    Thank you so much for this video. I had a very large quilt, a little larger than a king, and I followed your video and attached the binding on it while it was on the frame and cut it loose from the frame like you demonstrated, and it made it so much easier. I am so grateful, I will never sew a binding on my domestic machine again! Thank you, Thank you😊

    Hi Becky, I mentioned your name at The Seam Shoppe in Key West and they said to tell you hello and said how much they enjoyed meeting you. We did all the touristy things then went to the fabric shop. The hotel clerk asked what we bought. When I told him charm packs and fat quarters, you’d think I was from another planet!

    I am doing the very same frog fabric for my great grandson’s quilt. I like your green binding fabric better. I would love to see your’s finished.

    I absolutely love this!! I tried it for the first time a couple of days ago. It took a bit longer than I thought but so much faster than using the domestic machine. I’m sure it will get easier/faster the more I use this method. Thanks for showing us how to do this.

    Awesome, Becky. There are so many tutorials on this, but yours is so clear. Love the tip on cutting the excess off while still loaded on the frame. Thank you!

    I just sent this to a friend who has a longarm and makes beautiful charity quilts. I hope this will speed up the part of the process that many of us don't particularly love. Thank you!

    These are skills I just learned in the last year with my long arm. What a wonderful time saver and I love not wrestling the quilt under my machine and not crawling on the floor to trim it.

    I had tried to imagine how you could bind a quilt on the long arm. It wasn’t anything like I thought! It was better! I thoroughly enjoyed this! I need to tell my long armer about this video! You are truly amazing! Thank you so much, Becky! It was pure entertainment to me since I don’t have the big machine!

    Wow!!! Just wow!!! I’ve only had a longarm for a little over a year but had zero clue to put the binding on AND trim the quilt while still on the longarm. That was cool to watch Miss Becky. Truly appreciate you taking the time to take us along on this very informative tutorial. Can I ask what brand of scissors you are using? Have a most marvelous week. 🤗

    I’ve seen the binding installed on Handi Quilter, your method seems easier. I never thought about trimming the quilt while it’s still on the frame. But that would only be mine. Many quilters don’t want their quilts trimmed. Some prefer to wrap their binding using the backing. Great job Ms Becky! 19:18

    I tried putting a binding on some charity car seat bumpers and whoo boy It was a hot mess! 😂 I didn’t think to use a ruler! Will be trying that next time…we’ll, after getting the binding on the last three quilts I just did. Thanks, Becky.

    I love this, but my longarm scares me to death. I put off quilting as long as I can…lol. I have been quilting for about 13 years. I love to piece, but I just can’t get comfortable with that quilter. I just finished the biggest quilt I’ve ever made today, and I’ll never make a big one again. I have had that one on my frame for over a year. I know, I’m being ridiculous, but the only design I am even close to mastering is a meander. My feathers aren’t to bad, but not consistent. I don’t sell, because I just don’t think they’re good enough. I’m going to try to get more practice in and I’m going to try your binding and trimming method. Now if I could only make that thing go straight…lol. Pray for me. lol thanks for the video

      I understand how you feel. I'm terrible at FMQ myself, which is why I have the automation. Even that is intimidating at times. But you just have to do it and keep at it. If meander is all you are comfortable with? Then so be it! What good is that 'quilt' that's not quilted? Tell yourself you're just going to do one row. Just start and go. Before you know it, the quilt will be finished and you'll feel more confident about how the machine behaves which is very important before you get into more advanced designs like feathers. These youtubers make them look so easy! But just give yourself a break, get behind the handlebars, and do your very best. You can do this!!

      @@PowerToolsWithThread ..thank you so much for the encouragement. I wish I had seen this video before I took that monster off the frame. Lol. I am going to try. Yep, the meander is fine for me, at least for now. I have a Grace Majestic frame. It doesn’t have that second bar almost under the take up bar. So I have to raise the take up bar every time I roll it or it drags, and sometimes I forget, then there’s a mess. It’s heavy and I have problems with my hands, so my husband is going to use my unused batting bar to modify my frame. Yay! I really like your setup, but no more money is going into quilters…lol. Thanks again. You’re an inspiration

    This is great, how do you do it with a quilt that is not square.?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Рік тому

      It's actually fairly easy. Just follow the edge and fiddle with the miter until you get it to fold correctly. If the quilt top is way off, you'll want to attempt to square it as much as possible before you load it on the longarm. It's better to micro trim first.

    I'm definitely going to try this. I have a glide foot on. I imagine it can be done with that. A question- How did you decide on the height of your frame? I'm 5'7" and have my frame at the highest point. It's hard to see the top, so I probably would have to unroll the quilt closer to me. Thanks for the video. Your longarm videos are greatly appreciated.

    I know you say you don’t like to hand sew anything. You attached to binding from the front. Won’t stitches show on the front on the quilt front or do you catch the binding, from the front or back?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Рік тому +1

      I fold the binding over to the back and machine stitch in the ditch from the front.
