Hi, one of most rare explaination of importants bases! Thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
question to see i have the info correct my set up is 24v battery bank fused then runs to a Master isolation, this has two outputs to a bus bar and one input form Alternator, the two positive go to a bus bar then fused opposite posts to a Victron 24/5000 inverter charger, there are out out puts from this bus bar also to Victron Battery protects then to other distributions. From what you say i have it correct ? thanks for your answer or anyone else
I have four 6v batteries,in a 12v system.i have both sets running to junction posts.from there it gets distributed through the boat. Can hook the inverter to the junction posts
Exactly Spon
On What Mentioned
I have a victron 3000 watt inverter I am getting no power out of it I get 11.7 volts in and 12.5 when the boat is running I have no lights on the charger or the aux panel I have checked all fuzz all ok and switch I disconnected the pos wire and still get same voltage can you help me
First off, is your Victron an Inverter only or an inverter/charger?
Assuming you have an inverter/charger, you’ll need to have an AC source (shorepower or generator) powering the AC input for the inverter/charger. Once the inverter/charger has an AC input the charger function should work. The inverter function should when the DC posts of the inverter are connected to a good battery voltage (e.g. 12 VDC). The inverter function will then provide an AC output.
Hope this helps.
I am really sorry but on your diagram it shows the inverter/charger hooked to the bus bar and not directly to the battery, so I'm confused and I also want my battery monitor to tell me how much the inverter is using as well, am I looking at this wrong. Thanks
Hi Hardy, a unswitched distribution is effectively a connection at the battery, but not literally. One could not connect all wires directly to a battery as the maximum amount of connections is 4 on one post. Your battery monitor measures amps on the negative side of the distribution.

Perfect, thank you again
I have Gracie P
Powerboat got no
Electrical power
From microwave or grill
Just went out
On me today tried
Switching maines
On and off kept tripping
Dont know
What issue
Think inventor
Two power boxes
One outside
Back boat
Other marina
Number 11 switched one
On and then get
Other going off dont know problem
Asked reception can't do anything why curios
(1.46) You said "they should always never be un-switched" - i.e. they should be switched...Did you mean to say that ?? Because you then went on to say they should be connected directly to the battery...
Hi ColGadarby, good question. An inverter/charger circuit needs it's own dedicated on/off switch connected to the unswitched distribution of the battery.

Everyone already know this.
Stop trying to make simple installation into 3 min long videos so youtube will recommend them. That's such a low brow youtuber tactic.
