  • Learn how to install shutters onto a 3 section casement window. This shutter design uses full height panels with Tpost to ensure the shutters matches the window design.
Sam from opennshut.co.uk demonstrates how to install the shutter kit so that you can measure and install shutters yourself, ie DIY.
I've already assembled the outer L frame and fitted the Tposts within the frame, you can find out how to do this using the PDF fitting guides on the website here: www.opennshut.c...
Fitting can be easy, just follow these simple 6 steps and watch the video to see how:
Step 1. Lift the frame into the recess and insert some wooden or plastic wedges to hold it into place. Ensure there is an equal gap between the wall and frame, this is called the shadow gap.
Step 2. Check you have fitted the panel feet underneath the shutters, then lift the shutters into the frame and drop in the hinge pins to secure them in place. Remember, all the hinges are pre-fitted so panels will slip easily into place.
There should be equal gap between the shutters and frame, hold the frame against the window and open the shutters to ensure they open correctly.
Step 3. Make any adjustments but moving the frame left and right or up down, there should be a 5mm shadow or clearance gap between the wall and frame. Tighten the wedges and stand back so you can check the shadow gap looks equal all round the frame.
Step 4. Insert the screws supplied into the pre-drill holes around the frame, then tighten a few screws and check the shutters open and shut correctly. When your happy, screw in the rest of the screws to secure the frame in place.
Step 5. Fix the final hinge screw into place using the small screws provided. Remember, when using Tposts there are two sizes of hinge screws, use the small screws for the TPost hinges.
Step 6. Remove the backing from the double sided tape on the insert strips, push them into the front of the frame to cover up the fixing screws.
    DESIGN:
The shutters shown in the video are Standard Plus finished in silk white with large 89mm louvres with a hidden tilt rod. This design was chosen to match the windows, simple wide panels and louvres provide maximum light.
The middle rail on the windows was small, so no rail in the panel was needed, instead the hidden tilt rod was split halfway to provide extra privacy.
