- Snake eggs and incubation. When breeding snakes you have to think about the all important task of hatching snake eggs. That means you need to think about what kind of snake egg incubator you want to use. It all depends on how many snake clutches and how much money you want to spend. We'll show you some options from really cheap all the way to full room egg incubators. Will we hatch a Super Chocolate Wonka Ball?
SnakeBytesTV is a weekly series featuring all kinds of snakes, reptiles and other extreme or dangerous animals. Sometimes we get attacked or suffer painful snake bites, but mostly we answer your questions and provide you with exciting and interesting information.
SnakeBytesTV is produced by BHB Reptiles, one of the worlds largest snake breeding facilities, and is hosted by Brian Barczyk. New episodes every Wednesday!

@jessigrady22 Glad you learned a bit about bators! Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
hey, just wanted to say that you guys at bhb reptiles are soo lucky! i mean that would be a huge responsibilty to care for all the snakes that you have, but reptile lovers will probably never get such an awesome opportunity like you guys
lads i think that was your best skit yet!!!
@XxZaShLeYoBsEsSeDxX Yeah, Michigan is the same way! Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
Growing up in So Cal, I remember one day it got up to about 87 degrees! So hot that my friends and I had to grab our surfboards and hit the beach, it was intense! (LOL)
Great show as always!
@johnythanj Sorry, I have no control over the adds anymore. I hate adds, but understand that our company that we're signed to has to make money. Sorry about that? Thanks for watching! Brian(Sbtv)
@whoajoe1 I am so scared of tornados! Thanks for watching! Brian(Sbtv)
Thanks for the reviews on the incubators and tips on DIY incubators, great work as always.
Hey Brian and crew, thanks for another great episode! It's always nice to see the "behind the scenes" of the industry - thanks for taking us into your walk-in, that was really cool. Lastly, poor George, you'd better gettem back.
@Dhampire666 Thanks for liking it! I really appreciate it a lot! Brian(SBtv)
HAHA! This has got to be the funniest episode I've seen so far! That one guy thought chicken eggs were snake eggs!! LOL!! Too cute!!
@theguywhoconfuses Yeah, I have heard that about your weather. I would still love to come and visit your awesome country sometime. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@YounggJewelz Lansing, Michigan?
@ConfusedAlien666 Thanks so much for liking it! Brian(Sbtv)
Hi Brian I'm just wondering what heaters you would recommend for an incubator.
@NatalieJanine Yeah, I have driven in storms like that! Makes for a tough trip! Glad you made it home safe! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@MtnHerper13 Haha, we get 8 inches on a light day of snow.lol Thanks for watching, Brian(Sbtv)
I"m trying to bread my first set of snakes this season what settings do I use on the incubater on the degrees
do you put any holes in the tub for the hatchlings when you put them in the incubator?
Thank you! My ball python I got a month ago laid 3 eggs. I wanted to breed her but my male wasn't ready, so I wasn't prepared for eggs yet. Thank you so much! I know what to do now.
you guys are the coolest and I love all the snakes yall have
what do I need to put in the egg box so the eggs could rest on something.
@DarkwingsAngel I do prefer a sealed box with hatch rite even for these types of incubators, with the exeption of the kemps. That one hold humidity super well. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
The reptibator seems to be working really well, I have my first clutch of corns in it right now!
not much in the way of weather here in NC....the most action we see is a heavy thunderstorm here and there...the hurricanes are pretty epic though...i love them....i learned a lot about incubation Brian...thanks man
Can I use Hatch Rite for my false water cobra eggs? Thanks.
love all your vids !! keep up the good work
I have a thermostat for a homemade fridge incubator, but I don't have a hydrometer. How should I know if the humidity levels are okay?
@VideoCritic177 Yeah tornados scare the heck out of me! Glad it missed you! Brian(Sbtv)
Excellent episode this week, guys!
@Recon9143 Thanks so much! Appreciate the support! Brian(Sbtv)
What should I do if my snake had a clutch of eggs but she had one eggs stuck ?!
I could spend hours watching your videos.. awesome!
@all4athena I was in Fla for Hurricane Charlie, the eye went right over where we were and it was pretty awesome. Felt so bad for the people that lost their houses and businessed, but it was an interesting experience! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
nice episode brian! just when i was about to research on incubators and pop goes your episode on incubators lucky me! I currently reside in the Philippines and typhoons are pretty common here but typhoon ondoy was by far the worst that hit the Philippines. imagine a whole day with heavy rain = one hell of a FLOOD. Alot the people got stranded in the buildings they work at/homes and the parked cars along the streets literally started floating moving with the current. now that was insane.
The one with humidity control interests me a lot! The space doesn't matter cuase i don't breed any snakes but right now i'm trying to breed uroplatus phantasticus. Love the DIY's you made man.
Thanks for the incubation pro tips, btw I used a closet for my first clutch of python eggs, it was not pretty but those eggs hatched... Thanks!
How do you heat your racks and control the temperature
Y’all are funny 😄
Very useful info thanks
I breed BPs thinking of going to hatch rite. I’m scared about changing and losing a clutch. Have been using vermiculite. I have hatched 6 clutches. It’s been tough at fighting the mold losing an egg or two. I also have my heat set for 91. If any info on improvements would be great. Thank you.
Some awesome incubators and BIG Props on another great breeding season for BHB Reptiles!!! Love your walk in incubator room and I also use the oil filled electric heaters in my snake room and they are totally awesome for keeping constant temps. Poor ("Dorothy") got "EGGED"!!! LOL . Another great video guys and love your team there Brian they sure bring a lot of fun into the work ahead.
What about the hovabator incubator
@JOEY69993 Of course it was a spoof. We do a lot of pranks, but it's hard to catch all the camera angles that you need to make it look funny. Glad you liked the show and I agree the repibators seem awesome! Brian(Sbtv)
@seriouskitten I would use a cheaper incubator for leo eggs. They are super easy to hatch so no need for expensive incubators. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
Snakebytes Please help! I am thinking about breeding my Normal Ball Female with a male but I am more nervous of her latching on in the end with biting me, is there other ways I could remove her away from the eggs?
Hahah very Good episode, hilarious and informing, can't beat it!
In my opinion, the hovabator is definitely the best bang for your buck. I've hatched eggs in it, it keeps temperature and humidity good, pretty much the same as the reptibator, except without a hygrometer, and it's only $40+shipping on LLLReptile. You can pick up a hygrometer for a few bucks anyways and save yourself $70 or so.
@poopoip No, it's actually perlite with a water polymere in it. I love the product! Thanks ,Brian(Sbtv)
@InspctrClouseau Thanks for understanding! Brian(Sbtv)
Im breeding my frist clutch next year, but im not using a incubater cause i live in Austrailia ... is that alright?
Will hatchright in the shoebox tub maintain proper humidity for the entire incubation length? or would holes need to be put in the tub and humidity maintained throughout the incubator and adjusted accordingly throughout incubation? Thanks for any replies!
what if u dont want to incubate the eggs?? can u take them out right when there done laying? or do u have to wait like with birds?
@mcnumaya Yeah, should be an awesome contest over there! You need a good size incubator for a few retic clutches. I would say a fridge built one is the cheapest and best way to go? Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
do you like other reptiles besides snakes? and what about amphibians? or inverts???
Great video. Love the incubator styles. Any specific incubators you use on Woma python eggs? I have tried twice to incubate them and have been unsuccessful. They always seem to go bad after 3 to 4 weeks in incubation. Any tips would be much appreciated! Thanks Brian for the great shows!
Awesome informative video!!
like i already said on the last weeks episode: nice reflexes at 0:16 dude! :D
do u think i could bp eggs in the zoomed incubator?
Can someone send me a link to a cheap but good incubator for 1or 2 clutches of eggs?
do I have to have a incubator for a corn snake eggs and what do I do need some advise
@azemiopsfeae Sorry to hear about that. I messed with it a bit and it seemed really good, but I did not use it for an entire season? Thanks for letting me know. Brian(Sbtv)
what size tank heater should i use for the homemade incubater
@mstamour34 No, Chewy is here and great as always! He'll be in next weeks show! Thanks, Brian(SBtv)
@BIGALSREPTLES Thanks for leaving the voicemail! I hope it can be a cool part of the show! Appreciate it! Brian(Sbtv)
i am hoping to be a future breeder but i dont want something super expensive is it true for like beardies using moss?
what about the exo terra incubator? not worth the mention? I'm planning on breeding satanic leaf tails and I really liked the exo terra incubator.
@Pinstripechap Yeah, it's super hot here in Michigan this year too. Maybe one of the hottest summers I can remember. I love the heat, so I am happy:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@1990kikyo Haha, glad you liked it:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@moondarse I think I would like the weather from where you are from! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
Your guy's show is so awesome keep it going!!!
Is hatch rite really that good I heard a lot of bad things from it I heard it drys eggs out is that true?
@SoundwaveX7 Yeah, we have nad very little rain here too. Nice not to have to cut the lawn.lol Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@varigated I like the sounds of Denmark. On my long list of places to visit! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@reptile411 Yeah, that can work too, but you do have to keep an eye on it! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
I bred my two corn snakes but when the eggs were layed..I put them in a homemade incubator I made but the eggs just sunk in immediately. What did I do wrong?
Awesome vid. loved it. It really helped a lot. As for Khel's question, the worst weather I've been through was on a trip up north with my dad. We drove through 6 hours of tornado infested storm clouds, hail, and heavy wind and rain from the start of the storm until its finish at around midnight. It was an awesome experience, scary at times, but I got to spend some quality time with my dad. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video. -Mercedes.
When i was in Hong Kong i was visiting the Famous Tiger Mountain. The temperature was over 40 Degress, then suddenly when i was praying to the gods , rain started too fall, each rain drop was at least the size of a toonie. THE RAINDROPS HURT!!! everyone huddled up and with umbrellas, but my brother and i Played in the rain and splashed on the water!!!! When the rain started to calm down my brother and i were pretty down, but 2 minutes later it started to rain again!!! the weather in hk is crazy!
@TJsHerps Nothing new that I can think of? What did you notice? Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@Trulyblind1 With Womas it more about the incubation medium. If you can get hatch rite you will hatch them a lot better. I had a few clutches this year and have not lost one egg. They can not get wet or they go bad. Hatch rite is perfect for Woma eggs! Thanks, BRian(Sbtv)
@randomkillin Let me know what you have tried and I will help the best I can. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
hey brian im sure you have snakes that are pure escape artists wat do you do about there cages
do the boxes you put the eggs in already come with the incubator
@omerj2000 Yeah, it is weird how that happens. Glad you made it through okay! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@dinomanj Crazy! Any hurricane is nuts! I have only been in one. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
My lady just laid a surprise clutch today as I was temporarily housing my two balls together during our move this summer, I went out and bought the Reptibator, the man at the exotic store gave me a tuperware container and even mixed in the Sphagnum Moss I purchased for me, he said to just place the eggs in there and leave it alone. I've been reading how it may dry out-- does this method sound sufficient?
@GunnerBoyz514 Yeah, I was impressed with it. Thanks Brian(Sbtv)
Loved when he got egged!! LOL!! Hahahahahahhaahhhahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahhhahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahah
@DarknezzPoo Yeah, we have had a couple of those this summer already. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
Dude, I've been through some serious weather! I grew up with hurricanes and tornadoes in Biloxi. We lived in the NorthEast for a while for work, got to experience a couple of nor-easters there.
@AnimalBytesTv what's the song at 3:52 ?
@boredom9298 I used to do that show every year, but I'm always in Cali for the NARBC the same weekend. I hope to come back sometime? Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
I wouldn't say its too extreme, but during 2008-2009. I was living down in Arizona. And a huge mircoburst came through. Which is normal for down there, but then it started snowing. That's almost unheard of in Mesa.
@PvtRager Oh boy! That would be a tough one! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@tommyquantumcroix I remember that storm, it came through here too! Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
loved the eggs!
@boasrbeast It's a bit warm, but I think they'll be okay. I prefer to see them in the low 80's. Let me know how things turn out. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
hi i need to know can you breed to different types off boas
@warman0712 Sorry I did miss that, total cost was about $2k. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@beanerico Python will maternally incubate. It takes a lot out of them and sometimes you will lose eggs. You can do it though. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
@JandDReptiles Thanks as always Jeremy! Can't wait to start playing with those Macklots I got from you! Brian(Sbtv)
