- **IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW**
Not a common problem, but I've seen the same problem on a couple other videos. The failure is due to a faulty cable actuator that goes from the head unit to the HVAC box. Ford Part #YH-1624
I bought the replacement from RockAuto.com using the above part number, and it cost less than $40, including shipping.
Reinstallation is even easier, everything just snaps into place. ***One thing I overlooked is that the gray piece attached to the head unit needs to come off as well, prior to installing the new cable unit. Just pull the knob off and remove a screw that holds it in place.
5 years later and this video is still saving people time and money. Ford dealership charging 500$ for this fix, (CAD$) got the part for 60$ CAD and 15 minutes of my time. I'm a smaller dude so didnt need to remove seat.
Marshal Beard yep those places are very costly lol that’s y I do my own mechanic work lol I’ll also fix this problem myself too as soon as I get the part lol
Marshal Beard
What’s the part number and where do I buy it?
Thank God for Adam. Because of guys like you taking the time to do these videos saves people like me a ton of money. Thanks.
I so agree!!! Saves guys AND gals money lol shops are way too costly to go to so I do all my own work! I’ve put 2 alternator in my 05 focus ZX4 ST..... and IM A GIRL! My dad always taught me there’s nothing wrong with getting my hands greasy/dirty and that if I wanted something done right do it myself and do it right the first time.... I enjoy doing work on my own vehicle! I also replaced my own brakes- front and back! Change my own oil and rotate my own tires! Thanks for the video!
Thank! You!... I’m in my thirties now, still have my ‘05 zx3 I bought when I was 17. This is the only problem I’ve ever had with it (220k)
Finally gonna fix this issue.
Adam thank you for posting this, I opted not to remove the seat, and your video was right to the point and bang on! Easy Peasy on this repair, it's guys like you that make UA-cam such a valuable tool. It takes time and energy to make a video and I really appreciate you doing so. Bought my cable on Ebay it was $37.05 shipped. Took about 15 minutes using your excellent instruction. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for Adam C! Peace Brother. Jeff
This post/video was most helpful. A few tips to make it go even better. 1) remove the selector knob before popping the dash cover. You pull hard straight out on the knob. 2)When taking the wire harness plug off of the selector, you have to raise the plastic clip fairly high to get it to release (to the point you think the clip will break) 3) take a good hard look at where the part fits onto the damper door assembly. You can find yourself trying to put the part on a splined shaft, when in fact it goes on the other shaft.
Thanks for the great information. I could not have accomplished the installation without your video. What I thought at first would be a monumental task turned out to be a simple 15 min. project.
Thanks for the in depth tutorial, man. Put the part number and everything. Really helped me out.
thanks. exactly what I was looking for. exact same problem. You saved me a lot of headaches
Motorcraft YH-1624 is the part $30 on amazon
Thanks for this video ! Just ordered that part from rockauto. Cost was $31 including shipping.
Ugh I'm pretty sure this just happened to my 07 Ford Focus. It was super hard to turn and I forced it one day it was warm out to get some cold air then the next day it was cold so had to turn it back to floor mode then the next day it was warm again and found out It's stuck on defrost! Summers coming up and where I live it's very humid so I'll definitely my face vents! Gonna see if my fiance can do this or I might try to reach behind and manipulate it like you said in the beginning. Thanks for the video
Thanks for making this video. This is the exact problem I'm having. I have an '07. My heater temperature controller is also bad. Again, thanks!
Great video.
Got exact same issue. HVAC is stuck. And yeah, I'm gonna take that seat off too. Just on principle.
I just replaced this on my 06. Here's my $2. Yes the existing cable was wire-managed behind that panel, so I just cut the cable rather than reaching in and trying to undo it. Then pulled out both ends. I carefully pried the end of the cable from the socket thing it plugged into behind the knob, then I saw the new cable included that part, so don't bother with that. I put the e-brake on and put the transmission in 1st gear which made it easier to work with the bezel (mine's an auto). And the biggest tip, mine seized up about two years ago and so I've been reaching under the dash and flipping it every spring and fall. When I put the new cable in and tried to turn it, the box was seized up and I probably primed the cable for failure again. I had to disconnect the cable again and work the thing under the dash to loosen it up. I'm going to work the knob every time I get in the car to hopefully keep it working. Oh and I didn't remove the seat, just moved it back all the way.
yes, they should have recalled this a LONG time ago!
Grand Wazoo other than that (and a few other bugs), a great car
Paul Rico this isn’t a safety concern why would they “ recall” it ? Sounds pretty dumb considering they only recall something if it affect a persons safety or well being while driving
@@codywright4910 considering this can cause you to lose the ability to defrost your windshield during the cold months and not see well because of it, I'd say it could be a safety concern
NewtPrince you can easily take a towel and wipe the windshield down it’s not that hard .... Otherwise just turn the air on with the ac button it will take care of the moisture the same way , yeah it’s not aiming at the windshield but like I had said take a towel with you ( which most people have ) and wipe it off till you get it fixed .... I know that y’all ain’t that dumb not to compensate for simple shit that goes wrong like this right ? Use your head they ain’t gonna make a nation wide recall for petty shit like this ..... If it was say a ignition switch that caused a fire then yes but it isn’t so ....
We bought a used 2006. We have had the place replace 2 of these controllers in less than 3 months. Nice to know what the actual problem causer is. Now to get the replacement part.
Unless you're a big guy. You don't need to remove the seat. The shroud under the steering wheel can stay in place too. you can clearly see the other end through the gap between the lower shroud and the bottom of the column. and you can easily reach just to the top right of the steering wheel and its right there. I literally JUST did this. Took me less than five minutes. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
Thank you very much for the heads up, takin the seat out is for bigger guys such as me and adam but just give a skinny dude some directions and u do the rest...LOTs of help!!!!!
Thanks so much for this! My hubby's '07 had the exact same issue, now I can finally get his defrost working. Thanks again!
callmepiee2009 nice to see another gal that does mechanic work lol GIRL POWER!
Funny I have an 07 and same problem
@@elizabethcarroll7957 Yeah, same here. 07, same issue. Think it might be one of the downsides to an otherwise awesome car. 🤷♀️
2005 Ford Focus HVAC Heater Blend Door Actuator Connector - Here's your part number, just in case anyone is looking: Motorcraft YH-1624 A/C Heater Actuator.
hey thanks buddy was able to fix mine before it broke all the way still can use it over the holiday
was very easy to do with the seat in
Thanks!! $6 from the pull-a-apart and works great. Can't turn the knob all the way left or right but no big deal. Wish UA-cam was around in '03 when I replaced my Ranger's transmission with a Chilton's book. That sucked!
Having locksmithng as my hobby; I like to take things apart when AND before they break or get stuck. So on my focus when mine got stuck I took out the inner cable turned the knob; FLAWLESS; the real problem for mine at least was that the selector being turned since '07 the back and fourth motion pushed the grease aside so it became plastic against plastic where the stub follows the wavy track where he took out the lower panel. So try greasing the wavy track first with grease made for plastics.
2006 Focus - similar to your real problem.
I removed the whole actuator mechanism and the bottom diverter vane binds in the fully seated position in defrost mode.
I will try some plastic lube until I set aside time to open up the duct work and restore the damper function.
I might pull the seat. I removed the OBDII and brake release to get the lower dash pan out of the way
Just got done doing this repair on my 2007 Focus in less than 20 minutes. Thanks for the excellent video. You saved me a ton of time and money!!!! $31.44 at rockauto.com. Part # YH1624 for 2000-20007 Focus.
Awesome post dude. Very appreciated!
Root Cause, most likely the vent selector inside the Venting box. The Actual diverting partition. There happens to be a seal in there that gets sticky, and that causes it to stick, and to much torque is applied and cables break.
Exactly! Discover the Root Cause! Mine still stuck after replacing cable, so the problem is NOT the cable. Since then, it still sticks on DEFROST which leads to the BLEND DOOR. We move the selector every time we use the car to keep it usable, but it's getting worse. Time to dive in. See this helpful video which I found today - ua-cam.com/video/uwiExNKRNqE/v-deo.html . If you carefully read the comments you will find 3 reasonable options for fixing the Root Cause. If the link doesn't work, try search YT for "Focus Stuck Blend Door Fix". Thanks for your input Eric.
My problem is a little different I feel. Where you took off that part (which I've replaced) there is a track with a little knob that helps the Hvac system change to the different vents. It will only go to the vents that it your face and face and feet vents. But it gets stuck and won't move past that point. If I take it off the track and move it to where I need it to it will change. But obviously that requires the panel to be removed every time you need to change vents.
My cable just went out and the dealership said it would take me leaving my car there for a week before they could get to it. Since I'm out of warranty and 100% own the car, I can't expect any breaks from them anyway.
I got on here and your video hit the nail on the head. It's exactly the problem. Now I'll be able to do it myself this weekend. I know what the problem is, the part number (Ford Part #YH-1624) and about how much it will cost to fix it (under $50 I believe) and step by step how to fix it.
You're amazing! THANKS!
In my country this part is quite expencive, so i gonna over engineer it a little by instead of using that cablesystem. I gonna use a electrical potensiometer on the switch side, and a rc plane servo to push and pull the part that switches the vent position.
All in all its actually cheaper if you are into electronics
Thanks, this is exactly what happened to my focus, its like 20 degrees here in and all i have is the defroster... feet are freezing
SUCH A common problem !!!
My 06 Focus just had this exact same problem... and I BROKE the plastic part of the knob (that actually turns the little gear-thing inside the compartment). FFFUUU!
Thanks Adam! After work I'm buying fixing this damn thing! You've been a big help.
Great tute! Now I know. Was hoping someone else had the same problems I've had with the diverter. Your vid is great and your explanations clear. Thx.
The real Problem is the Housing wears out where the door rods (hinges) are and the doors get in a bind, causing them to stick. Ive replaced cables on a customers cars 3 times in the last year, the first set lasted 2 weeks. Couldn't see anything wrong, doors operated fine - no resistance. The customer came in the other day and her cables were broke again. Her's were the BLEND DOOR cables that were giving her problems and now the MODE door is starting to stick as well.
Tore the dash out and remove the HVAC housing, and split the case - hoping to find something fell down inside causing it to get stuck but nothing. after about 20 minutes of looking over everything on this dang thing, you could finally duplicate it by twisting the door slightly, has a fair amount of play in the case.
Yep, that sounds about right. That was my issue as well. I replaced the mode door cable, but I knew that wasn't the solution to the problem. Anyway, I couldn't afford to take the dash out, due to both lack of funds and inexperience, so I replaced the cable and refrained from turning the knob all the way to the left or right, which is where it would get stuck.
Yep, replaced three cables over the last year as well.
why did you remove your seat? I replaced mine a few years back and didn't remove my seat. DON'T FORGET TO LUBE THE LOWER APPARATUS WITH LUBE GREASE. If you do not, then on cold days it gets stuck and hard to turn and it'll break AGAIN. I know cause I have done it.
Hey! Thank you for this guide! After switching the cable, i found out that the "paddle" that directs the air inside the mixing box is getting stuck because of sand+leaves, which again makes the knob harder to turn. After jiggling with it for 5 minutes, i managed to unstuck it, and now it works perfectly!
thethufir - Makes sense to me. Glad you found the video helpful!
How did leaves and stuff get up in it.... 🤔
Thanks dude, this has annoyed me for so long on my 07 ses. Now I'm stuck on defrost so I may just leave as we are in October. But I'm gonna set up to get this done before next spring. Thanks again!
Thank you man, this really helped me...
Don't think you need to remove the seat or the panel under the steering wheel, can take the part out without doing so, just remove radio and the climate control panel.
Radek Woj must be a big dude
@@tylerbeard4092 heh yeah if you're a big dude maybe you need to remove half of the car hehe :P
Thank you for doing this video. I had to replace both the HVAC selector and the Cold/Heat selector today on my Ford Focus. I could not find mechanical help so this 40 something year old woman did it herself. I had help from my life partner. Your video was one of three that help me get this repair work done.
You can replace the cable assembly but if you don't correct the reason the doors are jamming then you'd better stock up on cables assemblies.
tee cee u talking about the door under the dash that the vent selector connects to? Does it need to be oiled or something so it won’t jam and break the cable again??
No need to remove seat....remove 4 screws holding lower left panel located under the steering wheel and you can adjust the vent/heater air flow positions by hand for temporary fix
Obviously a home made video but VERY informative - THANKS !
ADAM! Thank you for telling me the part YH-1524 (blower switch) because THAT is what my problem was! I did this on my own too. (hubby was to busy watching FIFA 2014 so I had to do this) First tried the easy route and changed out the Blower resister but that did not fix my problem. So I FINALLY dug in and installed the Blower SWITCH and WOW! NOW there she blows!!! Thank you so much for all your help!
No problem, tell your hubby to get off his duff. :)
The actual cause of this problem (broken heater/ac control cables) is that the "rubber" seals on the edges of the door flaps deteriorate. And turn into a sticky, gummy substance. So when they are closed, they stick to the housing. The control cables aren't very strong, and when the user tries to free the "stuck" control, the cable breaks. Unfortunately, the only permanent fix is to replace the entire heater/ac under-dash unit. (Because individual parts for it aren't available). About $550 new from Ford. But that's not the worst of it. Replacing the unit requires removing the steering column, and basically unbolting and removing the entire dash unit. Dozens of electric connectors and easily broken plastic retainers. Also discharging the AC system. A 9.5 hour job, according to shop rate manuals.
My 2007 Focus diverter knob gets stuck. I know better than to try and force it (and break it). Instead, I take off the center panel (of the radio & ventilation controls) and use the handle of a hammer (holding the hammer head) stick it thru the opening and bang on the diverter box firmly while lightly trying to turn the knob, and it becomes unstuck, easily. It turns out that the knob only gets stuck after being left in one of the 2 extreme positions (vent and defrost). So I avoid leaving it in those positions overnight. If I forget, I can get it unstuck fairly easily. Me thinks the issue is the diverter door in the box getting hung up, and not the control Adam is replacing. I suspect he'll have the problem again? I do appreciate his demo, tho.
Thanks this video helped I just Put my Car On Top of Ramps and Didn't have to Pull the Seat Out I just Removed the Front Plastic Trim around The Stereo and the A/C Controll Vents i got The Part at a Junk yard it worked pretty Good
I have replaced it three times--it KEEPS getting stuck and like you said the cable breaks--any ideas on how to fix the getting stuck problem???
Its easy to replace the vent selector part....The real problem with my car is INSIDE the heater box. The Flaps that control to airflow from defrost to floor to panel are binding up. When I move them by hand , I can feel the flaps binding up...Sprayed the levers with WD, didn't really help. I also greased the plastic linkage that the vent selector knob moves and that helped a little bit..Still binding up... Anyone have a quick fix to get to the inside of the heater box without tearing apart the dash??
Mox x I was wondering if this is what caused my cable to break.... hope there’s a solution to fixing it... and hopefully it’ll be an easy fix
very common problem I've had 10 2005-2007 focus and everyone had this problem the doors get stuck for some reason
No reason to remove the seat!!! just remove the knee bolster
problem is, that's not ultimately what's wrong and is a by-product of the real problem which is a sticking door that the cable moves. This might work for a short period of time but you most likely won't be able to turn it back from either extreme, that being full face or full defrost...need much more work to be done to fix the real problem.
Ive looked up hvac selector and hvac diverter and cand find it. What is that part actually called?
I believe the root of the problem as mentioned in other videos is the weather stripping around the flap inside the duct, I pulled the radio to access the duct, I then used a sharp utility knife to cut an access door into the duct to apply Vaseline on the sticky seal that is o the parameter of the flap, I repaired my access door and reinstalled the radio, it seems to be working thus far.
Does the same part apply if the switch is not stuck, but also not changing the vent? It feels like it’s disconnected completely
R A Yeah, the cable mechanism is probably broken, so yes.
Good video , thank you
Adam where are you storing your tool the car wash bucket 😳.
Lol just razzing you😊
FIXED MINE WITH NO PARTS NEEDED!!! if your "blend door actuator" knob is just sticking but still works sometimes when you fiddle with it, likely the sliding parts are just sticking and the cable may be ok still.
I fixed mine by removing both cable assemblies down below as in your video, then removing the white gear assembly that the cables clip into. found everything moved freely in that gear assy but still sprayed some lube on it just to be safe. then i removed the black "slider" block that both door vents hook into - it is the slider path that these 2 doors follow along that was sticking a bit. I removed the black slider block and wiped off all the grease and cleaned it. then sprayed liberal amounts of white lithium grease on all the slider tracks and any other moving parts in the whole assembly(s). lost one of the mounting screws in down into the console/floor so be careful!
reassembled and all slides reasonably smoothly, no more sticking - FIXED!.
If you had to get in and access the doors themselves due to a mouse nest or something like that then sorry this won't help...i did not see any easy way to access inside the air vent/box...
THANKS FOR THE VID!! YOU MADE IT SUPER EASY.
This right here is the real fix that needs to be done first in my opinion. If you haven't stretched out or snapped your cables in the control knob they don't need to be replaced. The dampers sticking is what is creating all the resistance when trying to turn the knob. If you don't make this fix you are just going to break the cables in the replacement control knob. Unfortunately I was procrastinating and the cables to my control knob finally broke on mine. $40 isn't too bad though compared to what a repair shop wants. I still think removing the seat isn't really worth the time if you watch this video and know where you're going.
Mines both the HVAC selector and temperature
Hey I have a 2007 Ford focus and everything is manually done seat etc. Does the steering wheel adjust?
I have similar but I am stuck in the cold setting.
I also have an 05 focus with the SAME exact problem. It's on the setting where it only comes out where my feet are. So if I'm lucky, I could just reach my hand and turn it or whatever? Or maybe I should take the time to take things apart. Haha. Thanks for the video. I'm going to try this tomorrow
All this just to replace a broken knob! Why didn't you remove the hood, trunk, and back seat also lol. Smh
Turn heater on high before trying to turn selector it will free up the goop sealing the compartment flap. Then never leave it in either the full stop in either clockwise or anti clockwise when you turn off car.
Great fix for a poor design. My wife's Focus is stuck on vent and she misses her PT Cruiser so much.
Thanks for the upload! Saved me some time hunting the forums for an answer!
Shit , f it , this is an insane amount of work to fix it..guess I'll just keep living with the defrost working
Excellent video ,very well done and thank you
I have the same problem with our Focus. How did the repair go after your bought the replacement part? Is it pretty simple to plug the new part in? Any roadblocks I will run into?
Mine is stuck on defrost so I'm assuming this is the issue. I plan on replacing 😌
How do i pop the plugs out from the knobs? I put a flat head to the top. But i cant get the bottom to release.
any help on the actual fan control speed knob? was working find two days ago then today it just stopped unless I put pressure pushing inward on knob but stopped immediately once I released any pressure. I replaced the heater resistor behind the glove box and still no go? ugh?! any help would be appreciated!! thanks.
it is the door that gets stuck in the plenum. Lubing the slides is just a bandaid the plenum need to come out and taken apart to fix it. Mechanic of 30 years
it is the section that the door is in. The correct way to fix it would be to remove the entire dash board and remove the whole unit that houses the heater and a/c core, take it apart and figure out the problem. I have not taken mine apart so I don't know exactly what is causing it. I lube mine when it wont move by spraying down the center vents. it helps for a while
Well mine is actually stuck and its not the cables....so this helps in no way
Had the same problem on my 2007 zx3. Just replaced mine today. Got it online from Rockauto. Don't remove the seat, this is waste of time and I had no problem with access. The failure is not due to a faulty cable, but because the damper mechanicals are sticking. I sprayed white lithium grease on all of the plastic moving/rubbing parts to make sure the damper switched smoothly prior to installing the new part. If you do not do this you will brake another cable - it should normally not take much force to turn the knob. Watchout - my selector switch was glued onto the fluted plastic shaft - I used a dremel to cut/grind, route the old plastic shaft from the fluted knob opening so I could reuse it.
AS I SAID IN THE VIDEO, removing the seat is OPTIONAL. I did it because I'm a big dude, and it gave me tons more room.
hi, i have the same problem on my 05, one word *RE-CALL* I bought the car used noticed the thing not working so took it to a friend he diagnosed it,so i go to the junkyard and buy the entire assembly for $40 put it on and the middle knob don't work, so i order online put the wire used it for 2 days and again it broke. i just order one more. before assembly i will grease it up. the true defect is not the wire it is the plastic not being greased up,that makes the knob work harder and eventually brakes the wire
That is the EXACT thing I thought needed to happen. That track that the cable is connected to gets stuck on that knob. I'm getting so tired of this too.
I watched this a few times and the other HVAC problem videos and could see I was in for a real hassle getting it repaired.i hate taking dashboard panels apart having done it with a old Geo Prizm to fix the heater fan. so what I ended up doing was trying to move the switch to hot,it was suck on AC.after a week of playing around at stop lights and such a few days ago it went all the way to hot! I moved it back tword AC but not all the way and ran the switch back and forth fast.then got up the nerve to run it all the way to AC and back to hot fast again.i did that a bunch of times and could hear the door flapping closed. the problem seems solved as now every time I try the switch it runs free.this is a used Focus Wagon I got a month or so ago and the owner told me about the switch problem.
i bought an 05 focus and the selector switch was stuck and the "hot or cold" switch was stuck on hot , i ordered the cable for the hot and cold selector switch and its the same part number?? is that right before i dig into the dash again the new hvac cable "yh-1624" worked perfectly on the hot and cold after i put it in , guess my question is are they the same part ?? i just needed 2 of them ?
I bet they are the same part, however I can't confirm that.
This is why I don't buy fords. My Chevy has 219,000 miles and still running strong. The ac works fine.
LULZ. I forgot. Chevy never needs any repairs. Not even one $40 one.
Plus , it wasn't clear about instructions to fix it
hello, I have a 2008 ford focus. My air setting # 3 is the same as #2. 1, 2, and 4 all work like they should. I tried replacing the resistor, and it didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?
What this video shows is not a permanent fix. If you end up replacing the cable piece that connects to the ac selector switch it will work maybe a couple of times and eventually will break again, but the real problem is the door being stuck. In other words the whole dash needs to come off the vehicle in order to fix the real problem and then replace the ac selector switch piece as shown in this video
You are indeed correct. I believe I had mentioned something to that effect in the video, but it's been so long since I made it, I'm not sure.
Indeed, the true culprit is the mechanism inside the HVAC box and the blend door itself. It gets stuck, and the cable breaks because of it. The only ways to avoid it getting stuck are to not turn the selector all the way to the right or left, or take the entire dash and HVAC box apart and fix it. I suspect most people watching this video won't be willing to do that, so at least I've shown them how to replace the cable mechanism.
mine came out with no problem.... it wasn't broken but if the cable has even a little slack it will just keep unwinding even if you mess with it and get it wound back up correctly... best bet is to just get a new cable..... easy fix.. vs the $300 your mechanic will want.
I have to make an emergency trip from Texas to Nebraska, where it is 20 degrees. I don't have time to get the part to change it out. Mine is stuck on defrost. I can see the white piece under the dash, but can't figure out how to manually turn it. What did you use to turn it manually?
Thanks for the great video. I removed both panels and removed the end at the blend door. The the knob operated fine after I removed just the end at door. That being said I couldnt move blend door by hand until I gently tapped on the plastic plate where the blend door is and then it started moving fine. Put everything back together and its fine for NOW. It wont be long until it needs real repair
Thank you SO much. I managed to make the repair for $6.50 (re-used part). Without your excellent video I would not have known where to start👍👍👍
Dude thanks man! Mine just broke in the dead of summer. I'm going to fix my car based of this video! Thank god for UA-cam because my Haynes manual didn't really tell me a whole lot
I junk yard my part. $5
Thanks for the video. Anyone wondering; follow these steps and you'll at least figure out where the problem is. Mine was a combination of the cable being stripped and the switch under the steering column was jammed as well. Ps look online first, common part stores did not have it in stock!
i just did the replace (2007) and it was easier than expected. only had to take off the trim for the radio and the plate under steering wheel. If i knew what I was doing would have taken 15 minutes. Tricky part was lining up gears on new part. thanks for the info, made my job easier. jim
I am going to do this tomorrow but I lucked up and found the whole head unit with both cables for $39 so I'm going that way. I already checked everything and know that is the problem but this video is pretty nice for the people that don't know yet. Great job man.
it worked,thank you very much.
the part was cheaper at rockauto, than the local dealers. but it took 10+ days to come.
the procedure was not easy.. but certainly doable...
thank you adam
Super! Exactly the issue I had - and very timely as we had our first hard from Sept 18th. Many thanks - no doubt saved me large dollars.
Super helpful! Mine has been busted for almost 2 years. My dad busted it accidentally but never fixed it. Now his daughter is gonna fix it by herself. Smh. Thanks again!
Great video, thx. I have to wonder why Ford has not been made to recall & fix this pathetic control design? I shot silicone spray all over the control mechanics and it helped somewhat but not sure it will last very long.
Why did you remove the seat???? Took me 15 mins to do the entire replacement just pulling the dash trim and the under dash 4 bolts.
thanks that was it.
Mine has been really hard to move for a long time, just this morning I tried turning it to defrost my windows...well it doesn't go past the middle setting. I guess I'll figure this out..
same problem with my ac/heat knob,,,there is a piece missing that the controls connect to. The white part?
Janet H Do you mean the little stub that the knob attaches to?
There a way to get at the dampers to maybe lubricate them? Seems the cables are fine but eventually fail when there is too much resistance from the damper sticking
You're awesome, Sir!! Thank you!!! You've helped a single Mom in Oregon! 🤗
