@@RADkate actually it's used as anti-piracy for the pc release of sonic CD. Because I somehow damaged the CD as a kid while trying to copy it using a cd burning tool.
Game installs just fine but when you try to play it, because files are missing; devil sonic appears telling me it's a pirated copy. It's very much real for the pc release.
That and there are other games that have anti-piracy as well; like max payne which actually spawns a monster to chase you. Some are hoaxes but some are very real.
Although today the biggest anti-piracy is Dennuvo which some games have actually stopped working because of it. Even fallout new vegas died due to an online-required feature dying (windows live), so Dennuvo is the new anti-piracy and it's actually killing games.

Games like this and Undertale are what i like to call "joel-core" games. They aren't just good games, but these have that sense of comedy you usually see in a Joel stream.
I was more thinking that it felt like a Vinesauce fangame than something Joel would specifically make. It's like Zeruel animated the inside of Vinny's brain.

@@rr53213rr I honestly don't ever remember that era of crash maybe outside of those awkward examples where he talks or he's as a cameo in something else. Like his outfit has always been the ripped jeans, finger gloves, the "i don't care attitude", its not like that was added. Now I, along with a lot of fans and the crash devs, like to pretend that the mutant games never happened so lets just pretend they hever happened.
Meanwhile sonic started in a similar position as crash, this kind of vague character that we get personality from their animation and movements, and totally went overboard on trying to make it trendy and "radical"
I never felt crash went that way, cringe at times maybe.

I'm actually currently playing a game called G.O.D. Growth or Devolution: Heed the Call to Awaken on SNES which must be the earliest example of an earthbound clone. It's pretty good, despite the ridiculous encounter rate.

Some fun facts about the game: I’m 99% sure the Swedish monkeys hat is meant to be a reference to you, you can grab a wall while in the air to initiate a wallrun and if you feel out of control you can cancel out of running by grabbing and then pressing the opposite direction your moving.
I'm also 99% sure of the swedish monkeys being a fecal funny because one of the only other levels where they seem to appear is the sewer level, also because the pizza tower twitter account straight up liked a tweet with a drawing of the monkeys and joel.
The old version of the entrance theme also used a joel soundbyte of him saying “monkey”

The style is like Ren & Stimpy but with the resolution and colour palette of old MS paint. Super fresh style and really smooth animation

Been watching the head behind this doing updates on Twitter and was wonderfully shocked when it was finally released. This game looks awesome and seeing Joel play through it was great.
Was curious after he mentioned Jazz Jackrabbit and checked who did the OST, according to the steam page for the OST, it was composed by Ronan "Mr. Sauceman" de Castel, ClascyJitto and Post Elvis. The composer for Jazz Jackrabbit was Alexander Brandon (Who also dead Deus Ex and numerous other games), and Robert Allen.

So Pizza Tower has a hidden rank when completing a level, P Rank and in order to get P Rank you need to get all the secrets, keep a combo going throughout the entire level and do a second lap during the escape sequence by finding the hidden portal near the exit that takes you back to the pillar room to escape a second time while the time limit keeps going, do all that and you get P Rank

I've been waiting for this game for *5 YEARS!*
I played Wario Land 4 back in 2017 and officially declared it one my favorite games of ALL time.
So a few Years later, and rejoining Twitter in 2018, I saw a certain man working on a Wario Land based game that looked like something from the Cartoon Cartoon era of CN and instantly fell in LOVE.
Played though the 1st demo, played the HELL out of the SAGE demo (And got those "Cowboy Tasks"), this WAS the only Indie Game I was focused on. (And maybe Fight Knight but... its a LONG story)
So yeah, to see it BLOWN UP popularity is astounding!

We might of not got our wario land 5 or jazz jackrabbit 3 (4 if you include the prototype) but imo this is both.
