An old customer of mine gives painting classes once every couple months, and had invited me to them, hand us trace an image and told us how to paint the image she had planned. Did a couple of her classes and have really enjoyed it. Just came across your channel and decided why not give this a try....thank you for having these channels, this was my first one (by myself with your guidance of course) but I enjoyed every single second of painting this flower. I'm learning something new about myself, I always said I was not even a little bit artistic...and now I have a beautiful painting. Looking forward to learning just how creative I can be, thanks for having these videos for people to find and have fun with! Now I have a winter hobby when the rain starts here it doesn't stop, this will help with me feeling copped up and stuck inside!!

Yay Fall!! Your sunflower is beautiful and the perfect image for the beginning of Fall. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻💛💛💛💛💛 I got inspired the other day and cut out leaf shapes from a cereal box and painted them like fall leaves....except with pink, purple, lime green, orange, yellow and turquoise, lol. Then I finished them with a coat of Extreme Glitter Hologram paint!!! It's like Fall with a pop 😁

I cannot wait to try this technique later. I made a few little wooden designs for my house & I had to add a sunflower or two to one of them. However, my painting skills are not my strongest suit. You've made it doable and less scary. I cannot wait to see what happens

@@TheBuzzedArtist I tried it last night. It doesn't look quite as nice as yours, but I did it on canvas instead of paper and I guess I should have used gesso on the canvas. It sucked up all my paint. But now I'm smarter and I'll try again. :)

What kind of acrylic paint do you like to use not to expensive for a beginner
i wonder have to do blue tape require?? make it look frame?? and is that any size to use for that one ?? i plan use for 5x7 will do that work that way?? lmk thanks you .
Blue painter’s tape was used to secure the canvas paper I was using. This is so the paper does not warp while painting and won’t destroy my paper when it is later removed. If you are using a stretched canvas, there is no need for blue painter’s tape. And yes you can do whatever size you like :) just follow along and adjust as you see fit

Cherie Carlson I used canvas paper but you can always use canvas as well.
I love your personality and your really good at painting. I'm not a painter by any means but I have some tips that would hopefully help you out. I tried to follow along at home and let me tell you, I struggled. Maybe try going a little slower and explaining some steps more because I got a little lost at some parts and ended up just doing it a different way. Also it felt like you kept repeating steps like blending and contrasting. I ended up making the same lines like four times and adding a different color on top then adding the same exact color again. My painting ended up being a jumbled mess because of it. I think maybe explaining what to do if you do happen to mess up would be super helpful also. Sorry I'm not trying to be critical I want it to be more beginner friendly. Thank you!

When you started doing the details with more orange did you let the yellow first layer dry?
I actually did not wait for it to dry before adding the orange. I wanted to keep my blending going which means I kept adding layers of colors I wanted as I went along. :)

How do you deal with the buckling paper?
Great question. Usually I tape down my canvas paper using painters tape onto a sturdy surface; it helps keep the paper stretched. I have also noticed that the more water you apply to the paper, the more it will buckle, so keep that in mind as you are painting. In the end, there will always be a little buckling which you can flatten out after you finish painting. I found spraying the back of the paper with water and applying a hot iron to the back is super helpful. (There are some tutorials on how to do this step by step on UA-cam; recommend you check those out). I hope that was helpful :)
Titanium white and Mars black i have. My problem is the colors I have:
Yellow, I only have Naples and Lemon Yellow.
Red, I only have Crimson Red, Rose, and Charmine.
Blue, I only have Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Phtalo Blue, and Ultramarine.
Can anyone tell me which colors I can use?
Hmm this is a good problem to have. Try Naples yellow, crimson red and phytalo blue. But feel free to use the other colors to get some nice hues!

Great tutorial, however, this is my first time using acrylic and my sunflower turned into a big muddy mess 😂😣😂
Lol!! And that is totally ok! Acrylics take a bit of time to play with, so consider this a great first step into your acrylic learning experience. I would encourage you to try a few more times to really get the hang of it. And to avoid “muddy” colors, be sure any paint that you do not want mixed with your color is not interfering (aka wait for your paint to dry, clean your brush really well, replace your water, etc). You may also want to ease up on using a ton of paint at once (go in using a little bit at a time with some water...you can always add more layers as you go!)

I screwed it up at the end and ended up cleaning off the whole canvas ;-; I shouldn’t have done that tbh
