They're all great musicians. Joe Lynn Turner and Ian Gillian WERE THE INSTRUMENTS. I'm a Purple and Zeppelin freak among other classic rock bands. That was my young adulthood teens and twenties.
Personally I’m a Hughes and MKIII fan but all Purple singers are great. From Evans to JLT, all talented. What a blessed band. Albums like Deep Purple (the 3rd album), Machine Head, Burn, Come Taste the Band couldn’t be more different but they all deliver quality.
personally i'm the late ronnie james dio fans but he was with rainbow (imagine all favs tracks of DP sound by dio) love his tone color, because he was not with DP then favo falls to coverdale over gillian.
saw them live for the first time on this tour. they played on big stadium in my hometown Kosice and it was their first gig in Slovakia ever. it seemed like everybody from all the country was there!
joe lynn your one of the best of rock roll along with the likes of Daryl Hall, Brent Smith, and etc. anyone who says anything different just does not under the gig. I do GOD Bless you love your sound.
King of Dreams (LIVE 1991 OSTRAVA) Deep Purple 1991: Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar Jon Lord - Organ, Keyboards Joe Lynn Turner - Vocals Roger Glover - Bass Ian Paice - Drums
same ol story...a lot stayed away ..but let me tell ya Ive seem em all ac to zz and I swear they were so wonderful..loud enough for my metal years..bluesey enuff flr my 70s ears and love songs that a rocker can acctually relate to married..or single...freakin fantastic ...turner had power make no mistake...God bless them all...oh yes and Blackers...on this tour for once he smiled loads..talked to the audience down front...and appeared so happy that Rainbow were back with their best album since Dios era...
Excellent choice for Depp Purple to choose JLT,,, back then,,,,, amazing front man,,excellent song writer, a legend ,, who continues to perform,,,,,, at a level as if it is still 1991,,,,,,,,,,we are very lucky to still have this rocker,,,still going strong,,,,...Respect,,,
Stone Cold s a high end rock ballad with heart off the charts, the groove, the heavy sound eventhough it's a classic Hammond organ driven ballad for a strat, it's SO organic and heavy without being metal and shit... The voice, the chorus, that Ritchie guitar solo, so, so phucking soulful. And ppl think Rainbow with Dio are light in a bottle kinda band. Rainbow, pound for pound, has some of the best music in their genre, be it pionnering heavy metal, bright hearted tracks alla since You ve been gone, ballads, instrumentals (Weiss Hiem, the absolute best), more bangers (black masquerade), those hipnotic hard rock tunes (stargazer, Gates of Babylon, eyes of the world, eyes of fire, Ariel, hunting humans). Ritchie Blackmore really did put a lot of work to give this neat catalogue, yet ppl are still over rating the Dio years... You're phucking welcome.
pEOPLE TALK ALOT OF C+++ ABOUT THIS LINEUP AND TOUR. tHIS WAS THE FIRST GIG OF THE TOUR. KING OF DREAMS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE DP SONGS AND THIS VERSION IS BRILLIANT. RITCHIE'S SOLO IS SUPERB AND THE SINGING IS GREAT-THE SOUND QUALITY MAYBE COULD BE A LITTLE BETTER. SLAVES AND MASTERS IS THE DEEP PURPLE ALBUM I LISTEN TO MOST AND I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ALBUM ETC
I don't care what people say about all the different singers for Purple they all we're good or Ritchie Blackmore would not let them in the band. Not really good to compare them because they are all talented singers in their own right. And Turner was even able to sing Bon Scott songs as good as anyone.
why I'm the name of rock do so many people got on this poor guy....when he was on form he was fantastic...great raspy tone...love this..never saw it before...awesome ..Glaciers knew he had a talent but again not ugly enough for DEEP PURPLE...ha
JLT kickin ass with DP! Despite the negative comments about this combo, Joe was the only American vocalist talented enough to front Rainbow & Deep Purple. After HOBL, Gillan splits. For this tour, Joe was there for them ( not that he needed the work- he wanted to sing with DP for years!) This man sang with more heart and balls than the best haters could ever muster! He does the vocal parts of two men on 'Burn'. In all the years DP has been an act, I've noticed Ritchie has the best time rocking with Joe on the mic. Ritchie once told an interviewer "he's kinda fem..", though he absolutely enjoyed working with Joe. Roger & Jon stated they liked his raw American spirit and approach to the songs. American, prideful talent mixed with English mastery. Too bad JLT only recorded one album with them. They wanted Gillan back by '93 for the 25th anniversary. While I personally thoroughly enjoyed everything I could find on the House of Blue Light tour, maybe they would have had more time to record had they signed Joe a little bit sooner.
+SCORPIO047FX They recorded a second album with JLT, some of which was reworked for "The Battle Rages On." Record company didn't like it, told the band to get Ian Gillan back, and that was that. In his book, IG talks about arguing with Ritchie while they were rerecording "Time to Kill:" Blackmore wanted IG to use the lyrics and tune that JLT wrote, and that should have been the first sign that it was over before it started. For his part, JLT refers to the finished product as "The Cattle Grazes On" -- from what I've read, the album he recorded with the band had more balls than the final version of TBRO -- and there's an interview here on YT where he doesn't say very nice things about "One Man's Meat" (JLT's "Stroke of Midnight," apparently done the way DP did it.). Ah, all the interesting stuff out there in the vaults...
+QuarrellaDeVil I've read an article about The Battle Rages On where it says that there's a finished version with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals but it has been hidden 'cause Gillan is now the leader of Deep Purple. The record company wanted to release that as a special edition (like Black Sabbath did with The Eternal Idol with Tony Martin and Ray Gillen) but Gillan refused that and even he gave them a warning. Poor Joe, he was treated so bad on Deep Purple.
QuarrellaDeVil All the interesting new information to be found! I can't wait to her these versions of 'Battle' w/ Joe! If it exists, I'll find it. Thank You!
SCORPIO047FX JLT is a decent singer. Love his work with Glenn Hughes. I just feel Slaves and Masters was a Rainbow album with Purple personnel, not much of a Deep Purple mojo. Like something Ritchie was holding from the 80s Rainbow era that he dug up and played with DP. Not an awful album, just a bit out of place in the Deep Purple catalogue.
Yeah , did see the band in the 70's one time . Had them cacel on me two different tours . Then they played at Winterland in SF . Second on the bill to "Malo" . Pissed me off . An hour set plus an encore or thereabouts .After that, years later I flew down to Hollywood .They had Steve Morse on guitar@ HOB . Sort of made it up to my son after it canceld at Concord .Caught them 3 of 4 nights.Had Jon Lord walk by me.One night talked to Jo Lynne Turner outside the show.He was there to see them play
Great joke. Btw, Rainbow with Lord and Paice would ve destroyed everything. Ritchie really shouldn't have parted ways with those two. Still the best he's ever played with. And i phucking love Rondinelli, Powell, Airey, Paul Morris, and many of them. But i bet, that last Rainbow lp from the 90s would ve been a masterpiece with Doggie White and Greg Smith. It's just that Ritchie, Jon and Paice were like the best instrumental trio there has ever been in rock.
I saw them on the same tour in Hartford and in Worcester, MA - both well-attended shows. Winger opened for them. I don't recall that they cancelled many dates.
Deep Purple's whole history is back stabbing starting way back in 1969 when they sacked Rod Evans and Nick Simper! But somehow along the way they made some memorable music in all line ups Mark 1 though 5!
While I tend to find Joe a bit prancy for my tastes, he and the band sounded good together. It might have been Deep Rainbow, (or pick your favorite put down) but the band still did what they were supposed to do. I had never seen this performance before. It's enjoyable...and the band is playing tight.
Scott F. I agree, but something had happened to Joe's voice. He really sounded awful compared to the 80's. Two years prior to this he sounded excellent with Yngwie Malmsteen...but he struggled during the 'Slaves & Masters' tour. I think Ian Paice said it in an interview too. Jon Lord actually never got along with him. Paice and Glover wanted Gillan back.
Then you must love Raimbow´s album "difficult to cure". I discovered it when I was 15 yo, now I´m 51 and "I surrender" stills sounds at full power in my car, like "king of dreams". By the way, so beatiful and with such good musical taste..., where are you??? ;))
Glad to see anything of this form of the band .I had great seats for Concord Ca and they canceled almost the whole US tour . I suspect it was weak ticket sales ?
Hmmm don't know how to go back to check the tour dates . I could be wrong but thought I read somewhere they had called off the tour after only 4 or 5 dates . Doesn't matter all that much . I do know it cancelled in Concord , Ca.But that was probably one of the last dates on the tour as that has always been the case for the west coast stops .
On Made In Japan...the songs from Machine Head sounded even better...on this tour the songs from Slaves & Masters sound even worse..and believe me that takes some doing! This is just CRAP!
nei live non compete di certo con ian gillan anzi e quasi fastidioso sentirlo!!!!! e gli altri strumenti nn si sento neanche!!!!!! joe nn è fatto per i DP che sono una LIVE BAND!!!!
Joe has the Madonna thing going for him, slips in and out of a faux British accent. It seems to be really noticeable in recent clips of him. Just weird... like he has an identity crisis.
Every singer and every musician, who has been in Purple family, are great!
a career full of stars
DEEP PURPLE & RAINBOW ARE THE WORLD BEST HARD ROCK BAND IN EUROPE & THE WORLD.
highly underrated album! Ritchie does some great licks on this album!
They're all great musicians. Joe Lynn Turner and Ian Gillian WERE THE INSTRUMENTS. I'm a Purple and Zeppelin freak among other classic rock bands. That was my young adulthood teens and twenties.
Slaves and Masters is Purple's best offering since the split in 1975.
Joe's an immense singer.
I’m just a nobody but my favorite deep purple album IS slaves and Masters. JLT is the man
офигенный состав Д.П.! жадь ,что сейчас они не в месте ..❤❤❤❤🤘
At least they had a singer that could sing Burn.
Steve Steele true true
Totally agree with you. I've always thought Joe was the right mix between Ian and David. He could really make it
JLT or Coverdale both are good for me, but Gillian.
Personally I’m a Hughes and MKIII fan but all Purple singers are great. From Evans to JLT, all talented. What a blessed band. Albums like Deep Purple (the 3rd album), Machine Head, Burn, Come Taste the Band couldn’t be more different but they all deliver quality.

damn shame joe lynn turner only did one album with DP....his strong vocals did justice to all the songs in the slaves and masters album...go go joe!
Wow...great version of this tune! Great groove, edge, and a tasty solo from Mr. Blackmore.
Joe Linn Turner is the man !
DP is one of the tightest bands of all time...what pros. JLT is an interesting addition
saw them live for the first time on this tour. they played on big stadium in my hometown Kosice and it was their first gig in Slovakia ever. it seemed like everybody from all the country was there!
Man has the voice
Joe is one of the best rock singer out there!
Damn good stuff love some deep purple, your bro cosmic charlie
joe lynn your one of the best of rock roll along with the likes of Daryl Hall, Brent Smith, and etc. anyone who says anything different just does not under the gig. I do GOD Bless you love your sound.

joe lynn on stone cold proved to be the best voice nobody on this song could deliver
same as spotlight kid on diffilcult to cure album

besttttttttttt
JLT
Well, at any rate, it's too bad that you didn't get to see them. They were very tight when I saw them, and Jon Lord really shined.

1:15 - 1:32 best ever to my ears !

My fav version of this song, not happy they back stabbed Joe
Me either, I liked how Joe made the band more approachable to fans
Deep Purple's whole history is back stabbing starting way back in 1969 when they sacked Rod Evans and Nick Simper! But somehow along the way they made some memorable music in all line ups Mark 1 though 5!
@@benadam7753 I think with Ritchie, its always been just about business. Not sure about Ian or the other guys though.

Joe Lynn was buzzed here. We were sending shots 😉

SilverTounge85 - yeah his voice seems a bit rough here, and especially on Burn.
Love the czech national flag on Paice's drums !
Joe L Turner, born Joseph Arthur Mark Linquito.
Peace
i love DEEP PURPLE only with this vokal. JOE LYNN TURNER is very diferend .

Me gusta como buen rainbowniano turnerianon y blackmoriano
Joe voice perfect for purple. So sad they brought back Gillan who croaks like a toad in comparison.
Joe tiene una voz de pm
Joe хороший певец ,но если Deep Purple то Gillan 👍
At 1:18 either Jon or Roger is mocking Judy Garland's dancing and Ritchie's reacting to it.
Im an avid Deep Purple fan
But whats this shit..
Must have forgotten about them back in 1990.
where is the lyrics for the song called " truth hurts?
JLT... Come on... 😄😄
1991 was clearly not a good year for this wine. But the song is good.
That primitive harmonizing effect on the chorus should be outlawed!
One band, so many wigs. Saw this tour and thought, I can't be bothered anymore unless Gillan comes back.
Ritchie was the only one that wanted JLT in Purple, the band couldn't wait to get rid of him........not a good time for Purple!!
Hmmm don't know how to go back to check the tour dates . I could be wrong but thought I read somewhere they had called off the tour after only 4 or 5 dates . Doesn't matter all that much . I don't see calling this band Rainbow as a putdown.

I love JLT as best or 2nd best singer of Rainbow; but definitively he wasn't pro enough to attack Purple's Classics...
Ritchie was really a bad guy not recruiting again JLT for Rainbow in 1993 when he split off DP...
ritchie laughs at joe , for her dancing .... and in your face .
Great song.. Sad that current purple ignore all mark III, IV and Turner songs. What a boring band they are now

Truly, truly awful. Still, I guess it's better than Glenn Hughes.
CramwellJr glen is a junkie not a musician
Stupid ,glen has better voice than this, than coverdale etc.....look when glen sing misrtreated
Joe Lynn tries do hard with his antics but he has no personality
This is not deep purple, this is very bad song from rainbow.sorry but this is crap.slow tempo, boring, mellow melody.
bad voice for DP...
