At the end of the play, Montague tells the prince,Alas, my liege, my wife is dead to-night; Grief of my son's exile hath stopp'd her breath: What further woe conspires against mine age? Romeo's mother apparently died because of the stress of her son's exile.
As an English teacher, I have taught students about Romeo and Juliet for many years. I also have read the play many times, have read commentaries, and have even visited Italy to learn more from tour guides and historians. I continue to read more about this play, and I help other teachers.
I am so sorry that I did not reply to your question. I just saw it. I didn't realize my notifications weren't working. Balthasar says that he dreamed that Romeo had killed someone. In fact, Romeo truly had killed Paris. Balthasar had planned to spy on Romeo; it is unclear if he really fell asleep or if he just says that because he does not want to be blamed for not trying to stop the fight. I'm curious--what did your teacher say?
+Batool Alansari You are correct. Since my videos are summaries, I do not put in every word of the original text. The ellipsis (...) shows readers that words were left out.
+Ricardo De Jesus Franco Morales In Act 3, Scene 1, Romeo says, "O sweet Juliet, / Thy beauty hath made me effeminate / And in my temper soften'd valour's steel!" (3.1.113-115). Romeo is saying that Juliet made him love her, and that love made him weak and less brave. Romeo did not want to fight Tybalt because he was Juliet's cousin, so Mercutio fought Tybalt for Romeo and got killed. Romeo thinks his love for Juliet got Mercutio killed because normally Romeo would have fought Tybalt and Mercutio would have lived.
