A lovely relaxed video for my quiet afternoon caring for the foster doggy. Really useful too as I always like to see someone cut lavender rather than just telling me how to do it. Visual learner. You look like you loved every minute of that x
Loved the “shorts” you’re adding in. It takes only moments, it seems, for Mother Nature to reclaim her space. After listening to your lavender instructions, I now understand why I’ve been an utter failure at growing it (clay soil, always amending!). I’ll try one more time! Oh you must swish down the street at least once. It would brighten some urban lives for sure.
Hahaha....I do love to swish! Fingers crossed next time you plant lavender.....give them plenty of grit for drainage.....I also never watered mine.....they seem to thrive on neglect (apart from good pruning). 😉
Just picked some of my lavender this morning for a friend who is having trouble sleeping . I love it, I’ve had lavender in every garden I’ve had. And it was busy with bees. It’s now raining up here in the East Neuk of Fife so I’m glad I got that done this morning 😍
I dried my lavender last year in a paper primark bag. After a week I placed another of the brown bags loosely opposite way into first bag and the lavender dried lovely in spare bedroom. It even kept the moths away lol. So if u have primark bags they are perfect for lavender, the big bags.
I am surprised your beautiful plot wasn’t snapped up by a lucky person, but so pleased for you that you are able to enjoy this extra time there without the responsibility of maintaining it Vivi. Lovely to be able to catch up with your friends there too xx
I'm so sad it wasn't relet straight away........unfortunately the council department responsible for allocating plots is swamped with only one person left there to do the job for the entire Borough so plots are staying empty for months on end..... 😓
What a beautiful, iconic picture of you holding your lavender harvest. Such a lovely video, getting to see the garden and Gary's. What's funny is that I've been trying to get rid of my morning glories for years. It's so invasive in my yard. It's beautiful but it strangles my trees and such and I'm highly allergic to it. Vivi, I don't remember if you've mentioned in your videos or not, if you ship to the US? I could've missed it on your site but if you could let me know?
Such gorgeous flowers, but, yes, related to bindweed so plant with caution! Yes, I do ship to the States but it is eye-wateringly expensive (sadly, nothing I can do anything about).
@@WhatVivididnextoh, wonderful! I know, it's crazy expensive. I use to ship to Europe and Singapore when I sold jewelry on my other channel. Ok, I just wanted to know in case I'm able to afford it. Thank you!!!
Oh Vivi, it is so nice to see you in the garden again! I would like to know what variety of Lavender you of Gary have. If I remembered it correctly, I think you planted English Lavender?
So lovely to see you back with the lavender Vivi! My nostrils picked up the fragrance (in my mind). Thank you for the tips on how to grow - will try next time around. Great to see you looking so well. Happy days.💚
Vivi I followed your lead and planted munstead lavender as a border hedge along the stone walkway in my front garden. Love them….oh and you will be pleased to hear that my tomato plants are now eight feet tall and I can’t keep up with the harvest! Glad you will have some outside time with friends at the allotment. 🌟❤️
Hiya Vivi, ooh you know love a lavender visit, will need to light a scent candle on my end to get full effect lol. Thankyou, blessings luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
It's so nice to see you back at the allotment with your hands in the lavender, Vivi. All my lavender plants died over the winter (along with a good number of my roses) and I was so discouraged that I didn't replace any of them. I remember years ago when you planted the lavender, how did time pass that fast? Thankfully the person who helped themselves to your tree lilies didn't also harvest the lavender too. Green beans are finally coming along and every day one or two Gardener's Delight toms. Only one plant so no preserving plans, just enjoyment. Be well and keep enjoying that harvest.
Beautiful lavender! I would love to grow some but my acid soil isn't the best for it, plus we get way too much rain down here. When I was a youngster and lived in Surrey, we had quite sandy soil and our neighbour had a whole hedge of it!! I still remember the gorgeous smell!!
Lovely to see you in the allotment again Vivi, it will still always be a productive and social place for you! Thanks for tips on harvesting lavender, just put in some new plants this year. And got some ideas for a cold frame, Gary has some good crops growing there. The crimson flowered plant is a broad bean “crimson flowered”, I get a good crop from it every year with some pretty flowers as a bonus. Beautiful dress by the way! xxx
Ooooooo!!!!! I once had a mini schnauzer, called Fritz!!! His sweet little life blessed us for 19 years. Back to earth , Marilyn - good morning , Vivi! the lavender is gorgeous ! How fragrant ! Beautiful MG plants ! My grandma kept them . Gary has a wonderful crop of everything. What a sweet story of the little boy . I’m sure you made his morning . Good to see you outdoors,Vivi , in your element ! Wow, the basket of lavender is lovely. ❤ aww - bless your sweet heart , Vivi . Love , Marilyn x
When you finally move, your spirit will be wandering back like the ghost of Gertrude Jeykll.... wandering through your old plot, keeping a close eye on things....
Looks like Grampa Otts morning glory. Planted them in my backyard when I first moved into my house, now they come up on their own everywhere. Beautiful!
If you run out of space to dry the lavender in your flat, could you hang the surplus on the bannister of your part of the stairwell? Pity you haven’t got a Sheila Maid hanging from that ceiling.
Loved this video and your adulterous lavender ways 😉 Your dress is beautiful Vivi, you look so lovely and summery 🥰 Please could you tell us the make? xx
Hahahaha. The dress was a bargain.....it's from Bon Prix (Freemans catalogue or on-line).......I think it looks (and feels) way more expensive than it was. 😊
Dear Vivi, can't you also sell your beautiful dresses in your shop? Or don't you make them yourself? I have been looking for a while to expand my wardrobe with wonderfully fitting long dresses. Maybe an idea as an extra income? I'm a fan and will definitely purchase one or more. The dress you are wearing now looks fantastic on you hihi, but I think it's better on me, no, just kidding, I think it's very nice that I'm getting greedy 😁😘
@@WhatVivididnext It is a very beautiful dress. I am now constantly freezing the image and making a sketch of the dress here on the couch. I still have a very nice piece of linen fabric lying around and I think I'm going to dig out my sewing machine from deep inside the cupboard. Hihi, I was very lazy and thought if you could do it :-) but this gives me a little kick in the butt to try it myself. (Dutch saying if you are lazy.... Schop onder je kont.)
@@nickybookz222 Yay, go for it lovely! I have had the same thought......I really love the dress so why not try to replicate it when I have time......and perhaps in a baby/needle cord for winter.,...
Just a question, do you need to leave such log stems on the lavender. I thought that maybe you cut the stems shorter so that they would be less weighty for you to carry. I do not know anything about drying lavender, so this may not be possible?
Vivi is a giver not a taker, as you'll know if you've watched any of her vlogs. Any harvesting will be above board and, of course, minimise crops going to waste, which is totally in the spirit of how Vivi lives.

What variety* is the lavender?
Cheers,
Upstate NY
*yours and Gary's
It's 'Munstead' an English variety that can withstand both hot summers (and drought) and a light frosting in winter.
