About an hour ago, I was leaving a supermarket I walked into the car park and there was this guy parked next to me listening to a UA-cam video at full Volume. I thought to myself I recognise that sound, I said to the guy Dave Simpson yeah? He replied you better fucking believe it, this guy is a fucking legend !!! Got home just now, watched this video and thought to myself yeah, that guy knows he’s shit to. 🤘🏼💥
Dave and also feller Derek from Vice Grip Garage channel, even though he's from a different youtube universe. Having said that - Derek can play guitar too, the intro to his videos is him playing. 🎸
Simply in awe of Dave's "stream of conciousness" chops. He proves over and over what a real player can do with even the cheapest gear. Hope he tours when this virus dies out. He deserves to be a star.
The Marshall already sounds like a Marshall, it would be helpful for me to hear you play with this Plexi pedal into the Orange since that's what I have in comparison cr120 head unit into Marshall 412 !
A Friday with Dave's soulful guitar playing. A person who plays soulful music with this much passion and energy must be a beautiful person. Cheers Dave. You rock buddy. Your fans love you.
My Dear Dave Lord of Simpson, the solo you play at the beginning, in my humble opinion is one of your finest as so much feel and passion!! You have helped me through a dark period in getting my Mojo back, losing my wife of 40 years, just over a year ago, and taken to watching/playing along with your fine videos sorry to ramble on (we know a song about that) but Ritchie Blackmore echoed your sentiments in an interview that technically fantastic players like Stevie Vai, Satriani are too technically perfect. Mr Blackmore said you could hear Jimi searching for THE note or notes and when he got it, it really ,meant something and you felt it 'deep down in your soul'. Having a few years on you, I have recently become depressed as apart from the very sudden loss of my dear Mrs, we can't rehearse, gig etc, (like everyone else)especially as last gig was a biggie in Twickenham after a Rugby Match a year ago just before 1st lockdown (get a grip Borris you twit) and first time we played 'Under The Bridge'...I was chuffed as nailed it!! But you have helped re ignite the passion, displayed in your opening (and in all your vids). One question, you never mention your Vintage Brand PGGM Les Paul you used to really rate? I have a lovely (1/2 ton weight), natural finish Gibbo LP, but prefer the Vintage PGGM to play (I just added period style Wilkinson Machine heads and control knobs- great quality gear Wilkinson if money is not growing on a tree in your garden). Thank you for helping me and inspiring me, sincere peace and happiness, Ade, getting his mojo back thanks to you.
@@Deliquescentinsight Thankyou Michael, your kind words mean a lot. I def lost the better half of me. Treasure every moment with loved ones. May the universe be kind to you, Adrian
You sold me. I hope it sounds good through my Fender Bassman. They say Marshall based there early amps on the Bassman but nothing sounds quite like a Marshall. Keep up the Fantastic videos!!! You Rock!
Hey Dave, I have been watching your videos for a while now. I have learnt more from you than any other UA-cam site. Not any have my guitar skills improved immensely but I have applied your advice to the set up, low pickups, not super low action. It really gave me a better sound. You play guitar how a guitar should be played, purely by heart and let the power send you to another level. Or just go mental as you do better than anyone. Thanks Dave! Your videos helped me develop my skills. Keep doing what you do best. Your a legend mate!!!!
The power of music came across once again and made my day. Thx for that Dave, and I heard some nice Marshall tone out of that small pedal. Great start into the weekend.
During the intro, I was ready to plunk down my 40 bucks, but quickly realized it was your fingers, your enthusiasm, your skill that makes the music here. No pedal will give me that. It'd be nice though, if it were that easy. Lol
Buy the pedal man- you can do it, trust me. If I can do it, anyone can bud- seriously. And I'm completely self-taught- there was no internet when I learned to play- with the internet now, it's super easy and free to boot. It's improved my playing then fold- you can find anything you want- from classical breakdowns and theory to raunchy metal and old blues tricks. But first things first- pick up your guitar and get going man- buy the pedal- or one like it- and have a blast figuring it out.
I think I figured out what the secret is to getting that smooth DS2 tone and why certain pedals don't work for it. Basically, you need a pedal that cuts the treble to an extent. The CE-1 does, and I found my Golden Plexi does as well if you run the tone under a quarter. Once you raise the tone up, that buzz saw fizz starts to appear.
Dave I finally got this pedal today and man, it’s amazing. I love the tone control being a mid control. I like boosting the mids a big and this pedal cuts through so nicely and sounds so Marshally.
Dave simply just kickin' ass and making that strat wail and squeek in a way that us mortals can only only dream to emulate. Another superb video and reminds us that dave is a master and we must doff our caps to dave who knows which side his toast is buttered on Dave the captain of all good riffs and guitar tones and sounds we'd happily give up a year of Sunday dinners just to scrape the bottomless pit of his riff reportoir. Stonking stuff dave
Hello to you Dave and the people of the tube. Just when i think i've experienced your best intro ever you come up with another best intro jam ever. Bravo sir bravo! Absolutely loved the tone. Nice pedal indeed. Thanks for the vid Dave! :-)
This is the third video about this pedal i watch. Finally a guy knows what he do. :) Its ever nice when people not only dial wild the knobs, u understand for what a pedal is made for and demonstrate it in a great way.
Great playing as allways dave! Loving the mr flibble hoodie to! Haha uncle arnie approves of you frying them alive with your blistering guitar hex vision skills! 🤘
Enjoying ourselves are we, ey??? This will not do!!! 🤣 That sounded brilliant. I have the NUX MG-300 multiFX and I reckon that Plexi Pedal you're reviewing has to be built into it in the form of an (Marshall) amp sim (actually there is a Plexi 100W and a Plexi 45 amp sim). Last night tho I made a patch combining the JCM 800 sim, with a RAT in front of it....I called it the Dirty Rat....just face melting my friend!! Now they've come out with a new and improved one, The NUX MG-30, just when I bought the 300...drat. Maybe one day soon we'll see you do a video about it?
Waiting for delivery tomorrow and excited to play through whatever back line is provided in upcoming Asia tour. I know I’m covered. What is the deal with these inexpensive pedals? Are they reliable? We’ll all find out together 😊 Great!
This pedal sounds awesome! Sometimes sounds like Angus' tone, some Gary Moore-ish and everything in between. It has a nice chunk but it also screams with thick throaty long lead lines! I will be adding this to my pedalboard. I have a Revv G3, Friedman BE-OD, Vertex Ultraphonix, NUX Steel String and a Black Magic Zendrive. This Plexi-Crunch will be added!!!
Dude!!! What an awesome review finally someone REAL in this crazy fake world! I’m a new sub here and I will buy this from your link cause YOU my friend you deserve it… enthusiasm but True Tone’s and showing the experience enjoying so much I’m glad I found you man!!! Keep up this amazing work you do! 🙏👏🤘🤘🤘Hi from Utah
Your getting some great sounds out of the pedal Dave great playing, I have a marvel 3 drive that is quite similar to that, quite tweakable it also has a 9v and 19v switch for headroom I think, very cool.
I agree, it's already coming out of a marshall, no wonder it sounds so good, maybe play through another amp and see if that Marshally tone comes through
Hi Dave feel a little bit sorry for all the people who buy gear after your review it and done a demo because there not going to get the tones you get because you have mojo in your hands no pedal or amp is going to give you those tones it in your fingers awesome playing as always keep rocking Dave
Awesome demo Mr Dave and a top sounding pedal...more sponsors need to recognize the potential of your selling powers here on tubeland IMHO....well done buddy 👍🎸
Dave , How is it that YOUR the ONLY ONE that knows how to bring this Nux Plexi to life ?? Any how , Dave you really know how to Rock !!! Hey , keep it Hard, Heavy, and put the pedal to the metal !! Greatttt job on this vid dear brothu !!!⚡🎸⚡🎸⚡🎸🎶
Dave i watched a lot of your videos the last to days starting with the one at Andertons music co, and i got to tell you i seen and heard a lot of good to great guitarist and you i must say are one of the best of best and im talking Big names to not so big names to know name, and if i could play like one of them that i have never heard i can honesty say it would be you because i hear and feel what you saying when you play and to me that makes a true musiclan, someone that can make the persons hear and feel what they trying to say with the instrument. GOD Bless you and keep doing what you doing and you right that pedal is awesome got to get me one. cheers
Great pedal. I use the steel stringer pumped into it aswell 😄. Also l, love the fact Dave has his name on the music sheet holder. God forbid the man who steals it.
You are a great Guitar player and a true rosckstar bro. I think this is the best review i've ever seen! Nice pedal btw, i just bought it and I love it.
. EXCELLENT review - yes, you actually moved the TONE controls from zero for us mere mortals. AWESOME pedal - just bought one, was compelled to after your 3:25 freak out! .
The PLEXI CRUNCH pedal arrived today and I'm not disappointed. Pleasantly surprised in fact. Has a metal chassis and is quite hefty - don't know why I was expecting plastic but looks and feels much better than expected. Excellent choice of CONTROLS and the secret to success of this pedal is how the TONE, which is an active MIDDLE control, interacts with both the PRESENCE and PRE-AMP. Of course, this is how a real Plexi works, overlooked by so many standard pedal clones. This is great. Was prepared to rehouse in metal stomp box but now there's no need. Well done NU>X! .
28:37 - instant Woman tone on the neck PU with all of controls at noon, but the Presence at 0 Thanks for the vid, what a pleasure watching you truly enjoying it! Btw, running it through fx return as a preamp (that tone sweep + presence controls allow to tune it accordingly for that purpose) tames the gain a deal. So that Might work for the Frusciante tone, esp with lower output PUs and/or volume rolled back a little
Dave like always, amazing playing!! My two cents. I love the tone. I’m currently looking for a pedal that will give me the plexi sound. But my concern is that you are using a solid state Marshall with a plexi pedal. Basically the amp somewhat have a Marshall sound to it and the pedal enhances the sound. It will be nice if a none Marshall amp was utilized to see if the plexi sound is there with the pedal. Is like using a fender pedal in a fender amp. Is going to sound like a fender amp This is not a criticism is just what I would of like to see, because it is the sound I’m looking for but I don’t have a Marshall amp. I have a blackstar Id core 100. But like always, amazing playing!!!
I’ve been wanting the sound of this pedal for a long time! What I found it can do (with my Strat by the way) is all the OG Marshall guitar gods tone. Then it can get very saturated as you see in your video, always retaining the Marshall sound. I have to see if I can dial in Dave Navarro’s tone on “Ted Just Admit it” his tone on the quieter bits has always been elusive to me. What a perfect match for my Marshall Class 5. Great video man!!!
Awesome performance, Dave!!! ... It's... At the end of the solo... Like... You were looking for your breathe but... What the heck?? For a second, I bet, you couldn't find it... LOOL... That is the way music should always be played... From the deepest inch of the musician's soul, heart and guts... Awesome solo and performance, yes indeed...
I am so glad I dont live next door to you Dave ;) Great series of pedals though I bought their Steel Singer ad it does the SRV thing so well and after watching this I may well buy this one too.
Man you need 10 of this pedals to keep every setting possible so versatile it’s crazy… imagina a full Pedalboard with 10 of this only hahahaha 😂awesome
Damn Dave, I really wish those record labels weren't so greedy, and let you play some amazing songs. But maybe it's even better that way, it encourages creativity;)
It’s better this way. Why waste Dave’s talent on playing the same shit songs we’ve all heard a million times already. Hell, his intro jams are better than anything I’ve heard on the radio anyway. Cheers.
Ok, bought one, my honest opinion, through my Marshall, tbh, don't need it, through my Vox MV50 into a 2x12, fucking brilliant, don't need on my Katana 100 2x12 either. It is kind of an all or nothing sound, I do a lot of AC/DC style covers, whatever we play kind of goes down that road anyway, it would be nice if it was more subtle, but it definitely sounds like a cranked Marshall, the thing is, I sometimes don't play my Marshall cranked, it actually cleans up if you try and it would be nice if this also added some subtle overdrive, which it doesnt. If You have a Valve amp, that needs to be red lined to drive, these are great, I'll post some video in the next few days.
Hey Dave!, God Bless You mate!, another incredible review and awe-inspiring performance of you tearing this pedal into shreds brother!!! Your tone is so versatile, unique, and certainly one-of-a-kind as always! Thank You for being so loyal to us fans and subscribers, we appreciate all that you do for us and you help make all of our lives more worthwhile and enjoyable! Those NUX pedals are class ive got the Roland space echo one that they make and it sweet, the bst delay I’ve ever had, class playing btw as usual 👌 mr orange
What an intro Dave! 🔥 I'm eyeing this pedal for a long time now, and I'm curious to know - since this is Marshall in a box, can this pedal be used for Frusciante dirty clean sound as an alternative to Jackhammer or Golden Plexi?
Hell of a demo, Dave. I've heard a few demos of this pedal in months past, and I've been really underwhelmed by it so far. You make it sound massive and worth considering. How do you think it compares with the Golden Plexi? Apples and oranges?
About an hour ago, I was leaving a supermarket I walked into the car park and there was this guy parked next to me listening to a UA-cam video at full Volume. Ouch. Your intro went Straight to the heart. You gave me goosebumps. Please never stop sharing your passion.
NuX pedals are super underrated. I have two that I use as my main Overdrives and I can’t believe how good they sound especially for the price point.

I just ordered the pedal any pedal that makes you smile has to be Awesome…Sounds like it can do Eddie’s Brown sound
Cheers.
WOW that was fantastic, love your work, give us more.
Impressed. Me too! Great demo Dave.👏🏻🤟🏻
God damn that intro got me right in the feels.
is this like a hot rodded super lead pedal or a different marshall sounding pedal or can you get a super lead on this pedal
Still one of, if not the greatest, intro of all time.

Seriously man......epic!!!
Love it!
Oh man, that jam when the drum kicks in.
