High level summary: 1. Anything free of cost has no value. Even if diamond is given free of cost, people will not appreciate it. 2. Business and noble cause (non profit) are 2 different with conflicting goals. Do not run a charity and try to compete with others who runs business. 3. A big player always will have advantage. A super big player can make new laws, work around existing rules and make court decisions in its favour.
I can't agree with the last statement. If Firefox starts to put a price tag, people will go onto other browsers, and even the current amount they're earning will stop. Also, you might see that market share is too low in percentages, but what they did is actually keeping the browsers and the web a lot safer. Imagine if there is no Firefox, Google Chrome would tap into highest market share. We can't count in the likes of Microsoft Edge or Brave now, because they're based on top of the Chromium project, which is essentially the same as Google Chrome without Google branding. Now, since there is no Firefox, developers will be accustomed to developing for the Chromium browsers. So when Google (main contributor to Chromium project) decides to add a new web (feature?) then it becomes a lot easier for them to influence the web. Though all browsers based on Chromium gets it, Google gets the advantage and will be in the position to change the Web standard like anything. Even Microsoft tried that before VBScript instead of JavaScript, Microsoft Silverlight for embedding .NET into the browser and also with ActiveX COM Controls. However, Firefox just cannot die at this point. The most famous privacy browser (even used by the likes of FBI) is Tor and it is based on Firefox. There are also a lot of forks of Firefox, of which I particularly heard a lot about WaterFox and LibreWolf browsers. Both of them are doing a lot in terms of service to OSS and keeping the ecosystem balanced.

It was not just due to repetitive prompts that people left FF. Chrome has an extraordinary gap in terms of how advance it is, the v8 engine, edge technology support (latest CSS), enhanced hardware acceleration and extensions, they were simply way ahead of everyone. A Non-profit company like Mozzila simply did not have the workforce to match the development speed.
Plus moving some of their code into Rust forced their developers, most of which were volunteers working in their spare time, to learn a language that is incredibly difficult to learn.
Think School's contents should be added in our Education Curriculum. That's the comment, that comes up in my mind everytime I watch this channel's videos.
I ended up switching from Firefox to Chrome as my main browser after Firefox 52 back around 2018, when pretty much every addon ever created for the browser was deprecated and now a "legacy addon" that did not work in newer versions of Firefox. As someone who used a lot of browser extensions I found this pretty devastating, and it was years before some of the addons I previously used had equivalent replacements on newer versions of Firefox, while I was able to almost immediately replace all the same functionality with Chrome plugins in the meantime. I'm surely in the minority of users with such heavy browser add-on usage, but I'm probably not the only user they lost with this drastic change to the Firefox browser.

Are you a software developer? I think you are not in software industry because it doesn't work like you think. India earns billions from software industry but these are only maintenance and service work. 10% of developing work happening in india. Building os is not easy task. It will take millions of rupees to make an os. Let's say you made an os. Then who will develop software for it? Like Adobe is largest creative software company. Who will develop software for a newer os with very less user base? In india no one even ready to give a single penny for any utility software. India has highest number of cracked software users. So go get some knowledge. Registry system is open in windows. So one can control windows totally . You can literally see windows is doing what behind your back from event logging and registry editor. So get some knowledge before saying something.I am an it guy working in Infosys. I don't know about other countries but If America sanction india nearly 20 lakh people will become directly unemployed and 1 crore indirectly because all top it companie's(Infosys, tcs, etc) 90% client are from us and Europe. If they divert this to Africa then all it employees in india will become unemployed and other service based business depend on these it business will run in loss also. Many people will left country also as all higher salary paying companies in india are either from us or Europe . Most of the start-up from india are also burning money from usa or uk based venture capitalitists. So stop day dreaming. Self independent is impossible for a country to become in this era of globalisation. You can achieve it in certain area but still it is impossible.

But they needed cheap labour for maintenance and service so here india came. So here usa chose india. Was there skilled work force in india in 1990? No. Was there infrastructure in india? No. If client wants to change to different countries like Africa and southeast Asia . Then that can also happen and population of Africa is also equal to india. Why do you think china investing in Africa? Now un and usa also taking part in Africa infrastructure race. Because Africa is richest continent by minerals. Now you question does Africa have 20 lakh it professional? No there aren't . But it will take hardly 4,5 year to create to make them skill full which is happening in many Africa countries. Great video. Mozilla was indeed a great browser. I personally stopped using it only because it's quality deteriorated a lot. This happened especially after few years Chrome was launched. No idea if there is any connection but it made no sense to use it further because it was too heavy to load and consuming a lot of RAM. Also overall browsing experience was not smooth anymore. So inevitably switched to Chrome. But now Microsoft Edge is awesome. Using it daily with no issues.
@keithsze001 Yes right. Had become heavier and crashing in between. Hence gave a try to Microsoft Edge and it did not disappoint. So continuing with that.

While I have highest levels of respect for Mozilla for their intentions and the products (especially Firefox, not a fan of others like Email client), I also feel that calling companies like google as monsters and mafia is not right.... you are posting this for free on a service provided to you by Google. There is over simplification of the rise of Chrome as well. Only pop-up messages to install Chrome did not do the trick. That is too simplistic a statement. Chrome was an amazing success because of its clean look, stability, security, compatibility and regular updates. There was huge engineering behind it. Mozilla also had its share of engineering challenges. I remember uninstalling it because of too much issues and performance caused by plugins. I really wish Mozilla survives and continues to offer us great products and services. But I am not a fan of calling companies like Google a Mafia. If you feel it is Mafia, then stop using it. Including this very channel.
"you are posting this for free on a service provided to you by Google" - you are hugely mistaken here sir, there is no such thing as a free product from big tech companies. You sell your data and your time to YT for the videos you watch, which is worth billions to their advertisers. Always remember, a business has no ethics, only profit.
Dude I'm loving your accent talking about these things! I think it's awesome! 😂 Please I'm not insulting you. Kinda reminds me of Mike Mills from Classic FM. Just more calming to absorb 😂
@Think school: Dude.. I love your explanation. When I started my career, Mozilla was the best(FYI: I don't know what was Google Chrome). Mozilla, was the replacement for the IE browser as it was too slow and had strict security features. (FYI to all: Google search engine was part of and developed further by Mozilla Firefox coz the default search engine was Google in those years) I had an addon feature called Tab-mix-plus may be a long-forgotten plugin or pretty useful at that time and the latest generations had no chance to experience that plugin. FYI(not promoting but feeling sad): That add-on will keep 10 tabs on a row horizontal and x number of columns defined on vertical for individual users to view and work on it, but options were there previously but now it has been depreciated due to a similar reason as you said, People like me had the advantage in firefox to use their outstanding tech or build on them but google chrome has been indirectly forcing us to use multi-tab which has been one row with 200+ tabs seems fine but what the f*** is an end-user behavior..? Now people like me who have experience can comment on Firefox performance but not the current user world because there is another strategy planned by google for the present generation. (FYI)how can you view the tab message of an individual tab if you have used one window and 100 multi-tabs opened??? Yeah, the Google chrome solution says, to create multiple windows and create N number of tabs that you want to create. Technically, Google has created this funda or kind of structure to make people get addicted to that fashion. That's why Google Chrome is your default browser on an Android phone and other elements like windows or any source because of the Search Engine feature created by Google is non-breakable or unless if you are using the customized OS, the browser might change. Anyways, and Chrome is in place despite of certain issues. @Think School: Sorry for the long message, I felt your message on this video is 100% true. I shared my experience of what I had in the past. Hope this gives an idea for the latest generation on

High level summary:

Switching to Mozila now. Thanks bro for all the information.
Chromium is open source

Prasad liked ur word of advice from 15:00. Eternal advice
You literally got me at 0:50

I'm part of the 4% users, who still trust and use Mozilla Firefox, and will continue
Great analysis and story telling. Keep up the good work man.
Please make a case study on 'Physics Wallah '..it's extremely surprising how they provide jee and neet coaching for just 3000rs and have produced top ranks this year... While other institutions charge lakhs .then how PW works at just 3000rs?
Lets wait for few more years... they have just started few years back. And also remember we cannot trust any coaching blindly cuz the toppers are stolen from here and there with financial assistance, not specifically PW but any coaching for that matter. And before aap mujhe bhali baati sunaye... I love Alakh sir and even enrolled in one of their batches.
i think they have huge market all over India (thanks to youtube)
and they have very less staff as compared to others
they less marketing cost as thier users are converted from youtube
they do not need to shoot or make videos again and again they can use old content from youtube with changes and structured manner
and there might be other points too
@@YashX8 right... more than the market their target students are huge. They attacked that portion of students that couldnot afford the high fees of big players in the game... or are in tier 2 tier/3 citites and rural areas who couldnot go to cities like kota delhi, and this portion of students in the game is really huge. Like me if they were not there i couldnot have prepared for my exams. Also their operational cost is very less except faculties, whether there are 1k students or 20k students in a class... they just need a strong server and storage, no extra accommodation costs which would be required in case of offline institutes. To be given to ur knowledge that PW offline centres charges a very high amount, but still less than the giant players.
Proud to be part of the 4%. Started using Firefox in 2006 & its still my default browser.

Count me too. Using it since version 1.0..
Points you missed:
1. Mozilla's UI/UX is outdated (Primary reason I don't use Firefox). Chrome is way ahead.
2. UA-cam runs slow on everything except Chrome.
3. Project Chromium and players like Brave coming out of it and how they are different from Chrome.
4. What people don't like about Chrome ? It's way more Memory Hungry -> scope for other browsers.

But many things other than UA-cam runs faster on Firefox, especially Twitch.

If u can give analysis for Hike Messanger, it would be great. They were good but still failed. The whatsapp was competitor but doesn't have any advantage like Chorme or windows here but still whatsapp surpassed hike
I think hike failed because of brand name. Whatsapp seamlessly flows into the mouth
The thing is for this stuff people use default browsers
WhatsApp somehow penetrated the wall which is not easy for anyone else now.
But hike was great. The message sending was faster, the features were way ahead from WhatsApp then, They even had stickers and hide function, that's why I asked, what could be the possible reasons.
The one you all mentioned might also be possible once, but are they all? Or is it related to only bad manegement?

Then rise of silicon valley happened in usa.

Wow. Just another mind blowing video
I was expecting a shoutout to install and support Mozilla till the end😬. BTW great video as usual 🤠
@Think school: Dude.. I love your explanation.
When I started my career, Mozilla was the best(FYI: I don't know what was Google Chrome). Mozilla, was the replacement for the IE browser as it was too slow and had strict security features. (FYI to all: Google search engine was part of and developed further by Mozilla Firefox coz the default search engine was Google in those years)
I had an addon feature called Tab-mix-plus may be a long-forgotten plugin or pretty useful at that time and the latest generations had no chance to experience that plugin.
Hope this gives an idea for the latest generation on
thanks for mentioning Netscape. Nobody talks about it but people like me, we know what Microsoft did back then. Thank you.
