He is too used to people following his orders but with a 249g drone you really cannot stop it going anywhere other than near an airport or over more than 1000 people in a crowd like a festival. This drone will be the trigger for many videos as we travel around.

If you can, where would you prefer them to be, embedded in cement and made into roads or dumped in a landfill where everything including all the REALLY poisonous organics can leach out? When I worked for a Council waste management group within Leicestershire quite a few years ago we got a lot of grief from some residents about the efforts to encourage recycling. Even then we were telling them that one of the options was incineration and it is interesting to find that it finally happened. I believe that Germany has been using this system for a long time with the heat being used for power generation.
Great drone work I've always said burning rubbish to make energy is a good idea. I wonder if they could start excavating the landfills and incinerate to make energy?
I have been involved in digging and collecting Victorian Bottles for many years, these items are dug from Victorian refuse dumps, the dumps themselves made up of probably 99% coal ash and cinders. Back in the eighties a few companies were offering rewards for information regarding the location of large Victorian dumps. They would do a deal with the owner and extract the ash for re burning in I believe coal fired power stations. I don't know how many were dug out but there was a massive site excavated in Manchester. This involved lots of machinery, the ash was loaded into a screening machine and the screened ash came out on one conveyor and the bottles, pots and crockery came out on another much to the delight of collectors who descended on the site after hours and on a week end. I have not heard of it being done since.

I live about 500 metres from one, different company to this one, and the one by me burns wood but it stinks, the residents of our town have been fighting it for years.
A lot of wood product from Scandinavia is imported into the UK to be burnt as "green energy". It's total bullshit. Ukraine just makes things worse in the short term for Europe generally. I believe most of the wood burning is in plants in the North East, closer to the ports.
Lancashire County Council have planning submission for a similar incinerator as Shepshed just about to be heard in the next few months. The waste will be medical waste which gives off particulates that can travel upto 5 miles away depending on the weather & plume at the time. People don't understand the size of this particulates that are harmful to life long term. The government don't care as most planning applications are being put in less affluent areas of the country conviently.
ah, but it's so much better than their previous schemes of paying the mafia to throw it tinto the Mediterranean Sea or ship it across the globe to, uh, developing countries.
One of the things that concerns me, that their promotional video doesn't mention, is where is all the fabric for their 'bag filtration system' sourced from, and where does all the used polluted fabric end up? You can't just incinerate it because it's so full of pollutants that would simply clog up the next lot of fabric instantly. Also what happens to all the heavy metal contamination that get's removed from the process? I can't imagine it just vanishes. Don't get me wrong, I don't think these sites are bad, but they do seem to gloss over the negatives a bit too much. We are clever people, we KNOW waste management is always going to have drawbacks, I'd rather them be frank and honest about it than try to hide it.

Well done for sticking to your guns. Had so many issues over the years trying to fly my drone, I sold up more than once. Finally the laws are clear now, with the mini 2, its black and white, no grey areas.
To be fair.. as Drone pilot and taken the qualifications to fly larger aircraft, its not surprising Joe public doesn't understand the law, its complex enough for pilots. Even with 249g you must not fly over crowds, if a few construction workers constitutes a crowd, your guess is as good as mine :-). Keeping the 50m away from uninvolved people was a wise move.
I used to fly RC planes when I was younger and I've been interested in getting a drone, but a lot of the area where I live (Darlington/Middlesbrough) is restricted airspace due to the 2 Airports and multiple RAF facilities we have up here.
Brilliant vlog DJ that was very interesting, the site is 197 miles from me so no chance of me smelling it. But there is one I pass regularly here in Devon which I do, so not completely odourless.

Excellent video and commentary. I can only hope that incineration process has greatly improved over the years. The incinerator l was involved with spent almost as much down time as it did running time due to the large amount maintainance and cleaning required which in itself was a high cost. I've worked at many ERF sites and I must say that short video is bang on. I'm one of the guys that removes and replaces the boiler tubes. I'm led to believe they are very efficient and definitely better than landfill or sending it to China just so we can feel good.

There is an incinerator in bedfordshire - new opened at stewartby and the near by village often complains of a burning rubber smell which sticks to clothes and can be smelt in their houses a few miles away..
I think these energy plants are great, shame we can't use our own coal though as well after all the flue emmission scrubbing systems are highly suffisticated these days and can turn the old flue stack gasses into very clean vapours just as shown in this plant.
Biggest mistake we ever made selling things off. Resources, power plants, airports, any public transportation. Should be owned by the people! Too many people in government since the day it began the only looking out for themselves to make quick money

What needs to be investigated is the level of subsidies that these plants receive ... The concept may be good, but the economics are very dubious.

Probably the fullest explanation I've heard for the reason for auditing a site.

Excellent video and commentary. I can only hope that incineration process has greatly improved over the years. The incinerator l was involved with spent almost as much down time as it did running time due to the large amount maintainance and cleaning required which in itself was a high cost.

Totally agree with the burning of rubbish with power as a by product. As long as filtered it’s fine. That’s a genuine sustainable and effective use of waste. Most people don’t think what happens to their crap when they Chuck it , you just need to see the road side verges for that . Huge in Scandinavia one of the most successful countries in that respect.

I've worked at many ERF sites and I must say that short video is bang on. I'm one of the guys that removes and replaces the boiler tubes. I'm led to believe they are very efficient and definitely better than landfill or sending it to China just so we can feel good.

There is one of these energy from waste incinerator built near Edinburgh, working now for two years working very well . No smells or problems
There is an incinerator in bedfordshire - new opened at stewartby and the near by village often complains of a burning rubber smell which sticks to clothes and can be smelt in their houses a few miles away..

I think these energy plants are great, shame we can't use our own coal though as well after all the flue emmission scrubbing systems are highly suffisticated these days and can turn the old flue stack gasses into very clean vapours just as shown in this plant.
Not our "own" coal anymore... thiiink it was sold to foreign interests back in the 1980s :(
coal and minerals in the UK generally belong to foreign companies who do not want it mined as they can sell us their energy and make greater profits.
Biggest mistake we ever made selling things off.
