Fragile has been one of my absolute favorite albums since it came out when I was 14 and I used to listen to the Great Below religiously in my room in the dark. This interpretation and re-arrangement is splendid, truly brings out all the harmonic beauty out of this piece and shows how brilliant of a composer Trent truly is. Fantastic work!
Thank you for your comment, it was a joy to get inside this piece and truly listen, study, unweave and reweave Trent Reznor's compositional brilliance. It was very interesting to try to find the right way to say these things with four cellos! Glad you enjoyed it, I hope to play for you sometime. J
agreed, except swap out 24 for 14 in my case lol
@@JoQuailCello Still incredible 4 years later. Would you be able to share an uncompressed audio or video file of this performance ? This is too incredible to listen with youtube quality. Not as good as live performance that it would come close..
maso... are you me? I did the same exact thing around the age of 12 and 13 haha
I've always wanted this to be played at my funeral (morbid, I know) but now I want THIS version. So incredibly beautiful
Let's wait with that, shall we?!
Then we can be morbid together because I’ve said the same thing for years.
This is a great funeral song
This really showcases what an amazing composer Trent Reznor truly is.
Music is so unbelievably powerful. NIN is so underrated even still to this day- and this composed version is unfathomably beautiful 😭
please dont ever take this video down
Im so happy I found this video. God Im so happy I did.
"11/10 blown away" - a longtime NIN superfan
the only good thing about drinking too much is when you come across a video on youtube as good as this and get to hear it for the "first" time again. fucking phenomenal
The Great Below has been my favorite song since it was released on my favorite album: The Fragile. I was 17 at the time, which for me, was the age that music was an absolute must...A time in my life when music, especially Nine Inch Nails, kept me alive.
This truly is an amazing cover. Thank you for sharing.
Didn't know what to expect, I am amazed. This song is emotionally powerful and you guys nailed it.
They nine inch nailed it.
what a masterpiece. my body just melt on the floor
This would fit nicely on next season of West World.
Haunting performance. I had hoped it'd be this good when I searched for a string cover. Props to Derrick Zoolander for the percussive style.
Rediscovered this after two years and still amazing. play it loudly and feel the bass in the reverberation, chilling. Excellent mixing.
This is one of my favorite covers. They nail it. No pun intended. 😉
This floored me
wow thanks so much !!!!
This is the first time that I have heard his music portrayed in such a way that actually is what he wanted to portray. What a beautiful and awesome job on such a very hard work of music.
There's so much in this song. Each time I listen to it gives me an existential catharsis
Yeah especially this Apocalypticaesque cover is shivers all over.
Interesting cover. The lead that replaces the vocal line is always slightly behind the timing of the song but it still sounds good overall. I wonder if any of these folks in attendance, including the musicians, understand the significance of the song. The understanding of what could have been but acceptance of what's to come...screwing up in life but facing the consequences at the end....leaving what's left to those who will stay behind.... accepting your place in and then descending to hell. This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
My God this sounds so beautiful.
Astounding.
Thank you for your views and comments. It is a stunning track, and was a lot of fun to make this arrangement. I hope you'll enjoy this one too ua-cam.com/video/09etgbPTZ3s/v-deo.html x
Bravo
loved this song as a teenager....never thought it would catch on to this next level music
Wow, just amazing
love that this is in a church
This is the greatest piece of music ever composed by a guy called Trent.
with closed eyes is mind blowing
Gave me chills and made me cry.
You have Got To Be kidding?!!! This completely emotionally moved me! Blown Away!!!!!!!!! Excellence!
fucking haunting
badass, great job
Staring at the sea
Will she come?
Is there hope for me
After all is said and done
Anything at any price
All of this for you
All the spoils of a wasted life
All of this for you
All the world has closed her eyes
Tired faith all worn and thin
For all we could have done
And all that could have been
Ocean pulls me close
And whispers in my ear
The destiny I've chose
All becoming clear
The currents have their say
The time is drawing near
Washes me away
Makes me disappear
And I descend from grace
In arms of undertow
I will take my place
In the great below
I can still feel you
Even so far away
I can still feel you
Even so far away
I can still feel you
Even so far away
I can still feel you
Even so far away
Even so far away
(Even so far away)
(Even so far away)
(So far away)
I love this song. What a beautiful, haunting rendition.
This is absolutely phenomenal !
I can’t believe I haven’t come across it sooner either!?!
I absolutely LOVE NIN and Bethnal Green is a special place for me, I got married in the Working mans club a few years back, so to hear this (also one of my all time favourite emotional Trent Raznor masterpieces) and realise you guys were there too….
Goosebumps, EVERYWHERE!
You guys are amazing!🖤
Absolutely beautiful
Wow. This gave me goosebumps. One of my favorite NIN songs.
Absolutely
Simply beautiful
Loved it and agree with Nancy Noise's comment here. Trent is a great composer, one of the best alive today. Congrats on a beautiful performance, too. Hope Trent has seen it.
man i can feel this fitting with the joker soundtrack xD
Excellent
Damn that was super dope.
Wish I was there!!!!!!'
My dog watched this video and he can still feel it...even so far away...
Breathtaking. Beautiful. Absolutely brilliant!
I'm in love with this song!!
Who's cutting all of these effing onions in here? Amazing work!
Hauntingly beautiful! 🖤
Time has stopped for 5 minutes 34 seconds
Wow. This is breathtaking.
WOW. JUST WOW!!!!!!!!!!
That was amazing!
5 minutes can be so short. Listening to this again and again and again...
Moved me to tears. Stunning.
Nothing excites me more than seeing this beautiful piece played acoustically in a church!!
Thank you for this.
Great performance! Adding that acoustic drum set to the percussion section at the end could have been the cherry on top. It'd be tough to do right though
Hearing this soulful rendition of this song, with all of the enormous emotional output it carries, pulled me from the heights of anxiety into sublime tranquility. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow! Beautiful!!!!
That was beyond amazing... deeply haunting. Wow!!
Wow, thank you!
42k views and 6 years and I'm just hearing this! Beautimous! 💗
Thank you - it was a lot of fun to arrange this. J
This. Was. Amazing.
He touched an essence that translates in every shape it takes, he's a fkin genius ! Well done guys !
this has always been one of my favorite nin songs and i have got to say you absolutely nailed it! i had goose bumps the whole way through. many people try to cover nin tracks and fall short but this was just amazing!
Thank you for writing, so glad you enjoyed it.
When you started plucking I knew I was in for a treat... I can't believe I haven't heard this before, been a massive fan of NIN since 1994, and you absolutely "got" this song in every detail possible. The way you emulated the drum track at the end too was ingenious.
A little ironic that you were playing it in a church though :). Massive props for this cover, it's a work of art.
Stunning, heartbreaking, gorgeous!
+Evie M Thank you. It's a superb track, a pleasure to make this arrangement of it! J x
Great song, great cover.
awesome!
I always loved this song. This is beautiful. I think another good NIN song is a warm place. I believe that is all piano. This is one of my favorite Reznor instrumentals.
So close to the original, yet so far away. The tiny differences make it even more Hauntingly Beautiful. Reminds me of how Trent does the songs at every show with slight distinctions between them making them feel even more organic.
I’m crying
Brilliant cover.
I love this 😍
Mi canción preferida de NIN y suena jodidamente genial!!! me alegra saber de grandes músicos haciendo tributos como este. No me hacen sentir sola :D
Truly.
Beautiful!!! So much so it might have brought a tear 😢😉
Thank you Angela, it's a beautiful track to work with. x
Wow, what a truly stunning cover of a great Trent song. Not usually one a fan of cover versions (especially NIN, however this version breaks that long held view!!!
Truly stunning, thank you for sharing it with us.
Talking of good nin covers-have you heard ixi- downward spiral reimagined for piano? It’s on Spotify and it’s awesome
Great job! I enjoyed this so much! Reznor is a great composer-love how single themes eventually seamlessly all pile into one beautiful composition
im 10 mins away never seen this
Beautifully done. This arrangement captures the depth and emotional current of the original release.
5yrs later and I still get shivers up my spine...
As I was watching this I was thinking, how are they going to do the drums? Nice touch.
Awesome cover, thanks
Thanks a lot!
Mesmerized...
i love this so much
So beautiful...really...
beautiful
love it
This is so cool
you guys need to cover up Hurt!!, fantastic work! finally an orchestra that captured Trent Reznor's sensibility.
I will work on it! Thank you for listening. Jo
That was played at a church?! How fucking awesome.
Incredible
A...MAzing. Thanks for doing this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
2:46
sounds like jesus returning and taking everyone to heaven. amazing cover
Magnificent.
BEAUTIFUL
This is awesome!
Beautiful, all of them, all of it! Deep and Moving! I LOVE IT! Nice and clear too, great work on the capture and studio work!
Absolutely amazing!!
Girl on the right is really into it, love it! The atmosphere and tone is so sincere and the instrumentation was so haunting, even compared to the original. Regardless of a few timing errors, you guys absolutely nailed the tone, feeling, and atmosphere of this piece all while adding your own interpretation. The flourish at 3:54 that lead back into the original melody line was so lonely and ponderous, it really showcased that the group was totally in tune with what the piece was about; absolutely beautiful. There's so many little nuances that I want to go on about, but I'll condense it into this: I really, really appreciate what you've done here. It was really inspiring.
Thank you!!
One of my favorite songs!
Great job,goosebumps.
