*** UPDATE 2 ** I suggested to Peterbilt they make the gauges behind the steering wheel look the same as the gauges in the B Panel instead of the silly lines. After all, it is a TV Screen and you can make it look any way you want right? If you absolutely have to make it digital, make it look the same as the analog gauges. Thoughts anyone?
I don't mind them making this cluster the standard, but I think it's ridiculous that they didn't allow us to spec the legacy gauges as an option, regardless of cab style. That screen is laggy as F which means they cut corners on the hardware powering those graphics. That laggy / choppy display would irritate me to no end
The one nice thing with this dash is the automatic gear selector is finally going to where it belongs on the 389. Up at the wheel with the jakes. Makes for a way better experience controlling what the transmission wants to do in certain situations.

NICE JOB JW. Change is always difficult, but the Engineers did a great job making these options about as basic as possible. 17 STD gauges is nice, just have to select the ones that make sense to what it is the driver is doing and what information is required. I like Old School, but this Nice. Really appreciate you taking the time to put this together.

Fucking nightmare. Whoever came up with this shit show needs an ass kicking. What was wrong with having actual guages? I'm sorry but this is just stupid. Did the engineers not realize that truck drivers really need to be looking out the windshield most of the time, not scrolling through menus and searching for buttons on the steering wheel. The more I think about it the madder I get. 40+ years driving, not my first go round.
I think this stinks and I see alot of bad shit happening because of it. Just like the new cars, there's too much shit to screw with. Nothing but distractions, why in the F would they want to put more shit in these new trucks to distract the driver like they don't have enough to do while driving. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to deal with all this new crap. Leave the God damned trucks the way they are, it's worked for us all these years, you keep putting more shit in them to keep them in the shop. 👎

@@LargeCarjw oh ok that's good to know. Never had a truck like this b4 was scared I would kill the batteries if I left the bunk AC or heat on
We don't want this digital dash. Classic Gauges should be an option. This is not for everyone. I like my custom steering wheel after so many miles.
This looks like a 579 interior not a 389.
Kind of went off on a rant on that last post. Sorry. Still hate the new video dash though.
my older brother hates it because he cant get it he says guess he's use to the old trucks without the digital options..
Scarlett, if he is looking, have him give me a call. I have about 50 389's left to choose from with the old dash in it. Many are on order but they are getting pre-sold daily.
why does the engine light stay on in new trucks?
It was brand new and extremely low on DEF.
Well least we know ..there's no more wood wheels..😁
There are already rumors of aftermarket wheels. Will put my ear to the ground. The best part about Peterbilt is the Aftermarket chrome / Lights industry are insane! Like anything else, someone will think of something cool to sell us to make these cool.
@@LargeCarjw yup ikr..
Not bad at all.
Thanks Gary.
When the screen cracks or turns black and then you can’t drive
Taking the personality out of everything. I’m not trying to be a dick but personally I don’t like it. But it will end up being the norm.
No more upgrading steering wheels, not with all them buttons on the stock steering 👎👎👎
Oh my God! Thats stupid as hell! Wow normally I don't let little things bother me. But this has seriously chased me away from ever ordering a 389 or any Pete
More stuff to go wrong. Pete's in general have a ton of electrical problems lately. Why in the world would you go this route. Thumps down. I'm old school.
Thanks Jim for the feedback on this. I was at the Peterbilt plant and Wiring is very important to them. I do have classic dashes in stock or on order but supply is going quickly. I would be happy to speak over the phone and address your concerns directly.
@@LargeCarjw keep up the good work. I enjoy your stuff. Very insightful. You guys do killer trucks.🇺🇸🇺🇸.
@@arrowkart4j Thanks Brother! I know I am opening myself up for some critical feedback, but you guys deserve the truth. The influence from the government to get rid of hood trucks is very real. This is a stepping stone Peterbilt is taking to keep the heritage alive and well. They understand how you guys feel and I have to say I was impressed with what they have done to keep the Large Cars on the highways as long as possible.
So damn. Peterbilt is losing it🤮🤯
I can find the suspension load on mine
Custom Ford Logo.
Going to as screwed up and glitchy as the smart nav junk
If you're complaining about the gauge setup, time to retire.
Don't like it
Oldskool dash is wayyyy better bilt (pun intended)
Peterbilt wants you to pay 200k for a truck with a horrid dash...
New truck already has a check engine light new trucks are crap
So much for adding a custom steering wheel smh
Oh no no no no...Not it...
umm ...just....umm....NO!!
Hate the dash man keep it old school .this new crap is messing the look of the interior of the truck .
Nope not liking it what is wrong with peterbilt
Dislike 👎🏼
Fucking nightmare. Whoever came up with this shit show needs an ass kicking. What was wrong with having actual guages?
I'm sorry but this is just stupid. Did the engineers not realize that truck drivers really need to be looking out the windshield most of the time, not scrolling through menus and searching for buttons on the steering wheel. The more I think about it the madder I get. 40+ years driving, not my first go round.
My question is , it's completely confusing and it's junk and cheap looking.
This dash sucks!! I’ll take analog old school every time.
GROSS!!
Ewww that's hideous!! Just more crap to fail.
