As a therapist looking into whether a5x is worth the investment, I thank you for this review. You've answered some questions even the "professional reviews" didn't.
Hi there. Fellow A5X owner here. Your lasso tool changes to show when you have a copied element (icon changes from the lasso to the double squares). You can operate it just the same as when you had it as a lasso, with the one exception that when you already have copied content (icon changes to double squares), you can tap anywhere and repeatedly copy that element. You made the right choice!
Thanks for the video! I have the Remarkable 1 and was deciding between the Remarkable 2 or Super Note. Even though you made some good points, I think I'm going with the Remarkable 2. The open to wake feature would be amazing to have but the simplicity of the Remarkable is what I need. My personal opinion is that when you start adding too much functionality to a note taking device, it becomes a little too convoluted and one can run into hiccups just trying to take notes. Lots of functionality is good for some, simplicity is good for others! Thanks again for the video!
Thanks for the detail review. The one thing that I don't understand is why people always talk about the pen being on the side of the tablet when in a bag. I am sure everyone has a pen area in their bags and backpacks. In addition, keeping a pen on the side of the device when in a bag is a bad idea as it can scratch up the device when moving around.
Oh! You can actually change the scaling of the file manager (on the supernote) so things are smaller. It's that button under the star. Keep pressing it and you'll get to that smaller size
Thanks very much for your review. I wanted to see a more "normal review" than a professional one. Don´t get me wrong, i like to see professionals videos but i wanted to see more of a normal view as you said, on average person. You did it perfectly. Nice job. Thanks again for sharing your thougths!
Thank you for your review. It will surely help me making an informal decision of buying a multi-use E-Ink device. Just one important info I guess, you may have not thought about.. is how securely the SuperNote A5X is attached to its book cover :) It is an ingenious idea! I saw that in another review.
Hi, this feature at 16:31 is just amazing 🤩 I am learning Norwegian and I write down new words, new sentences, new content learned throughout the day in a notebook; soon this notebook will be a thing of the past. I will place an order today on the super note site and this feature will be very useful to me at the top of the page to reference all the new lessons and possible revisions that I could find instantly in their logical chronology. Thank you for reviewing this device 🙏🏽
Thanks for doing this review, Brad. It was helpful and making my decision. I saw another review where the person liked using the remarkable 2+ pen on the SuperNote. That may be helpful to you.
Estou em Portugal. Este vídeo tirou as minhas dúvidas em perceber qual o melhor notebook para mim. Se tinha dúvidas, agora sei que a minha compra será o Supernote A5x.
Bradley. Thank you! I am a professional looking at the A5x as well. No drawing, all notes from multiple meetings. I manage a large group and feel this could help me contain my notes in a more professional way. I would love an update to this video on your 1-year impressions. How has your usage changed? Are you still impressed? How has the pen and screen held up? Are you still sold on using the supernote over paper? Again...... Your video seems to fit my use cases the best so I appreciated your work here!
Hey Bryan! I still use and love my SN. I actually did a career and industry change over the last year and it was awesome to be able to reorganize all my past docs into their own place to reference if I ever needed but keep them out of the way for my day to day. Pen an screen are great no wear or issues. I did have my toddler tear off the “leather” pen holder on my pad folio but I was able to get an Amazon replacement that works amazing (just a sticky pen loop holder). My career change has taken me into FinTech so it’s much less “structured” but I still am able to create and sort notes for accounts and standing meetings I have etc., it’s just not as robust as the healthcare exec life. The ability to search handwriting now is huge and takes away a ton of anxiety I had around trying to guess what keywords I’d want to have later. Now I can just search a name, an account or whatever I’m looking for and it’s there. I don’t use any paper notebooks and I don’t ever see me going back. I even got rid of my sticky notes.. I created a notebook called “daily scratch pad” that I have on my quick link page and I just use that for random stuff and move it to the correct notebook after the fact if I want to keep it.
@@RivardBrad that's great to hear! My other use case in annotating documents. Do you know whether the "Digest" feature works on e-pub documents (as opposed to PDF) and whether one can export the annotations? Also, how is SN at handling hundreds of pages of notebooks/annotation? Does it lag with massive amount of pages? Thank you!
The development of these eInk-tablets takes place so rapidly that it's hard to follow. Would really like to see such a demonstration based on the current software status. But anyway, this video is really useful!
Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed the review, and was exactly was I was expecting and needed. I'm a RM2 user, unfortunately however, the screen got damaged and since it's out of warranty only option is to repurchase; so I was doing some research to find out is it was worth waiting for a RM3 to come out. I've just discovered the SN and am considering making the switch based on this and another review. The lasso title-labeling feature is MASSIVE. The only workaround I'd found on the RM2 was to use the thick marker for titles (visual queue). Archaic on such a device. Question: did you manage to transfer your RM2 notes onto your SN? If so, are they still editable or were converted to PDF and static? Kudos!
Yeah, not ideal but I didn’t want to take into account thar aspect as it may not be an issue for some. Personally, I never even got to that point in the decision making process because of the functionality pros of the SN already won out for me. I did have a three month connect subscription as well for the RM2.
Hey Bradley Thank you for your Video. :-) I just got the Remarkable, but I dont like the writing experience so much. I like to write a lot in my freetime and I have a habit of pressing (probably a bit harder than average) in to the paper. while writing. With the remarkable however it felt for me like my hand was gliding very fast over the screen without enough resistance from the nib or the screen. This makes my handwriting worse, since I have less control without the resistance that paper gives me usually. Do you think the Supernote would give me more resistance and control than the Remarkable? Thank you very much.
I do find the film on the SN to be a little “sticky” the harder you press. That might be a better feel for you, but its hard to say if it would be worth the investment/risk if you don’t like it or it doesn’t improve your writing.
I’m really torn myself. I just started paying attention and building interest in these notepad replacement tablets in the past week, and after watching over a dozen YT vids, I’m still going back and forth on which one of these two I want to get. Can someone with working knowledge help lean me in an even more informed direction? Aesthetically, I really like the look of RM2 over the SN. I’m not a sketch artist but occasionally I need some room for doodling with my IT job. I’m very big on planners and lists and random thoughts I want to jot down. The other two things that are important to me as are the ease of creating tags&favorites to quickly recall notes via searching key words; I feel like the SN leans better that way? Also, not a deal breaker, but an advantage, is being able to sync my google calendar with my notepad tablet; again, I believe the SN has the functionality over RM2? What also is important to me will be annotating and transferring PDF files for work between tablet laptop; I believe both RM2 & SN get this job done? I’m not too concerned with the price of each, and not overly concerned with the (new) $2.99 Connect subscription fee after a year. Can someone with working knowledge or either or both help point me in either direction?
No not really. I really just wanted what I thought was the best tool for how I use it, the fact that the SN doesn’t have the subscription is kind of just a bonus. I would have paid the subscription to RM if it worked better for me, but for sure that will be a component for some people.
Your review is awesome! I have been doing some digging and the SuperNote seems to have some issue with its pens- the cap cracking or the pen just falling apart. Have you had an issues with the quality of the pen or the actual device?
No the pen has been fine. Only “issue” is that the HoM pen cap doesn’t stay on the back of the pen. That does bother some but I leave the cap slipped to the cover loop so it’s not a problem for me. I did have my daughter rip the loop off the cover so I orders some stick on loops from Amazon and they are working well.
You could for sure but honestly there are a ton of apps and things like sign now where I personally wouldn’t get one of these strictly for signing PDFs

Hey Bradley, thank you for this Content! Since you decided to keep the SNA5X, did you figure out how to transfer your files from RM2 to SN easily?
No real way to do it cleanly. I just emailed them to myself and imported them as PDF on the SN.
