Brian Germain of "Safety First" on Skydive Radio discusses the reasons for pulling the slider all the way down, and best practice for doing so.
great videos. Problem with being a beginner (3 years in the sport) is you don't know how much you don't know! These videos are very helpful!
So great!
Hi Anthony,
For someone with less than five hundred jumps, I usually do not recommend a removable slider. This is mostly due to the packing complexity. There are more ways to give yourself a malfunction, and it definitely slows down your packing. There are exceptions to every rule, but taking on more variables can result in more problems. Personally, I prefer my removable. Will I jump without a removable slider, yes. Be sure to pull high when you try it for the first ten jumps or more.
Excellent advice as always :-)
Not knowing what you don't know can be really dangerous in this sport. Always ask questions before you do something new. Every skydiver should strive to be open to answering newbie questions and be very open to saying "I don't know, let me help you find someone who does."
another great video thanks Brian - i've been jumping 5 years but only got a few hundred jumps really (british weather, time, money). I've just switched from a Sabre2 210 to a Sabre2 190 but i'm 19st in weight (exit weight of 280lbs or something!). I'm really looking forward to flying it and i love my canopy piloting jumps, but i've never stowed the slider behind my head. Think i'll try this out. i'm looking into getting a removable slider too tbh - worth doing do you think? ant
There is a thread on this on Dropzone dot com in the general section
I need to talk to my rigger. I can't get the slider on my Pilot to come down over the stiff risers of my wings harness. I think it is the reinforcement around the dive handles that is causing me the most grief.
Can you do a separate video on that T on the rises I have a magnetic slider holder but the slider is still pushing on my head to much.
Here is a short article on Slox with installation instructions. bigairsportz.com/art-slox.php
Keep in mind that is likely that the Main Lift Web of your harness could be too long, and/or your legstraps are set too loose. This causes the slider to be higher, relative to your body.
😊👍❤
Looks like it's just a removable slider, not a a full RDS (Removable Deployment System). Any idea where to get one?
