For UK collectors looking to get some new Kino Lorber discs, Boutique Home Video are currently having their biggest sale here - www.boutiquehomevideo.co.uk/kino-lorber-2/
Boutique Home Video is an interesting one and good to know about because I hadnt come across this one before actually. I currently use WowHD to get my imports from the US and still recommend them as they are often the cheapest and the ones with the most selection. Looking at even the titles on sale on BHV and WowHD looks to still be cheaper than those. I also got Face/Off before Christmas and I am so happy to have it because the old blu-ray was so terrible. It was one of the films I wanted the most on 4k along with The Fly (1986) which is still yet to get a release.
I used to buy from WowHD many years ago but had some bad experiences. Some discs went missing and customer service weren’t helpful at all. Maybe they’ve changed since but they left a sour taste from that time 😩
I've been chipping away over the last few months with Kino titles, I personally buy mine off ebay from a great seller. I own Face off, Red Dragon, Staying Alive, Kindergarten Cop, The original Italian Job, Misery, Ronin, Silence of the lambs and the usual suspects, the first one I bought was The Good the The bad and the ugly which looks fantastic even though absolutely no HDR at all was applied. Thank God for sellers who can give us these titles without paying a massive fortune to import.
The same thing happens going the other way. I ordered True Romance from Arrow UK through Amazon. The case was completely mangled. The disc survived and got transplanted into a new case.
Hey Elliot, I have to say thank you to you so, thank you. Now my reasoning for the latter is that I'm so grateful that the content you provide is continuing to be regular. To me this is a huge deal as your channel is one of my two go to movie collecting channels. My other go to is Graham at Man v Film. Do you know of his channel? Anyway you are both exceptional at reviewing films. Thank you
Great reviews Elliot. Always enjoy Clint movies so T&Lightfoot 4k is now on my list. Im hoping Where Eagles Dare will get the 4k special edition treatment at some stage. It’s one of his best with Richard Burton on a men in a men on a mission movie up against the nazis!
Always found my experience with Red Dragon ironic in that when my friend and I saw it on its opening weekend in October 2003 we were both 18 and we were finally seeing a Hannibal Lector film at the cinema, only to be confronted with a 15 rated film😂 It must have been years since I last saw this film cause I had the BD still sealed and I sold it a few months ago when my friend brought me back the KIno Lorber 4K, which is also still sealed and languishing on my shelf😂 Having said that, it is no Manhunter which IMO is miles better. It was the same with Hannibal, I bought the Kino Lorber 4K on an impulse when it was first released and I only watched it a year or so ago 😂
THIS RELEASE IS A PURE "DISASTER"! They corrected it vertically but CROPPED so heavily on the sides (compared to the us collectors edition bluray) that all cinescope-feel and the vision of the director and cinematograph was destroyed! King Lorber should not get any other movie-rights!
Excellent vid Elliot, love Face-off, brilliant action film..Thunderbolt And Lightfoot is a underrated film, years since I've seen it,George Kennedy was brilliant 😊
As good as Face/Off and Hard Target are I think Woo’s HK films are his best. It’s a shame that it’s basically impossible that we’ll ever get a 4K of those
what happened to the idea of when you sold nearly everything and then mindfully built up again? Is that still what you are doing? Not a criticism just genuinely curious as the issues and lessons apply to us all! :)
Yeah it’s absolutely something I’m still mindful of, though I’ll admit the philosophy does fall by the wayside sometimes. I’m actually planning some videos on collecting habits and curating a collection soon, so look out for those. Thanks for watching!
@@ElliotCoen At the end of the day if we want to watch the film we have to buy the film, so maybe the question is less about acquisition and more about the decision whether to sell or not afterward
Yeah it’s not a cheap thing collecting imports sadly. Face/Off is a great disc though. I don’t think any of the Kino 4Ks have gone out of print so there’s no rush to get the disc soon. Thanks for watching!
@ElliotCoen I'll make do with my Cage Parmount BD Double Feature of F/O and Snake Eyes for now! SE is another Cage film that deserves a 4K! Excellent vid as always! No gimmicks, telling us how it is. Keep it real EC! 👌🤘👏

Face/Off is such a crazy little ride. One of my wife’s favorite action films. Bought her the 4K for Christmas.
That’s a great gift! It is a crazy ride indeed. Thanks for watching!

Just bought Night of the Hunter, my first 4k from Kino Lorber, very excited!
It’s a great disc! Enjoy :)
I agree with you on Face/Off, the concept is bold the execution is masterful.
If we could get this sort of creativity in a blockbuster today, I’d be happy! Thanks for watching

Yeah it’s unfortunate. They don’t realise (or care) that what is being shipped across the world is a collectible item!
thank you for the info on this sight just put in order for high noon 4 k price a lot better than amazon thanks again steve
I just ordered this now. I haven’t upgraded to 4K, so I’m glad they included a 1080p blu ray.🕺😎

Thanks so much Jeff, the support means a lot! I watch Graham’s videos very often. He’s a great guy. I’d like to chat movies with him someday. Cheers!

I’d love to see Where Eagles Dare get a 4K too! Great suggestion. Cheers for watching!
.. quick question .. is the only way to get Umbrella releases direct from their website in Aus, or is there a cheaper, more homegrown way?

Haha that’s a great story, thanks. And indeed, we need a good Manhunter disc!

Ah I should have mentioned George Kennedy! I love when he pops up in a movie. Always plays a great character. Cheers Marty.

hope alive!

So desperate for Face/Off in 4K. But those Kino discs are not cheap 💿 😢

If you like Red Dragon check out Michael Mann's Manhunter, it's superior,
I’m hoping for a 4K disc soon!
MANHUNTER is far superior to RED DRAGON, and in need of a 4K.
It really is in need of a 4K! The old Blu-ray is not great
Imagine talking about red dragon and not mentioning its a terrible remake of a Michael Mann masterpiece.
No.
Face off is horrible, it isn't worth spending a penny in this!
This is blasphemy! One of the greatest action films of the 90s :)
