Good video Fred.For first timers it can be hard to talk the talk. I'm very surprised that you didn't mention that when the skips running it doesn't matter how good your antenna is or how much power you're pushing.Its all about being in the right place at the right time. I've spoken to Roy on a 3 ft firestick from a supermarket car park..lol
Good video Fred, just shows how making DX calls, and getting replies can be. Just waiting to get my aerials up and hopefully on the air again soon, problem is I'm more of an experimenter in radio stuff than using it to make contacts, 73 :)
Thanks Fred, I have a 1/2 wave 'silver rod' waiting to go up on a 7m mast, hidden in a tree from the XYL :) and I'm toying with some home-brew and cheap as chips inverted v dipoles strung from a tree to hopefully give me a couple and aerials to choose to pick up a signal :)
Fred what 3 CB RADIOS would you consider the best all round ones to own.....It does get confusing because there are so many on the market...Keep up the good work ............
Wow the choice. Depends on your budget. I would say if you can always start with a SSB radio. First choice would be the CRT 6900N as its hard to beat on value and sounds and receives really good once you swap out the standard mic. Moving up budget both the CRT9900 and The Grant 2 are fine radios. The 9900 is very powerful but prob harder to use than the Grant 2 Once your over £200 there is a fair bit of choice. Bottom end less than £50 i would say the CRT One is hard to beat.

I made a video about getting a CT callsign a few weeks back. The video is on the channel. You can google amatuer radio rules but the best method is to sit back and listen and learn. The lingo comes with a little practice.
Nemesis Now I'm very familiar with q codes 10 codes ect just for others how are just starting out may not know the how and why for useing codes most "staring out" videos (and im not falting fred here) are to quick to jump straight past the basics.
CQ DX means calling for a contact ,QSY means change frequency. CT is a call sign. so hello CQ CQ CQDX this is 26tm062 calling CQ and standing by on 27.385 please QSY to 27.385. then change frequency and say 26tm062 (call sign) calling CQ and standing by

Yes it does help getting out. However not type approved in the UK.

Radio is CRT SS6900N. Yes if bought in the UK it comes programmed with the 40 FM channels

Yes if you want to use it on the 10 meter band. No if you use it as a CB but Its not approved for any CB work.
