wago. If they are difficult to open, open them one lever at a time. The second thing is to make sure to press them down twice to make sure they are surely down especially on thinner wires.
WD-40 isn't a penetrant. PB Blaster is my go to juice.
I had a coworker once that was replacing blower wheel bearings on a rooftop unit and sprayed PB blaster on everything, it worked great until he fired the unit back up and cleared out the building, everyone evacuated, fire dept came, it was a mess. PB is very strong smelling stuff.
I never have seen you working on a Tempstar gas forced air furnace. I have one and have been told some parts are no longer available. Mine is about 17 years old.
Like the new style water Circulator How does it com pare to Taco? Grundfos
Hey buddy what’s the best oil fired boiler out there for Long Island in your opinion
Would a Taco 007 pump work on that system?
What app do you use for work? My company uses one called service bridge.
Oooh,series 100! Nice
Nice repair Mike. I think they make a GoPro that goes in you’re mouth, might want to look into it😂😂😂
I guess that's better than having a GooPro in there. Lol
The circulator is nicer then the boiler. Lol
Use "Right hand thumb rule" for tightening and loosening. It always works!
I just googled this and it's going to make everything so much easier... I am new to the trade and am on my last semester of school for plumbing and hvac. Can't wait to try this out!
@@jordankalinas3587 Glad to help! Learned it in my Mechanical Engineering Physics class many years ago. Retired now. Best of luck in your new career.
@@russellhill5959 thank you! I hope you are enjoying your retirement!
Yo Mikey Pipes, did you see the Steve lav video with the toilet and the old man? I almost shit myself laughing at that video.
@@PipeDoctor something about how he should invest in a "power flush" so that the "Flintstone" will be the town's responsibility
Also have you ever tried kroil its a pretty good penetrating oil for rusted on hardware. Comes in an orange can
only thing is your exposing a new ECM motor to an old hydronic system on the return side
Why would anybody rebuild it?! You should allow Steven to do repairs like that. Hands on.
one way of getting rid of those "hot" taco pumps you bought by the case from Minnesota, oh she's hot
I have the same Kline ratchet screwdriver. I love it so much 💜 🪛
Bought one also, get it Monday. Have a great week . Really enjoy Mikey Pipes.
Mikey pipes, new subscriber here. Wish I could hit that subscribe button over and over. Fantastic content!!! You guys are Awesome!!!! Keep it Going!!!
I'm running 007e's on my zones, got a real good deal on them..... what's the difference with the 007e and the 0015e?
I thought the old B&G and Taco 100 series pumps were much longer flange to flange than most of the new 007s etc. surprised the flange to flange length lined up so perfectly.
Why did you leave flow check in the new pump? The system had to have a flow valve using the old b&g..
Yes a B&G 1/12 H.P.. I cannot remember how many of these I have repaired in the past. Great video Mike. Keep it going.
What do you think of the 007 e's with the universal flanges i had an issue once with one of those where the cir flange on supply on the boiler was too close to the 1/2in air vent had to cut one side of the universal flanges off with a saws off
Magnetic led light or head light you'll break your teeth on that thing. Taco the way to go!!!
Excellent work as always. I didn't think Godzilla was going to fit behind the boiler.
What a size difference in the pump that was switched. Nice video!
They sell an actual tool just for opening them wagos believe it or not
Is that pump upside down or did you rotate the cartridge on the volute?
In my 36 years of experience, I’ve found no mini pump can out last a B&G series 100.
@@PipeDoctor LOL like a homeowner will actually oil a motor? maybe back in the day when most actually worked in factories and shops.. but nowadays? ha! put in a Taco and forget about it
Five years ago I was working in Riverhead long island and I was billing out $195 an hour for a real tool first name len . I was only getting 29 dollars a hour and no benefits. I hope that you treat your guys much better.
@@PipeDoctor no it was his an old beat up auction van breaking down all the time. He even wanted me to put it in my name at one point. I got stopped by the police one time and come to find out there was no insurance on the van they almost towed it on the spot. With my tools in it .😡
I bought that same circulator today and with the rebate it was the same price as a good lunch
I guess I gotta try out the Wagos...and FYI, Knipex makes models with smooth jaws...
Knipex Plier Wrench great for expansion tanks as well
Those small circulators are the way to go
Do you have some smurf **** on the lens?
MP, did you hear about the new Taco pump ready to hit the shelves soon, behaves like the Alpha2 in Auto mode except the gpm and head are crazyyy cost round 500.00 great for guys who zone with zone valves, you can put a dozen on it. Forgot the mod number, its coming.
Ps, ditch the light, trust your feelings, use the force......
OHH friday night H A G S
Mikey Pipes, two questions for you. 1. Do you replace all 100's with 0015 or is the 0015 what you had in the truck? Like, why not a 007? 2. Why leave the flo check in the new pump? I couldn't see the supply side of the boiler, but I would assume there was an old flo check in the system already. Not trolling, serious questions for my own knowledge.
@@PipeDoctor Good to know, thanks Brother.
@@PipeDoctor I just rebuilt a 009. Would this pump replace a Taco 009. Just wondering. Thanks!
@@PipeDoctor I was going to ask why you left the check valve in as well. It's hard to believe the original zone didn't have a flow check because it original had a tankless water heater on it. It would have been overheating from day 1. It would be nice on some of your videos to see a little over view of the piping. Cheers 🍻
You could never have a raggidy navi last that long !🤣
You went from a sludge pumper to a gas conversion!😁🏌
Stay safe.
Retired keyboard super tech.
Wear your safety glasses.
Mike sounds like a really good teacher.
Is it me or was that TV in the background extremely loud?
Brainwashing in real time.
Color is SSSALMON
Why did you put the flow check in the circ?
Just wondering why you utilized the internal flow check in the circulator and didn’t just toss it.
Those B&G's are 🦖🦕. Taco for the win.
Nah! B&G 100 series last a lot longer but I guess if you have a plumbing business you don’t make money if a product lasts along time!😎
That’s all folks
First?
Usually do a few b and g 100s a week. Either coupler replacement if bearings are still good, or leaking from impeller shaft, or dead motor. Have a graveyard of old motors in the garage
Another customer with heat. Swapped out an old b&g 100 at my grandmother's last winter with a 007 when it bit the dust. How do you like the uponor pex system. I just ordered a dewalt expander to switch to instead of messing with crimp connections
Those wagos are junk, you want the clear ones with an orange lever
Was that 1 1/2 inch copper on the return?
Hey Mike.....1975 called and said it wants it’s B&G circulator back......glad you obliged 😂.
good choice of pumps...Taco similar to B&G flow at half the price and more efficient and less complicated...plus positive
You are killing, love the video’s. 🇨🇦
