I agree to an extent. Geographical location would be the most important factor. I started driving for the first time last Friday night from 11:30 pm to 6:00am. Sat. night same start time only $40.00 same hours. Go figure. I will try this Friday during the morning and early evening around 7:00 pm my rating so far is 4.93
Here in downtown los angeles it is a gold mine anytime. I just hate when the app send me a request from passenger 26 minutes away? Not only once but maybe 4 or 5 request from different passengers which i do not accept since im sitting in a hot zone or power zone waiting for request that are much closer than 26 minutes away for picking up a passenger? This hurt my driver rating from my usual 100 acceptance rate? Now i found out i can accept the ride and then Call the passenger and let them know that they might want to cancel the ride and not be charged a cancel fee after i think two minutes, and thus not hurting my driver rating. It works, sometimes some people don't mind waiting long wait times forcing you into cancelling the ride and hurting your driver rating?
Corey Barnes Yeah man I hate sitting in a hot zone and not getting any close bites..I have NO idea why that happens. Their algorithm for passing out rides is “fair” I guess, but it seems like you can tell pretty easy when other drivers in the area have ALL passed on a ride and then it pops up for you. There are so many factors that go into that, its crazy.
Sebastien Delva it depends on your area but generally yeah. So think about it, night is when people are going out to drink, getting off work, getting a ride to people’s houses, stuff like that. That’s when alot of demand tends to spike. But then again you also probably have more drivers active so that’s more competition.
Sebastien Delva for sure. just try one week during days/mornings if you can and then try nights. i’ve had times during mornings where i was just as busy as holiday bar crowd nights so it depends. Where you driving out of?
Rob C I mean yes and no. Finding your busy points in your area is essential. I usually find early morning like 6-8am and 5-7pm are busy in my area. Your city’s lyft riders may commute at a different time then you’re driving. The real issue you might be facing is that lyft isn’t used in your market like it needs to be. In that case get some referral code cards and hand them out to bars, at the mall, whatever. Make some referral cash and increase the volume in your area.
I just decided to do some other stuff. I never really planned to make a career path, but it was a pretty awesome few months. Met so many cool people driving every day. Honestly like only one of my rides was terrible. Lex is a great city.

Corey Barnes how much do you average per week?
50hrs a week or 70hrs a week with 50hrs of actual driving? There is a big difference. I drove Fri Sat Sun 9+9+6=24hrs actual driving was 18hrs
Mihaly Freeman Yeah i meant 50 hours total all things considered.

can these suggestions be used for small markets where I go about 2-3 hours without a ride request?
