You'd need atleast 2 nukes just to nuke a single city cause of the forts everywhere, and even if you can reliably mass produce nukes, if they're communist/fascist they will not collapse. Also, you still have to deal with the enemy's resistance which will be maxed. Nukes do nothing to counter the broken state of defense and resistance. You don't get nukes till the 2040s either while you can get this broken state of defense WAY before that. I am not going to sit in a server for almost 3 hours to get nukes just so I can defeat someone abusing the living shit out of defense.
I've been scrambling to try and find a counter to defense but nothing really works anymore. Even if you use nukes to destroy their troops and stuff, they can still win with resistance modifiers and forts
Not only that but resistance tech is another thing that needs to be completely removed because you can spam forts those 2 things working together pretty much make any common big nation late game unconquerable. They need to nerf defense in general

Defense is so broken in this game.. for example i was forming british empire and the canada player was a fort and arti spamer, and when i finally captured him (he had max resistance) he started trash talking me for being a superpower and having 3× losses like smh...
I havent played since 2022, I played the game like yesterday as russia and invaded an estonia player. I had 5k tanks and he had 50k in a fort in his capital and I still lost nearly 4k tanks. I had lightning offensive on too
Didn't even know this was that abusive, tbh just the abusive nature of support tech alone was bad enough, you should have to select which units you want to bombard with arty instead of it being automatic to at least make it somewhat fair.

Using this you can just hold out until your opponent leaves and invade his AI nation. the ability to just keep stacking modifiers takes away any sort of strategy the game has
the recent update kinda soft counters defense bombers can be used to make cities 3x easier to capture, and early-mid game you need good steel production to actually spam forts so if the player isnt a good economy user theyll never have enough forts to mega-stall although a downside is that scorching also got crunched by this, hard

So, yeah. I agree that they need to fix that issue as it is incredibly OP and somewhat annoying to some extent.

@@Bisloimo it’s a slight issue, since even a 5% buff goes a long way in the grand scheme of things (it could always be the deciding factor), and getting cucked out of a victory because someone rolled a better leader/general than you removes a portion of what little skill requirement is left in this game
As a Tonga player I can confirm that defense is absolutely broken a late game power will attempt to invade and all I have to do is spam artillery to win
One counterpoint: Nukes. In the late game you are gonna probably have the tech to nukes and all you need to do is get acces to Uranium. enrich a ton of it and then spam nukes. Then all you gotta do is nuke their troops, tank spam then ggs.
the problem is it just takes waaaay too long, and if you need nukes to beat a smaller country, then it should really make you think about the game's balance
In a ww1 event I was playing Belgium,and I maxed out my resistance and infantry technology and fortified every city,and put around 200 artillery each and 30k infantry each with Static Lines. The Russian Empire did end up defeating (most of) me,but by the time he did that he already was collapsing and Germany cleaned up the mess,this is a private sever of course and it won’t be this op in a public server,but I think this story proves defense is too op.

This is why I just rush research and city tier development and aim for quantum in 2022 because you need overwhelming tech advantage and mp economy advantage to beat heavily fortified and teched up static users camping in mountains with specialized infantry. I was able to defeat a Vietnam and Thai duo that camped 5 million troops in fortified jungles only because I was democracy Japan and I could spam unlimited artillery and bombers, if Vietnam is camping 1k artillery in fort? Fine I’ll just spawn 20k artillery nothing they can do about it. They also spammed anti air? Fine I’ll spawn 1000 bombers and bug out the game to the point anti air or fighters don’t do anything. But yeah it took 6 years with 1000% infantry attack and max artillery and 12 million losses to take Thailand and Vietnam after I beat them they accused me of cheating and alting so if it takes people to think you’re cheating for beating their max static fort troops that’s shows how unbalanced the meta of the game is rn
the spending is only military spending so not really. eitherway if you are a big nation you usually wont be invaded early on, but stalward defense + forts will work eitherway.

For Example Base Tank Stat=20 Infantry=5 20x20=400 5x20=100 Anti Tank adds %275 attack Against Tank Essentially Means 275 As Attack Stat This is Just a Example to Understand, Tank In every way Is superior In attack And Thats also Observable by Maxed Infantry and tank Trying to capture resistance maxed forted city

The gameplay got 100x more complicated. After elecs nerf it was consumer goods now the servers are so big you can barely sell any.
