- 🔴 EN Oradea, a cosmopolitan city located in western Romania, won the title of the most beautiful Art Nouveau destination in Europe in 2022, according to European Best Destinations magazine. The journey begins in Piața Unirii, an ideal starting point for exploring the city, which is home to some of its most important tourist attractions.
In Oradea, you can make a fascinating foray into the history of architecture, admiring Art Nouveau buildings with curved facades and floral ornaments, Art Deco buildings with simple and geometric lines, Neoclassical buildings with imposing columns and gables, as well as Baroque buildings with rich ornaments and sculptures elaborated.
One of the highlights is the Episcopal Palace, a 19th-century neoclassical building that now houses the Museum of the Crișurilor Country, a treasure trove of artefacts illustrating the history and culture of the region.
The Greek Catholic Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built in the Baroque style in the 18th century, is famous for its carved oak altar and richly colored frescoes. Also, the Moon Church, also known as the "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" Orthodox Cathedral, impresses with its mechanism that shows the phases of the Moon and its remarkable iconostasis.
The Black Eagle Palace, an architectural gem, was originally a luxury hotel and now houses shops, restaurants and cafes. The building, with Art Nouveau influences, is distinguished by the ornamental elements on the facade, which reproduce its various functions at the time of construction, including dance scenes and significant symbols.
The Oradea Art Museum is located in the Episcopal Palace, and the neoclassical Roman Catholic Cathedral serves the local Catholic community.
The Canonic Range is an important tourist attraction, with its beautiful architecture and historical atmosphere. The city of Oradea, with its diverse architectural heritage and vibrant cultural life, attracts visitors from all corners of the world and offers a memorable experience.

The art nouveau buildings are so beautiful. The palace is incredible and the architecture is so beautiful in its neoclassical style. I love the design and detail in it. Such a beautiful church and incredible to see inside it. The artistry is spectacular. The ceiling blows me away, gorgeous! Oradea is designed so artistically. What a beautiful place!
