Pilot Robert, Captain Blaz’, You have unknowingly posted a very special video to me.... My father has been passed for 1 yr on the 2nd of May... This reminds me of my Line Control gas engine P51, he purchased for me when I was 7 or 8 yrs old... The very first introduction I had to fuel power airplanes... now I am 47 and this brought back the memory’s!!! I haven’t thought about it in years until today!!! I also got in trouble several times because the engine was one speed gasoline and not on the quiet side when started... Thank you for bringing back this happy memory!
I also had a P51, green in color, didn't last long as well. Put a tank on it just like that one. I also ending up putting it on a balsa wood plane. Good memories about, uh can't remember what year, maybe middle 70's.
I also had a line-controlled plane when I was a kid. I also had the dune buggy and the Funny Car & Dragster. The sound of that engine brings back many memories! I worked at the Cox factory for a short time back in 1977.
Capt Blaz … You did so much better than I when I tried to fly one of these little .049 planes. It took me a month to build it. I fired it up, tossed it, it rolled onto its back and destroyed itself on the ground. Total flight time … less than 2 seconds !! Congratulations !! … and best of luck.
I'm 63 and flew a lot of those. It's a cox golden B. Controlled by a needle valve. The golden B had a larger gas thank. Standard was silver about half size. Those engines came on alot of plastic RTF as well as Carl Sandberg balsa build to fly models. As well as other brands. This motor as well as so many others witch we flew control line was a very big part of my childhood. Back then there was no internet and the ability to share so many things with So Many great guys Like you two. Yet we still made Memories at the park. God bless you two for being Great representatives of the hobby we love and the Brotherhood that should be ALL OVER THE WORLD. Take care my friends and keep ZOOMING. Keith from Minnesota, USA
Also by the way, I flew real life airplanes also. First solo 1983 N6529M. First cross country 1983 ANE to Mankato airport 1983 N6529M! Same plane in my thumb
oh thank you very much for these very kid words...this means lot to us that we bring so much nice memories back into peoples lives...this is why we love to do this...cheers....
That was the first engine I ever flew a plane with. It’s just balls to wall and that’s it. You really have to be on your toes ever second. You did great Capt Blaz
Blaz, I got a U-control airplane just about that size for Christmas 1958. I don’t remember the brand, but it was made mostly of thin aluminum with a broad wing with plastic tailplane and elevators. It had a red and white checkerboard pattern and the same Cox .049 that you just flew. I never got to learn how to fly it but thanks to you and Robert I now know how that O Forty Nine would have sounded. Thank you both and wonderful flying job in that Slovenian breeze!
The Cox .049 was my first engine on a control line plastic PT-19 over 60 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. You guys are wonderful for promoting the hobby.
I don`t know what is more fun. Flying the planes or watching you two fly your planes.Maybe i`ll go fly my planes because i can`t sit here all day watching you two guys have all the fun aye. lol Salute from Texas. yeehaaa
You guys are amazing! My kids and I love watching you and can't wait to get our first RC plane in the mail. Your love of the hobby is contagious and we look forward to watching all your videos! We need more people like you 2 in this crazy world! Thank you for introducing us to this amazing hobby, your friends in Utah... eh!
That is great my friend. We really want to show how great this hobby is to the whole world and its such great feeling if someone buys his first plane becouse of our videos. Good luck on your maiden and have fun. Big salute from Slovenia.
Robert Petrinčič send me your email address and we can exchange our addresses. I’m retired military and would love to send you some goodies, hats, shirts, etc. we have watched a lot of your videos, but still many more to see! I’d love to hear from you both, and if you ever make it to the US, you will have a warm bed and good food! Keep making people smile!
Wow, cox engines.now u guys r taking me back.I had a little free flight with I think it was an .049.it had an eye dropper for a tank.it was a little bi-plane like this one.I terrorised the flying club with that thing.one day it flew away.3 months later we found it in the bush while trying to recover another crashed plane.unbelievable.see the memories u guys bring out in us.it's great.
20 + yrs ago i made a scratch air plane 36 in wingspan with the 049 black widow. I had the best times with plane. That 2nd run , while you was having a hard time starting it , that was the best time cause when it finally started it was pure joy. Great video i realy enjoyed it.👍
I started using a 2nd hand model of that engine in my 2nd plane back in 1968. I was 12 Was a great engine for free flight planes. The sound of that engine took me back to those far distant days immediately. Thanks for the memories
Brings back memories of my childhood when I had several planes with Cox .049 engines. Most of the times I crashed them, but that never stopped me from trying again. Laughed at the first launch Captain Blaz, but what a perfect recovery the second time. Bravo to you my friend!
Great flying by Captain Blaz! Those little cox engines are screamers its a whole new twist flying such a small glow plane. I love it. I built a guillows balsa and tissue p51d mustang and put a cox engine on it and was going to set it up for control line and never got it running or flew it so it was cool to see how it might have flew thank you guys another great video.
Well done Captain BLAZ ! That one was a hard one to keep on film Ahe Pilot Robert. Lol Fast little bugger. You guys Always bring a smile to my face. had a P51 COX control line plane when I was a kid , early 70s. And a COX VW BUG. BOTH with the.049 . Ha that sound. Takes me back to good times. Thanks Brothers ✌️
I used to fly models just like that small biplane on single channel radio control many years ago, even on rudder with no ailerons, you took me back in time to all of those years ago.
Love the sound of the Cox 049 but they were tough to start. I had my first 049 in a wire controlled P40 from Cox in 1973. Love the flight and the video!! Keep the passion.
Brings back very fond memories from my childhood. Had a white Cessna with Cox engine on control line. 2 minutes of pure bliss followed by a continuing spinning world. Greetings from SA.
I used to extend the Babe-Bee flight times by adding a small tank mounted higher up that "drains" into one of the Cox tanks nipples. The other nipple was closed off. I could fly for about 5 minutes if I set the needle valve just right. In SA too. I love Capt Blaz and his videos.
That's a speed demon of a plane ,no wonder you had to wear a crash helmet, how you manage to fly that is beyond me,all full throttle and WHAT THE HELL great flying Blaz, not many could get that in the air or even started ,required great skill all round, it's rare video you don't see much of that on UA-cam you showed years of experience surprised a few people with that one well done you big salute
Great job looks very hard to fly. I have had .049 many years ago great little engine. We lost it all when we moved from New York to Arizona when i was 15 years old.
Amazing ! I still have my .049 after fifty years of flying. I used it in a 2 metre glider instead of a catapult launcher. Nostalgia rings true. "Believe for sure" reminded me of my first engine bought for me by my dad, a Taipan 2.5 cc diesel. That is 60 years old now, and still runs. Funny thing is, the .049 still runs with the original glow head, too. Nice flying once again, Captain Blaž; fast and furious. Lucky Pilot Robert kept up with the speed. You both make a good team.
thanks...i have gloder 2m too i just need to make it fly again and i will do that very soon..it also has cox engine on top of wings....you will love it...
Great save Capt Blaz on the second flight!! That takes me back 50 years, I had many cox .049s and the 6x3 is the correct prop for it. I have gotten back into RCs with electrics, but still have have several .049s and a Pinto kit from the 60s that I will build now. Really love your videos.
The Cox .049 engine was a screamer on Nitro Fuel! I loved it when I was 8 year's old, and had a fair number of the Aircraft and the Dune Buggy. I had the P-51 Mustang, Red Baron and the JU-88 Stuka. I loved them all.
Two JU-88 Stukas, two dune buggies, one P-51, and I still have my Prop Rod, the #66 Chaparral and various engines from Fox, McCoy and others including a mint Sea Ray outboard motor.
That sound brings back some memories.Flew Cox PT-19 control line model in local school yard.back in 1960's.(I'm 67)Got the plane selling greeting cards.Had several other .049's after, but you always remember the first
I will have to give a BIG SALUTE TO YOU CAPT BLAZ. that was a beautiful save on your second flight. The barrel roll on take off was so spectacular. That thing is a little screamer. I have a 049 Cox engine now I feel like I should do something with it maybe I will have to build a little screamer like this one. Excellent job Flying that little bumble bee. I SALUTE YOU FROM SEDRO WOOLLEY WA 😎 ✌️
This is very special to me u have brought back memories of my father who passed away.my first aileron plane was a shoe string with a cox .051.I flew that plane til the fuel soaked through the balsa.and it's great u got a radio from Australia.we love you guys here.I own a spectrum but most of my stuff is hi-tech or JR 2.4gig radios.I inherited all my dads stuff.I have 3 helicopters I can't fly.I'm a plane man but dad loved his helicopters.I inherited all my dads planes and everything.I fly both gas and electric.but I'm a nitro man all the way.that's sick
This is so cool and a GREAT homage to rc back in the old days, NICE work Captain Blaz! Looked HARD to fly, so fast and tight, enjoyed the video guys! *salute from Durham NC*
Captain Blas, I found that a 5-1/4" 4 prop works vary well on small planes with Cox engines. The 4" pitch gives it good pull and the 5-1/4" diameter still allows the engine run at high RPM's where they are happiest. I have a Black Widow that I made a home made carburetor and engine mount for. It actually works. I still have to iron out couple bugs, but it revs up and throttles down. I have a lathe- mill combination so I can make things like that. I will send you a video of it running when it's finished. I have a bunch of old Cox engines from when I was a kid. A .09, .049's, a couple .020's, plus my favorite a .010 . Great video keep them coming. I can't wait till the next one.
+300!! What a save at second (successful) launch!! Now we know why Captain Blaž is still Captain - he refuses higher rank because he is afraid of being removed from flight line! And an absolute master of Cox engines - hats down!!
Takes me back! As a kid I got a "Breezy Jr" and Babcock radio control (both kits) for Christmas. The transmitter had a push button which each time you pushed it would operate a relay on the receiver. The relay operated an escapement (powered by a rubber band) which had 3 steps - 1= right rudder, 2= left rudder & 3 up elevator. The receiver took several batteries and the transmitter took a hi voltage dry cell. it operated on the citizen's band. We would fly at the Rose Bowl parking lot where they allowed model airplane flying at least up to the 60's (when nothing was scheduled at the bowl). Took off from the ground. Very stable - more like a free flight with minimal controls. You flew until it ran out of fuel, glide to a landing then do it again until the family got bored. Great times! Don't have the plane any more but still have the radio system.
You can fit them up with an exhaust throttle collar. Calms the noise down a bit and gives you modest throttle control. There is some performance loss with these though.
I have one of these Cox 0.49 Black Widow engines. I used it on control line and even on an airboat. I need to replace the starter spring. Great video. Cheers from Sydney Australia. Also I have a very good friend from Slovakia called Dusan.
Yes these Cox 0.049's were used for little c/l planes in Britain, way back.. The idea of using such a tiny motor on an RC plane was impossible then. Just goes to show how far this amazing hobby has come! Big salute as ever from London.
Brings back great memories. I loved the indoor pylon racing back in the 90's at the International Model Expo in London Olympia's smaller hall with Cox 020 powered bandits. Brilliant fun.
Great flying there Captain, VERY low at times.I have never seen anyone with the amount of models you fly.Its never boring plus you guys are excellent.my favourite channel
Nicely presented nitro fun Capt. Blaz! Especially Big Salute for flying this small bird in this crazy wind! We love the green hardhat and the "special" outfit too! :D You are the true Master of Nitro! Cheers, ,O7
Sehr cool, früher hatten die meisten Probleme den Zaunkönig überhaupt in die Luft zu bringen. Den Meisten ist das Ding bevor der Sprit lehr war abgestürzt, mein Respekt.
I grew up playing with these engines… Are used to have a lot of line control airplanes, as radio equipment was very expensive in the 80s. Man I really enjoyed hearing that sound! This is it! Awesome video guys, keep up the great work!
And that's! why I went to electrics years ago. Too many years of "FLUP," "FLUP", FLUP". But I still have a soft spot for those old Cox .049's. I swear they built about 5 Billion of them. When I was a kid back in the fifties every boy had at least one plastic Cox control line plane, which usually crashed on the first flight .🤦♂️🤣. It was the only flying model you could find. Once again you have brightened my day, and again, I salute you from Jackson Mississippi, USA
Run Forest run??? I crack myself up!!!!! That was so funny!!! I really enjoy your videos. !!!!! I think that this was the most difficult flying showing Captain's abilities!! It was close to disaster after the 2nd hand toss but he saved it !!!! Keep flying boys!!! Salute from Greece 🇬🇷🛫🇬🇷🛫 I ll go for a beer also.....
Looks like Capt Blasz could use some expo. When I flew 049 a kid and it didn't start after priming I would cover one gas filler tube with my finger and push gas through till it tricked out the bottom of the motor. This forced gas to flow better. Usually started after that. Love that sound of my childhood.
Hard to fly, YES! it survived 2 tankfuls so great job! My last .049 was in the early 90s, a semi scale Typhoon Motor Glider. I thought it was beautiful. The first flight it climbed above the trees and l made a left turn, perfect. Then a right turn for a figure 8. AAAHHHH!😲, the snap on plastic retainer for the rudder snapped off. I could still turn left but not right . . . Then the rudder horn came out and directional control was gone. I made a snap decision and tried to force a landing with the trusty .049 still screaming, overshot the tall grass and smacked into a freshly plowed field😢. The post crash sick feeling overwhelmed me. Do l still fly? Absolutely!😃
Nice job Blaz. I remember those old Cox engines when I was a kid. Can be a real knuckle buster if you get you hand in the way of that prop with that spring....lol
I had the same engine in a boat as a kid, and I don't remember it running so long on each tank. Cool to see one again! And the guy with the camera should narrate cartoons for Disney.
Ladies and Gentlemen Capitan Blaž and first and final officer Robert welcome you on board. Dinner will be served shortly followed by our famous in-flight entertainment! Sit back, relax and enjoy the flight. The turbulence we are experiencing is quite normal for this time of the year so Hey just stop screaming! Great video as usual!
Here in the US we get the 6 o'clock wind, it dies out usually to complete calm between 7-9pm summer. Early morning in winter, same hours, but going from dead calm to windy. Check your local conditions, it makes flying so much less expensive!!
Having seen that flight, I now see the wisdom of the hard hat... Capt. Blaz, my respect to you for keeping the little devil in the air. A piece of history presented in the best way! :D
I still have a few of those engines from my childhood. A few planes. But are control line, maybe I can convert them. I do have a couple with external fuel tanks to get longer flight. Was nice to hear the noise again.
Pilot Robert, Captain Blaz’, You have unknowingly posted a very special video to me.... My father has been passed for 1 yr on the 2nd of May... Sorry about your Father. I also had that Cox P51. Didn't last long tho. Good memories. I'm 59. Thanks buddy for sharing.
oh this is so nice.....nice to know that we did a good hing....hpe you enjoy it...
That has to be the quote of the month,"I flew for two minutes but it felt like eleven hours" I slightly choked while laughing out loud.
I also had a P51, green in color, didn't last long as well. Put a tank on it just like that one. I also ending up putting it on a balsa wood plane. Good memories about, uh can't remember what year, maybe middle 70's.

Flying that little plane in that wind at full throttle! YOUR THE MAN! Great job!
oh yeah...

That was the first engine I ever flew a plane with. It’s just balls to wall and that’s it. You really have to be on your toes ever second. You did great Capt Blaz
yes when flying this you must be there 100% all the time...
Same here, still have a Cox Venom, but now EU regulations mean we can`t get over 17% nitro :(
Brought back fond memories of flying string controlled .049 planes many decades ago. A BIG Thank you to the both of you.
thanks..... no problem...
Blaz, I got a U-control airplane just about that size for Christmas 1958. Very impressive flying Captain Blaz!
It really takes full concentration to manage this little wasp!

Wow, that seems like a handful! Exactly like you said - it's not how long the plane flies, it's how long it feels like.
yes this is it....
Nice flying captain Blaz and what a great save on the second flight. I thought it was going in for sure.
yes me to but i did it....

This is the engine I used as a kid for countless summer hours!. I love it..
+300!!
What a save at second (successful) launch!!
Now we know why Captain Blaž is still Captain - he refuses higher rank because he is afraid of being removed from flight line!
And an absolute master of Cox engines - hats down!!
oh yeah...thanks my friend!!!!!
Cptn Blaz.... that little plane is a RIPPER. Great flying!
thanks.....
Much more impressive than I expected! You will have to race the buffalo with that and see what is faster!!
thanks.....but i think that this is faster...
Nitro for the win!
Reminds me of my control line planes when I was a kid at least you didn’t spin in circles till you got dizzy 👍🏻
oh have to try control line some day...
@@elpunto231 You will enjoy it.
What a crazy flight! No throttle control? Just goes full throttle and a prayer? So Wild......
yes these engines are full gas all the way....
We never had luck with starter springs. We always just started them manually. Was and always be great memories from the 60`s
Great flying good job!!!
How awesome that little plane is ! Great flying Captain Blazz!
thanks.....
That waa fun!!! Well recovered, Capt Blaz - it was only a whisker above theground.
oh yes.....it was just :)
Captain Blaž's second hand toss scared the heck out of me, thank God he pulled out last second!
oh yes it was close :)
Brings back memories. I used to stick Cox 09 engines on 049 air frames. The flight field would clear rapidly. :)
Great shooting Robert, and great save on the second takeoff Capt. Blaz!
Thanks my friend. I did my best. The bird is really small and fast as hell.
Brilliant fun.
yes i love this litle engines to...they are very sexi..
Great flying there Captain, VERY low at times.I have never seen anyone with the amount of models you fly.Its never boring plus you guys are excellent.my favourite channel
thanks for kind words.....we just love what we do....
Great stuff Captains R&B, brings back many happy crazy flying memories...
oh our pleasure...cheers...
Nicely presented nitro fun Capt. Blaz! Especially Big Salute for flying this small bird in this crazy wind! We love the green hardhat and the "special" outfit too! :D You are the true Master of Nitro! Cheers, ,O7
thanks!!!
Sehr cool, früher hatten die meisten Probleme den Zaunkönig überhaupt in die Luft zu bringen. Den Meisten ist das Ding bevor der Sprit lehr war abgestürzt, mein Respekt.
yes it is not that easy to start it but when it does it is lots of fun...
Bring back go old memories of the UFO with the 049 cox engine that you just launch like a frisbee...
i hope these engines will live on so we can see them on videos...
You guys have too much fun !!
Oh yeah my friend ;-)
VERY cool little airplane Captain Blaz. And I salute your flying skills in the wind. Oh yeah! ***
thanks!!!
Salute Capt. Blaz showing off!!! Not only is he flying but on the second toss he also was cutting the grass. :)
I grew up playing with these engines… Are used to have a lot of line control airplanes, as radio equipment was very expensive in the 80s. Man I really enjoyed hearing that sound! This is it! Awesome video guys, keep up the great work!
thanks.....
Great control Captain Blaz.....very good reflexes🇬🇧👍
oh yeah...
Even the BIRD,, came by at end,,,, to SALUTE!!!!AWESOME as ALWAYS!!!!!Have a great weekend boys!!!!!
thanks.....you too...
Ver very nice. The engine was so cool. I know the cox motors from 30 years ago. Very good work captain Blaz
oh thanks...i have a few of them and i love them all..
Terrific pilot skills!! Wow!!
That thing is fast!! Nice flying Captain Blaz’ and nice camera work Robert! 👍👍✈️
thanks!!!
Oh, that second hand toss and aerobatic routine at 12:25! Great flying Blaz ... looked pretty insane in that wind!
yes almost :O)
Hey this plane goes faster when it approaches the camera and slows down when flying away! Run Forest, run!!
And that's! why I went to electrics years ago.
Good times Blaz that little plane is so freakin fast it has to be hard to fly good job flying it and good job Robert on filming it.
thanks!!!
this was the sound of the very first rc plane i had ever seen/heard. that sound and the little red plane it was on is what made me love RC !
Salute from Greece 🇬🇷🛫🇬🇷🛫
I ll go for a beer also.....
ahahah...thanks my friend....
Cox did make a throttle version of this .049. It was a sleeve fitted over the exhaust port that opened or closed it. I had one at one time.
oh that is awsome...
That sound is an epic throwback to my youth, Thanks for that gents!
Looks like Capt Blasz could use some expo. When I flew 049 a kid and it didn't start after priming I would cover one gas filler tube with my finger and push gas through till it tricked out the bottom of the motor. This forced gas to flow better. Usually started after that. Love that sound of my childhood.
That was some sick flying!
Oh ...i see spat flips on that plane ..love that cox 049 .. have a great weekend bros.
ahahahahhahhahhah you to...
Very nice!! Great flight. This is what I remember from the 1970s! So difficult to fly but so much fun. Thank you for this video.
thanks.....hope you enjoy it...
Absolutely!😃
oh yes we must fly no metter what...crash is just something that is a part of his...
Nice job Blaz. I remember those old Cox engines when I was a kid. Can be a real knuckle buster if you get you hand in the way of that prop with that spring....lol
thanks!!!
Glow 0.049 with an auto start. I had one of these when I was a teenager. Attached to a free flight plane and it was free alright. It flew away :)
great flying....i remember the .049 in many plastic u-control planes...We made airboats with them
I had the same engine in a boat as a kid, and I don't remember it running so long on each tank.
Great video as usual!
ahahah good one there my friend...
I’m going through watching all videos....no one compares to you guys ..don’t change what your doing
Watching from Mississippi
Thanks my friend for stopping by. Dont worry, channel will stay like it is as long as we will film. Big salute from Slovenia.
Here in the US we get the 6 o'clock wind, it dies out usually to complete calm between 7-9pm summer. Early morning in winter, same hours, but going from dead calm to windy. Check your local conditions, it makes flying so much less expensive!!
Blaz, nice flying brother, you had me worried a couple times that you might need to get the glue out but you handled that demond good.
oh yeah thanks!!!!!
Great flying capt. Blaz, and awesome camera work pilot Robert, that’s a hard plane to keep up with, love you guys hey, salute 👊🏼👊🏼
thanks!!!
How fast !!! Little Cox 049 , fantastic power to weight ratio . You must have super lightweight receiver and servos.
That was crazy, fly til you run out of fuel! After a few moments Capt Blaz got his color back.
oh it was crazy....
Having seen that flight, I now see the wisdom of the hard hat... Capt. Blaz, my respect to you for keeping the little devil in the air. A piece of history presented in the best way! :D
great flight love that sound keep up the videos you guys rock
thanks.....
I still have a few of those engines from my childhood. A few planes. But are control line, maybe I can convert them. I do have a couple with external fuel tanks to get longer flight. Was nice to hear the noise again.
oh you must do it....you will love it...
What an exciting flight....breath taking. Great video.
Thank you very much...
Looks like a Cox Golden Bee. They're great little engines! I used to fly a 2 meter glider powered with a Cox Black Widow .049.
oh yes i have one to..we will try it on video...
