Sonic the Hedgehog[a] is a video game series and media franchise created by the Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for Sega. Sega Technical Institute developed the next three Sonic games, plus the spin-off Sonic Spinball (1993). While Sonic games often have unique game mechanics and stories, they feature recurring elements such as the ring-based health system, level locales, and fast-paced gameplay. Games typically feature Sonic setting out to stop Eggman's schemes for world domination, and the player navigates levels that include springs, slopes, bottomless pits, and vertical loops. Later games added a large cast of characters; some, such as Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, and Shadow the Hedgehog, have starred in spin-offs. The franchise has crossed over with other video game franchises in games such as Mario & Sonic, Sega All-Stars, and Super Smash Bros.
Sonic the Hedgehog is Sega's flagship franchise and one of the bestselling video game franchises, selling over 140 million units by 2016 and grossing over $5 billion as of 2014. Series sales and free-to-play mobile game downloads totaled 1.6 billion as of 2023. The Genesis Sonic games have been described as representative of the culture of the 1990s and listed among the greatest of all time. Although later games, notably the 2006 game, received poorer reviews, Sonic is influential in the video game industry and is frequently referenced in popular culture. The franchise is known for its fandom that produces unofficial media, such as fan art and fangames.

Above all Sonic 3 needs to understand why Shadow works as a character, i think he is the reason why Adventure 2 is so good so if they get his story arc wrong everything falls apart
Im really worried they make him the stupid edge lord he became over the years but since thats one thing the producers did right since day one i think it'll be fine

I really want to see Rouge, she debut with Shadow and has been his closest allie in the games. She was the first person to force Shadow to show the good inside him, when he saved her. Rouge's story is also simple enough to introduce that she wouldn't take much time away from Shadow's own.
And if they want to give Shadow his own spin off in the future (like Knuckles) it would be better to start building thier friendship before hand.
Giving Knuckles a rival to fight while Sonic is dealing with Shadow is also a bonus.
Escape From The City would already get me going nuts enough but if Live And Learn plays in this movie, I am going to go insane and die of happiness once it ends
So real. I would have lived a full life, having heard that song in the movie
I would cream my pants if I hear Live and Learn start playing.
I'm mainly interested in seeing what they do differently with Shadow's story. Not necessarily a new origin completely by getting rid of Maria or something, but what they do to make him stand apart from his game counterpart, much like how Movie Sonic stands apart from Game Sonic.
The difference between Sonic and Shadow is that Sonic doesn't have a predefined backstory, or at least he doesn't have a drama behind it, Shadow has a whole backstory that moves the plot of SA2, I hope it's not too different, it's perfect the way it is. It is.
If they include City Escape into this movie (which I really hope they do), then they should adapt the chase sequence from the beginning of the game, and then when Sonic is falling down through the sky from the helicopter he says some kind of snarky line, puts in his air pods, and selects City Escape from his playlist. Then the song can be playing in the background while Sonic is streetboarding down San Francisco trying to outrun that gosh darn troll truck, and looking sick as heck while doing it.
I like this idea, some guardians of the galaxy stuff (Ik they weren’t the first to do it) the music the character listens to is the song for the scene 🔥🔥

1. Similar plot beats to SA2, at least the major ones
2. No downplaying Shadow's origin story and the tragedy that befell ARK and the Robotnik family. Genuinely showcase the terror and emotion behind the events, similarly to Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 and Sonic X
3. No unnecessary bloat characters. If you can't find a way to naturally and meaningfully implement characters such as Rouge, Amy, Metal etc might as well not do it at all, at least not yet
4. Give Shadow guns (was never cringy or edgy, he's literally a military creation trained by them, it was and always will be cool AF)
4. Tease an 06 adaptation in the end. Have Silver appear, looking at the Wachowski family from afar, clench his fist and say "I finally found him. The Iblis Trigger." and end the movie there
If we get these 5 things it will be borderline perfect for me.
speaking of Silver... How in the hell would he work for a 4th movie in this franchise? would it be taken from Sonic '06? Sonic Rush maybe? *SONIC freaking RIVALS?*

@@christscrackers647 I think you should revisit 06 with a neutral open-minded approach, you'll find yourself liking or loving it. Every fan that got into Sonic in the last 5 years that I've met and played the games in order without any personal biases values 06 greatly and think it's one of the best Sonic games, and I've met hundreds at this point.
Give 06 the flowers it always deserved.

Hey speaking of Megamind, I actually rewatched the entire movie so that I can forget the "Sequel and TV Series" they announced for Peacock...
But the first live-action Sonic movie already started just like "Megamind" with that whole, "You're probably wondering how I got here..."
Sonic movie 3 also need to surpass Mufasa: The Lion King as another movie about Royal family, which’s prince is their last hope in theatres December 20th 2024
Whats wrong with people thinking humans can replace amy or rouge even? Just because they did it in Sonic x doesn't mean is good, heck Chris was horrible because he stole many scenes from actual characters. Do our girls a little justice.
Incase you didn't already know, the reason why it has been said that Live and learn WILL be in Sonic 3 is because after getting emailed about it, the Crush 40 lead singer (Johnny Gioeli) confirmed that the rights to that iconic song were given to Paramount and that it's strictly up to that studio to decide how it will be used in that movie. I hope that Rouge and Amy get put in, and that more action scenes get included along with the Sonic characters going to the Space colony ARK + showing Super Sonic and Super Shadow battling a major threat after Shadow remembers that revenge isn't what Maria wanted him to do. They'd better also adapt in that jungle area "Faker" cutscene, "I found you, faker!" with Shadow next mocking Sonic for saying that. It was hilariously entertaining in SA2. I very strongly hope for Shadow to NOT be shown using guns in Sonic 3!!! That would make him be shown more like the edgeloard character that many fans (including me) don't want him to continue to be shown as, and his own Chaos abilities are a lot more interesting than him doing bullet shooting would ever be! May the G.U.N. military agents be who will use loaded guns in that movie!
Very heavy on the "Don't have Shadow use a gun" part. The Shadow's backstory fanmade short film handles this perfectly. It acts as a bit of a simultaneous "Shadow is just fine the way he is" message, along with the, yes very obvious PSA-commercial-sorta-thing moment but still VERY necessary anti-gun violence message.
Especially considering the rate of mass shootings in the U.S.; hell, I remember even six years ago, when I was 18, there was a time in which I was hearing about so many different mass shootings happening around the same general time that I couldn't even keep track of them anymore, which I've heard a lot more people experiencing in more recent years.
At the end of the day, kids are still going to be a major target demographic of this movie, so its honestly a good idea to have that message in there; gun violence & police (or, well, in this case, military) brutality is literally a huge part of Shadow's backstory (Maria & how she sacrificed herself to save Shadow; once again, handled perfectly in the Shadow fan-film). So if they're planning on making the story more like Sonic Adventure 2, this would be the perfect opportunity to have a scene similar to when Maria pleads with Shadow to not use a gun, just like in the Shadow fan-film.
I'm very impressed with the quality of that Project Shadow fanmade film. I've watched it more times than once because of how good it is, and in my opinion it's the best fanmade film I've ever seen so far! I agree that if they are planning to make this movie be more like Sonic Adventure 2, that this would be a perfect opportunity to have a similar scene in it that would be similar to the scene when Maria pleads Shadow to not use that gun that he had grabbed from that G.U.N. agent.
i liked the random humor in sonic 2 though
the creepy lady knitting a skull, the talking fish head, eggman being rabid, the stairs joke, its all genuinely funny and a step above sonic 1's humor which did have some good jokes but it all felt like typical kid movie jokes
id argue sonic 2's humor as a whole was witty and honestly felt like lego movie humor at times, which is exactly that, as josh whittington co-wrote the sequel and will co-write sonic 3, and he wrote for the lego batman movie, which was exactly just as random and witty
i dont mind tom's opinion but to say the first half wasnt funny at times kind of just feels subjective
Probably in Sonic movie 3 they introduce Amy Rose Rouge the bat cameo and Big the cat along with Silver and Blaze the cat for the cliffhanger for Sonic movie 3 and a Shadow the hedgehog show where the choatix appears in along with Rouge the bat

Unironically my biggest want is to have Big cameos in the movie. Like the games, Big would be somewhere in the background of every set piece or location fishing or doing something unrelated to the story with no explanation as to how he got there in the first place.
Probably won't happen since Big is irrelevant to SA2's story outside of the cameos, but it would be fun to re-watch the movie again and suddenly you start noticing there's a fat purple cat that occasionally shows up in the background now and then everywhere in the movie.
Well, he was originally planned to appear in the 2nd movie, back when the tavern scene was initially set in an alien cantina ala “Star Wars”, but was scrapped when they changed it to Siberia due to budget constraints.

@@deppo436 I can't recall where I picked up this info - it might've been from a tweet post from one of the creatives or something. But Big's planned appearance was only going to be a brief cameo.
I like that. Basically aStan Lee cameo for the Sonic Movie Universe. And I believe Bill Fagerbakke would be nice choice to voice Big.
9 things I hope will happen in the Sonic 3 movie:
1. The plot may be based on Sonic Adventure 1 & 2.
2. Either Metal Sonic or Chaos as the villian.
3. Tails' own development.
4. Amy and (possibly) Rogue's live action debut.
5. References to past Sonic media only fans will know.
6. Other well-known characters might make cameos (hopefully).
7. Hayden Christensen as Shadow.
8. Christopher Lloyd as Gerald Robotnik.
9. Will Jim Carrey's Robotnik finally say, "I hate that hedgehog!"
I don't like sand
I love all these. However, and this is just a personal thing, I would love to see Tom and Maddie Wachowski have prominent roles in the SA1&2 inspired story. They're a very likable and charming couple and I don't want to see them take a backseat again, I mean they are Team Sonic's surrogate parents after all. Give them a chance, I'd love to see them fight alongside their sons.
Also Christopher Lloyd is already apart of the movie franchise now. He's casted as Pachacamac in the Knuckles spin-off show. Sorry.
I want the initial confrontation with Shadow to show him beating up Knuckles the way Knuckles beat up Sonic in movie 2
In sonic 3, I just wanna see more action, like give me the same action that we had with sonic vs knuckles sonic 2, and also the team up with knuckles, tails, sonic, I wanna see that more, and also I don't wanna see movie sonic completely turn into game sonic, I want to keep some of movie sonic personality traits and stuff,

1. The human parts were honestly fine. In fact ,in Sonic 2 the section in Hawaii was the funniest section for me tbh. I do agree tho that the humans need to feel more organic to the story
2. While I definetly don't think they should go full "Shadow uses guns and rides a motorcycle" , they 100% should have the 3rd movie be significantly darker and put the kiddie comedy on ice for a bit. Shadow's story is one of the darkest as far as the games are concerned and it deserves that respect.
3. Rouge and Amy will more than likely be in the movie. Both because they were important in SA2, but also because there's been a noticeable push to evolve their characters beyond the stereotypes they've stuck as for a LONG time.
4. There 100% needs to be more game references and music. Not expecting an excessive amount, but more would be nice.
There's already enough game references in the two movies.
I disagree on Shadow not riding a motorcycle, we saw Sonic, Tails and Knuckles driving or riding vehicles in the movies, so why not Shadow? Maybe we'll see a scene of him in his iconic motorcycle.
But the guns it's obvious he isn't going to use them, I want the 3rd movie to be dark, just not that dark... They can put a "reference" seeing a GUN Soldier shoot at him and he saying: "Weak and stupid human, even using a gun. I don't need them".
I personally really like Tom and Maddie. Instead of taking a backseat like last time, they should have prominent roles in the third movie.

I am making a bet now similar to adventure two shadow will probably frame sonic for a crime and sonic will be on the run from the gun organization at the end of the movie. Sonic‘s name doesn’t get cleared and he has the leave earth in a bitter sweet no way home kind of ending.
I genuinely wonder how Sonic 3 will even handle and juggle Amy, Rouge *and* Shadow in one film despite all of them playing a role in SA2's story. Let alone if Amy and/or Rouge will be in it at all.
But regardless, the hype for Sonic Movie 3 is *on!*

Since the third movie is taking plot elements from SA2 and Shadow 05 from both games, I want to see the Space Colony ARK, not just for Shadow's backstory, but when Team Sonic, Eggman, Agent Stone, Shadow, and Rouge (if she appears), to get on board it as well.
And Amy! We cant forget about Amy!

Here is a theory I heard about Sonic 3. What if the person that shot Maria was a Wachowski meaning Tom’s grandfather was responsible for Maria’s death.
If that actually happens, That would mean Sonic and his friends have to protect Tom from Shadow the Hedgehog by any means
What I hope too see in Sonic the Hedgehog 3:
- Sonic and Shadow having a big racing duel too the finish with a huge lead up like in SA2
- Rouge, she’s pivotal too Shadow’s storyline and would be a great foil to Knuckles,
- Maria Robotnik actually getting shot and the movie NOT censoring it for “kids”
- Live & Learn actually playing during the final battle, whatever it might be
- An expansion of G.U.N’s role in the SCU (Sonic Cinematic Universe)
- Sonic and friends going to SPACE. FUCK. YES!!!
- Sonic receiving some form of independence from Tom & Maddie
- Less of Rachel in the next film; as much as I love Maddie and Tom, I don’t think Rachel would be necessary for the next movie. She’s kind of a pain in the ass for Tom to deal with
- Tails Vs Eggman!!! Forget Sonic’s battle with Eggman, Shadow’s going to be his enemy next. Put these two geniuses up against each other in the next movie please!

Dawg, general advice, instead of making 6 separate comments, try to pack everything you want to say into one single comment instead. If you post comments while watching the video, try and edit your single comment over and over, instead of making a new comment every time. Because all of these posts you have are kinda flooding this comments section.
Random guys like me and even Pup are scrolling through and reading comments, so seeing your posts over and over are kind of overshadowing the opinions and feedback from other people. It makes reading this comments section a little boring. And, once other people notice that you have too many comments, most of them will actually _skip_ past yours subconsciously
Honestly it would be better if they ended the live action universe with the 3rd movie and then make movies connected to the games, with the marza animation. Nothing against the live action movies I enjoy them but it limits the storytelling potential imo
Movies connected to the games would be far more limited by virtue of both needing to take into account what the other does.

I wouldn’t be surprised if rouge’s role was totally replaced by a human
my problem with amy is that how are they going to introduce amy into the movie. They already a bunch of characters to work with Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow And possibly Rouge. i just want to find out how they are going to bring amy in.
Sadly, I think its highly likely that one of the human characters takes Amy's role in the story (my money's on Jojo, Rachel's (Maddie's sister) daughter).
ABSOLUTELY NOT! IM NOT ALLOWING JOJO OR ANYONE, ESPECIALLY JOJO TO REPLACE AMY!
Highly unlikely as Jojo has never been established as a super important character in these movies, she has very little screentime in both of them, even if Amy isn't one who redeems Shadow (I struggle to think who would be better suited for this role), there's little to zero chance of Jojo doing it. Pulling another Chris Thorndyke despite it being shat on for years would be an awful idea and I genuinely hope the movie writers realize that.

I really want to see Shadow getting defeated by Sonic In " The Final Rush" just showing that Sonic is HIM like in the Games. Because in Adventure 2 Shadow was more described as a fraud. Not that he was weak but I dont like how Ppl downplay Sonic even tho he has beaten him

While I do think it is important for Amy to be part of this movie, given what they will be adapting, I think they'll probably just introduce Rouge and bring Amy in later. Heck, slowly building up more and more characters to a climatic final film would probably be my way of ending the movie series, maybe having Chaos be the big bad, or literally any of the highly threatening or destructive beings. Heck, there are a few ways to do the third movie since I don't think we are getting the biolizard, even if we want a close adaptation to SA2. Whatever they do, Shadow's story can't pull any punches, it needs to be dark as it was in the source material, and treated with as much respect as they should show this deeply misunderstood character. And of course, they have to do Shadow's character justice, he isn't some edgy version of Sonic, he is much more than that, a character with many layers and they have to get it right. Now that is all over, I can't wait for what they have in store for this movie, but remember to lower your expectations.

Technically they could have Jojo be the one to get through to Shadow since she's also a little human girl and she had a similar moment in the first movie with Sonic, but come on, Amy needs to be there. But please for the love of all that is holy do not make Sonic romantically involved with her. I don't give a damn what Ian or the annoying Twitter shippers think, Amy was literally created specifically to be rejected by Sonic and show that he's not interested in romance. They also need to make her powerless (as in she has no powers), and one cool thing they could do is have her already know Tails and that's why she's a Sonic fangirl.
Other things I want: They need to blow up a military base. I do not care if it is on a jungle island or not, I just want Shadow and Eggman to blow up a military base. They need to keep the final confrontation between Knuckles and Rouge. As long as they're on a beam somewhere high up, I don't care where it is. Also play a song similar to Fly in the Freedom during it because that scene is literally perfect with that song. They gotta keep the hallway scene with Sonic and Shadow where they slowly accelerate and end up racing, but change it to make it not one-to-one. If Rouge has been on Earth and working with the government since before the first movie, I think that would be pretty cool and add new context for the government's actions against Sonic. On the music side, word is Crush 40 is involved, but why stop there? Bring in Tony Harnell, Tabitha Fair, Marlon Saunders, Kaz Silver... Hell, let them compose new songs even. Don't be afraid to play vocal tracks over scenes, just mix it appropriately so you can hear the dialogue. Also, I want Tails to have the Cyclone and I want it to be constantly shifting between walker, plane, and car mode throughout the movie. And keep the City Escape truck scene. I'm fine with pop culture references as long as it's pop culture from the 80s and 90s.
