    Here’s what I love about your playing: it comes with incredible emotional delivery. You’ve so thoroughly and deeply analyzed such guitar legends as Michael Landau, Dann Huff, and Steve Lukather that during your demos, with your sound processing and playing, you sort of immerse the listener in the ’80s.

    Great playing and congrats on that Tyler. I totally agree with you on the add bridge push/pull being hard to get to. I ended up sacrificing the middle position for it on most of my guitars, and just getting that tele split on all of them. It works for me but isn't for everyone. Cheers.

    Congratulations on acquiring ‘Woody’ Rich. As always your playing and tone is fantastic, that Tyler really does sound amazing! I’ve even warmed to the Tyler headstock over the years.😂 Just wanted to mention for anyone wanting that 80’s Huff ‘midboost tone’ and not wanting or able to stretch to the cost of a USA Tyler. Fitting 2 Seymour Duncan hot stacks and a JB with the widely available Fender Eric Clapton signature midboost circuit (I bought mine from Anderton’s) will get you there. This requires a bit of rudimentary soldering, probably best to go to a competent tech if you also want series and parallel switching added but ‘all in’ can be done for a few hundred pounds. I also fitted Fender locking tuners and the Wilkinson WVS 130 bridge with locking saddles (now used on the Suhr Pete Thorn signature models) to one of my Strats. These mods absolutely transformed it into a great playing and sounding ‘Huffcaster’. Thanks for all of your time and effort with your excellent videos. Enjoy ‘Woody’.

      @RichardWatson  Місяць тому +1

      Great advice, man! You can also order the Tyler midboost direct from Demeter for a reasonable price. I've seen a lot of guys building their own Huffcasters recently- which is great to see! Thank you for the kind words, man- it's appreciated!

    you’re the man - I’m biting the bullet, gonna get the pickups changed in my strat and get some series parallel switching by going on. the main thing im worried about is this preamp situation - i’m wondering if there’s any kind of stomp box solution…so having the correct pickups and series parallel but no battery in the guitar - maybe some kind of “over buffered” signal could get this? or a BBE? thoughts?

      It is, indeed! But Jim's magic is in the details. From what I understand, there's a pretty exceptional level of quality control at Tyler and you're also buying into a very rich legacy (in terms of all the studio musicians that Jim built guitars for). You will get a similar experience with builders like Suhr and Tom Anderson, but they're all a little different!

      I used to hate the headstock but have warmed to it over the years. Regrettably, it prejudiced my decision some years ago when I declined to try out James Tyler guitars in a dealership at their recommendation.
