About 15 years ago I arrived in the Philippines to begin a 9-year stint living abroad. I spent the first several years living in Makati, and my favorite place to go was Greenbelt indoor/outdoor retail entertainment center. At the time, Cafe Havana had indoor/outdoor dining, an outdoor hookah lounge, and live band entertainment. It was quite the scene, especially with all the ladyboys preying on the old unsuspecting foreign men that were fresh off the boat who had no idea the "chicks" that were hitting on them has d***s, hahaha. And yes, there are quite a few uber-rich folks in Makati and the surrounding neighborhoods (Fort Bonifacio/Global City, Ayala Alabang, etc.). My first date with my wife was over 14 years ago at Greenbelt. Now we are back in the USA working our asses off, dreaming of retirement in a tropical country someday.
metro manila is very well developed city, great aesthetics, smooth pavements with underground and elevated walkways with escalators up and down to speed up mobility. better than most major cities in the world

A lot of tourists just skip Metro Manila and go straight to the provinces, so most of them are surprised what Metro Manila has to offer. Most foreigners depict the Philippines full of slum areas. There are yes, but if u go around, you will be surprised with beautiful houses, condos and stuffs.
well it's actually the Yellow Media like ABSCBN , CNN, Rappler who spread news about the poverty of the Philippines to the whole world. Then the gullible westerners think that the Phils is really damn poor so they send out donations etc to these media outfits but none of their donations really get to the poor 100%. Its 50% to their own pockets! Thats why these yellow media give a bad impression about the Phils to the whole world where in fact the Phil is a rich country pretending to be poor nation. Manila is a rich city, media only focuses the slum areas as part of their donation campaign..

Makati City had been my home for 3 years before migrating to Canada. A walking distant or a jeepney ride to Ayala Ave or Makati Ave. I have great and fun memories while living in the city. With many changes that happened I don't miss Makati much, nothing is holding me back there. My favorite party place closed it's doors as well as the Precious Moments store near the Pasay border and the condo unit that I used to live was rented and I miss night swimming in that place.
Makati can improve further. More greenery, bike lanes, elevated/underground walkways, proposed subway. Green bldgs and public transpo. Housing for its informal settlers, underground cables etc
Not to burst your bubble but we do have greenery , Ayala Triangle Garden, Makati Park, Circuit Makati, Washington Sycip Park, Legazpi Park, etc. We also have many elevated and underground and modern looking walkways. We have green buildings and transpo too, ever heard of the E-Jeepneys and those P2P Buses? We have public housing, the Makati Public Housing have been around for decades. We also have better healthcare and education wise Makati provides many free supplies. Citizen wise we also have many perks especially for the elderly. Not all cities have those benefits even if BGC have the most gorgeous architecture.

No more legendary cafe havana in G. Belt
metro manila is very well developed city, great aesthetics, smooth pavements with underground and elevated walkways with escalators up and down to speed up mobility.
better than most major cities in the world
Thank you for loving my country Philippines🇵🇭…proud to be Filipino Mabuhay🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

Thanks, everyone for your appreciation of what you had experienced when you were here in our country. I hope you enjoyed it. Filipinos are very approachable, loving, and kind.
Manila is an amazing metropolis in the Philippines!
Mayor Isko did a marvelous job of making Manila a beautiful city. Amazing. Hope to be there soon.
@@golfgunsandcocktailschannelMetro Manila is a cluster of 17 cities all in all. Manila city, the oldest is where mayor Isko reigns. Makati city is the business capital of Metro Manila or the National Capital Region (1 of the 17 cities) is where these vloggers are atm.
The intro and the first minute are mostly Ayala Boulevard/Green-something cannot remember-food/restaurants, even if you live in MNL probably no need to go Ayala BLD.

Best comment! 😁

PHILIPPINES VERY RICH COUNTRY.LOVE YOU PHILIPPINES.💝👌THANK YOU SIR/MA'AM
Thanks for sharing your brief walking tour of Makati. Its tuely an a amazing transformation of a country I left 50 years ago. It gave a me a nostalgic feelings of the past and an appreciation of the present. Thank you both.🤗
I’m Filipino outside my country and my day is not complete if I don’t watch JUMPING PLACES Vlog... we love you guys..!
That is in Ayala, Makati City. One of PH's Central Business District. I know cause I've studied there in Ayala, Makati City for 4 years in college. My University is near Makati Medical Center and a few kilometers away from Landmark, Glorietta, Greenbelt and SM Makati. Ayala is actually a Privately owned land. Owned by Filipino-Spanish Billionaire Businessman Mr.Jaime Zobel De Ayala. He makes very luxurious lands in the country including BGC.
What's name of the University?
thanks for this vlog... many overseas Filipino workers like me would love to see most of your vlogs, it feels like you bring us back home in minutes...
This video has changed my perception of Manila. This place looks incredible
Thank you mate. i don't know why western media typically depicts Metro Manila as this sort of slum, but it's not. It even ruined our tourism
BGC alone is highly sophisticated and advanced than western cities
I feel sad you guys are leaving the Philippines. I love watching your Philippine vlogs regularly. But it’s different if you’re in another country 😔
I used to live and work in Makati. But, I’ve been living in Canada for 28 years now. I discovered your blog and watched this video. I now miss home! Thank you for giving this mini tour of Makati. I am now a subscriber. Take care, you guys!
Beautiful houses? Where?
@@reginaldhouse7731 Obviously you're from a remote province in the Philippines. LOL. The most prominent subdivisions and villages which have the biggest and most beautiful houses are in Metro Manila.
@@jakinatividad9726 Again...Where? Where in Metro Manila are the beautiful houses that aren't in private gated communities?
@@reginaldhouse7731
For one the vast New Manila area whichi sn't gated have the most beautiful gargantuan ancestral houses that you haven't even heard of because apparently you're not from Metro Manila. Probinsyanong dugyot!!! LOL
Those face shields have 2 protective plastic sheets you have to remove before use. Seems you guys only removed one so its kinda cloudy. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
Thank you both for visiting our country Philippines. You are always welcome to visit our country. God bless u both.
Hi from Windsor Uk, so strange to see you both in such a built-up area, *Great vlog, good vibes,* thank you for sharing
Your videos and commentaries are always honest and insightful. I can easily learn a lot about the culture and society from your videos. Compared to other vloggers, your commentaries have more substance. More National Geographic or CNN kind of substance.
Thank you for visiting the PH, and embracing the country, culture, and its people-with all its beauty and flaws. Will be watching and supporting your new adventures wherever it may be.
I'm already feeling sad, watching your vlogs sort of put me in a comfort zone during this pandemic. Moving forward I wish you all the best in your future.travels. The world is a better place because of people like yourselves.
We’ve been stuck overseas for months due to the pandemic. Makati is my hometown. Glad to have seen all these. Thanks guys!
I used to walk these streets every single day! I worked and lived there. I just clicked on this video because I missed the place. I didn't used to think it was this beautiful. Thanks for sharing ❤
Makati is the business district hence the tall buildings but there are also other cities in Manila that are fast developing where you can also see great structures. BGC, Quezon City, Manila and even the neighboring towns also boasts of great things to see. You should’ve explored more the Phils now that travel and tourism has opened up a bit! There are surely be great contents for your subscribers to watch! Well, at least you have something to look forward to on your next visit!
And Alabang too
Old haunts, that was Sunday morning traffic! Usually walking is faster anywhere in Makati/ Manila. Good to see my friends (staff) at the Bean!
Welcome to my great country. In past our loving country accept heartilly people who was driven away from other country because of their belief we Filipino welcomed then with all our heart to those who snub our country you too are welcome when the days come that you will be driven away you are wilcome to stay in my beloved Philippines. Thanks everyone . Whoever you are. ALHAMDULILLAH.
love this vlog. You can see progress even amidst poverty and chaos. Love the diversity of the Philippines. Thanks for sharing.
*_Carol walks around Makati like a supermodel.. so perfect._* 😘😘😘
@@georgiebennett3336
Not enough. With the kind of budget makati is getting, you guys should at least be in the level of HK or singapore on a per square kilometer basis. Ang makati public housing (FM project, not makati/local), indigent people ba pinatira jan or people close to city hall? Also ilan units/clusters lang ba yan compared sa dami ng indigents/IS elsewhere like the 'embo' bgys or those near old sta ana racetrack (circuit makati). Ang e-vehicles nyo, ilan porsiyento compared to total public transpo?
The elevated walkways sana ituloy til makati med, at lagyan ng buendia counterpart as originally planned. Also air quality in makati is not as good compared to other parts of ncr/phl
Bottomline, remove ayala cbd in makati and it is just any other city in the country, or worse

BGC: Hold my beer 🍻😄
??? HAHAHAAHAH lolzzz
Nice tour and vlog. have a safe tour in my country, the Philippines.
Makati City is still better tho... bgc is all about fancy buildings but the transportation system sucks. Just mu opinion tho.
Makati has the most expensive properties and all the riches people live there.
I heard bgc was made because they can no longer raise buildings in Makati cbd. And owners/property dev of makati are the ones who purchased it and created a new financial/lifestyle district closer to makati cbd. While bgc is nice I still prefer the vibe in makati.
yes Philippines is beautiful! and I am proud to be a filipino. Thanks for sharing one of our place in Makati.
Perfect road, perfect buildings, & perfect cleanliness. Wowwwww
Incomparable night life too.
Bonifacio Global City in Taguig (Metro Manila) is actually surpassing Makati when it comes to modern buildings and financial district (In my openion). You may want to visit the place as well. 😉

I don’t really understand why people say it looks like a different country. What did they expect Manila to look like? Is this city only tolerable if it looks like another country?
Because you lived in Manila City Isko while this guy filming in Makati City.
