    I like the technique, your casts came out great! I do suspect this product is essentially a rebranded gypsum cement like Hydrocal or Ultracal-- effectively a high-quality plaster. And if it's not the same, it behaves pretty much the same, and you'd get similar castings from either. Ultracal can be bought in bulk bags, so if you have a local seller which carries it (like a ceramic, sculpture or movie effects supplier) you can probably get it cheaper in bulk. Around here I might get it from Burman or Reynolds Materials. Nice videos, cheers!

      I have not personally used those, but I have heard of them. Good to know there are alternatives with similar properties. I'll have to be on the lookout for those when I run low. ;)

      It's amazingly fun to use. Doesn't work for every casting, but some are even better than typical epoxy resin.

    Wow. Very thorough video, thanks for sharing! I haven’t tried resin because of all the issues (needing a respirator, etc.), but I would be tempted to try this!

      Thanks for watching and commenting. While I love working with epoxy resin, it does tend to be messy for cleanup and require PPE. This, and products like it, are easier to cleanup and don't require protection. Cleanup is as easy as a paper towel and water. Can't do that with resin. You can use the same molds as you would with resin. Just keep in mind the super short work time.

      Thanks for watching. I have been artistic most of my life, but making video content is a newer developing skill set, this includes trying to navigate sound engineering. I am curious, as the volumes of the sound channels are set at 100% for the narration and only around 10% for the background music, and when I review it on my PC or mobile platforms the balance is fine without the music overpowering or being close to equal. However, I do know for some reason that some devices will affect how it comes across. Would you mind sharing what type of device you were using so I can sort out if this is device-specific? Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated.

      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому

      When I first started I mixed mine by the measurements on the bucket, which seemed to differ a bit by the batch sizing in consistency. Then I got the measuring kit. It does seem this a fairly foolproof substance as it tolerated variance, unlike regular epoxy resin.

    • @foxysartbox
      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому +1

      I believe it is the same as resincrete, or at least behaves similarly. It wouldn't surprise me if Brea Reese called it ceramic resin to make it sound neater. The molds were purchased off Amazon. Look for nine tail foxes and they should come up.

  • @dss5569

    Hi I have a question wanted to know if you drop it after it's fully cured do they break easy🤔

    • @foxysartbox
      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому +3

      Excellent question. Because you asked, I pulled out a miscast piece (one of the fox bodies) and dropped it onto my basement tiled concrete floor from table height. It struck the floor and rattled a couple times, this means it struck with some good force! The only damage it sustained was a chip to the ear, which was thin. So it is surprisingly durable. I wouldn't throw it, but it seems stronger than gypsum castings which would have broken from that drop force.

    • @foxysartbox
      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому +1

      It's likely very similar. I haven't used those particular formulas so I can't be certain, but I suspect this was Brea Reese's version of it.

    • @foxysartbox
      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому

      Glad you found it informative. Interesting regarding the background music--I have the my narration set at 100% and the music at like 10%, so that curious. When I do the playback after processing it's not that loud. If I may ask, how are you listening to it: PC/laptop computer, mobile, TV stream? It might help me figure out if it's something more mode specific.

    Is this medium waterproof when cured?

    • @foxysartbox
      @foxysartbox  4 місяці тому

      I did in fact test this. I was seeing if I could reactivate, or put some cured bits back into solution. There was no effect. It remained water and bits. I don't think I would expose this to the elements outside as I think time would effect it, but the occasional exposure to moisture seems to not effect it much.
