A selfie video has captured pickpockets in the act of snatching a purse from the handbag of a Thai tourist as she walked with a friend through London’s West End.

Imagine living such a fake life. All luxury, earrings, nice sunglasses and clothes and you still steal and pickpocket from people like a low life. Another reason to never trust what people say or post about online. A lot of frauds out there

To anyone who feels bad for the thieves: I've been homeless and with zero income, I was hungry, cold, but I never ever pickpocketed anyone or stole a civilian. It's not an excuse. If you're hungry there are other ways to find food. And if you don't need food but fancy clothes or makeup, you're not that poor

The saddest part is that whatever small consolation that comes with the possibility that the pickpocket was desperate is immediately gone judging by the outfits of the pickpockets. They seem well off and aren’t stealing for necessity.
Probably their eastern european bosses would disagree.
When you look closely there are even 4 of them...they surrounded the tourists blocking the sight for potential witnesses.
London isn’t safe. I’ve lived there 25 years and have had so much stuff stolen. Wear your bag in your front. Have nothing in your back pockets. And if you’re cycling anywhere, hire a bike, don’t take any expensive bike around. I’ve had 2 stolen. One from a site where they had to make 10 ft drop and break a heavy chain to get to it.
To be honest I’ve not had issues in the past. Maybe I just look poorer than you? 😂

Poor but caring about the ecosystem
When I was a student, I almost got picked in almost everywhere of Europe, from Switzerland to England to France etc. It's so not safe travelling there, only extra burden added to have to take care of the belongings instead of being on holidays. I rather travel to Japan or Singapore.
My dad was well aware of pickpocketers so he put his wallet in his front pants pocket...
He was shocked and couldn't understand how they still managed to pickpocket him.

usually happens while you are crossing a major avenue. You are focused on getting across, and the traffic. They blend in . Back in the mid 80's, my friend and i were crossing 6th avenue in NYC at lunch hour outside our office building Midtown by Radio City Music Hall. Her purse was on a shoulder strap riding on her left hip, with her left hand on the purse. 2 seconds into our crossing, a women came up on her left and put her arm around my friend's shoulder and starting speaking in a heavy french accent. Her approach was as if she knew my friend and was saying something like "how are you! It's been a long time!". My friend lifted her hand in reaction to being touched by a stranger, then she shook her shoulders and told the women to get off of her. The whole interaction lasted about 3 seconds and we are walking the whole time. When we finished crossing the street, my friend noticed the zipper on her purse was opened, her wallet inside was unclasped and another internal zipper was unzipped. 1/2 a second more the pickpocket would have gotten her credit cards. I'm thinking now that perhaps another person came between us to work the purse. Never thought of that until today. all these years i thought the woman doing the jostling perhaps used her left hand to work the purse. Again, happened so fast.
Beware when travelling to parts of europe and UK. Better off with an anti theft kind of purses or bag

Exactly, i only carry limited cash and just two cards (debit and credit) and stick them in a pouch in my bra. Sadly these women messed up by carrying not only an open purse but also $500 cash and all their cards.

The Thai women in the video were talking about how charming and beautiful the country is. They mentioned that it was the land of Harry Potter and how magical the atmosphere was. Took bad they lost all that magic

Very Unfortunate. However the goodness shown in helping these Thai women recover their belongings will be very appreciated. I find Thai people very KIND and FORGIVING. A couple free coupons "on the house" from the tourist board and a little friendly "advice" will go along way.

I've been followed so many times that I started skipping down the aisles just to tease them.
This one time I went to rite aide and I swear the manager asked me three times if I needed assistance and I had politely declined each time, Because I knew what I wanted.
He stood in the same aisle as I did for the duration of my search.
This caucasian couple asked him for assistance and he showed them where to go then hurried back to me.
When I purchased my items and exited the store, the white couple ran out of the emergency exit with four cases of beer and I laughed.

Paris is notorious for scammers and pick pockets. Don't talk to those old ladies telling you about some jewelry they see or something, they're not working alone. They scam tourists into paying them or they'll report you that you stole the jewelry from them. The same goes for the old ladies in Spain and Italy that would sit beside you, they pick pockets as well.

That's why when I go out, I put my purse to the front instead of the side or behind me. I've caught strangers trying to get too close to and I realise it and I forcefully put my purse in front of me. They just look at me or move on. My motto is that you always have to be cautious when it comes to purses and kids.

This I agree with. I've witnessed first hand my sister get pickpocketed and a random stranger steal her IPhone in a store. I told her you either had your purse behind you or was open (her purse on clip purse than a zippered one) Thankfully we got it back with the find my phone app for Apple. We followed the address to where the phone GPS was at (she first locked access to her phone with my other sister phone), called in Apple and they told us that we could call 311 to get a cop at the residence. Two cop cars went to the residence and told them the phone wasent there but the police found the phone near thr residence...it had been thrown from a two story window and was cracked. Thankfully my younger sister had insurance to get it replaced...all we cared about was getting that phone back. The people that we got GPS too seemed wealthy too...lived in a nice neighborhood with sports cars and all.
*overall, always be cautious about what you carry and how you protect them. Same goes with kids because you can't always judge a book by its cover*
Never look like a tourist in a major city. I don’t care where in the world it is, they target you the same way. Don’t get distracted. Put your camera away, always wear your purse and your wallet to the front of your body where you can see it, not the side or back. Especially if you’ve been shopping. If you’ve been shopping at Louis or any high fashion store, don’t go exploring a rough part of the city that day. Don’t do the stuff that the locals wouldn’t do. Love, your friends in New York City.

I always wear a sidebag everytime I go out, and I *always* put my arm slightly holding the bag. Also an advantage for people that wear tight jeans, you can literally put money or credit card to your pocket. It's harder for people to pickpocket you for sure.

I often been in this situation and at times it was pretty girls following me in the hope of me talking to them, so when i stop and turn around they are so happy, only to turn away when they realise i turned to talk to my GF or wife or daughter who were right behind the girls stalking me. Once it got too funny when the one girl panicked and grabbed her two friends in such a way that all 3 of them tumbled over. Still flattering though, all pretty and only 20-22 years old.

That's very smart, I usually keep my money, passport and valuables tucked inside a pocket that's inside my jacket zipped up and near my chest. The bag I carry outside always has a credit card and some spare money but wouldn't really be a concern if I lose it.
I do that all the time because there are thieves at my workplace. I have a big decoy Michael Kors wallet with nothing some colombian pesos and a couple of those refillable "credit cards" you get at the airport. My real money, cards and ID are stashed away inconspicuously.

My mom’s phone just got pickpocketed in Paris Metro. We’re just here for a month to do a medical test and decided to tour around Europe. Unfortunately, since it’s already happened, we don’t feel like going anywhere apart from staying in my uncle’s house. (and now we’re so mad)
After, I’ll reconsider whether I should stay in Europe or move to Australia in the near future.
P.S: In term of security and peace, Australia is far better than most European countries. Even Australia is more socializing than here in Paris (Too egoistic) and more..
