Overdrive is absolute peak live HIM. Best live versions of for you and it’s all year and love and death embrace. This was absolute peak Ville vocally, what a show

Overdrive or Berlin 2000
HIM - Live at the Orpheum Theatre (Digital Versatile Doom) is the best live I've seen of the band in general, but after that one this is my second favorite so far and probably for ever
@@alekzgs4755 that’s a great show and obviously much longer which is nice, I prefer this one more because Ville’s voice was stronger before years of smoking and drinking impacted his voice. He was still a great singer at the time of Orpheum show but his range was the best in the very early years of HIM, also they were just heavier at this time which I liked, their performance of for you from this show is prob my favorite live performance of any one of their songs. The orpheum show is a tremendous performance and live album tho no doubt about that

@@alekzgs4755 yup like his always remained a high quality singer but when he was young he had a truly incredible range and the constant smoking and drinking definitely took away a little bit of his range

Guess what? . . . I was watching exactly that show inluding the interviews in 1998. And guess another what? . . . It`s still my favourite live recording of HIM. I wish they would do a proper remaster of these live-tracks and release them officially.

Absolutely agree, got all their albums but since Love Metal never liked them as on the first 2 and even 3rd - atmosphere just has yielded to commerce...
He's been through so much, that he's not the same person. I think California ruined him, but it helped him to become who he is today.

He already gave us his masterpieces. Everything else is just a bonus. You can't fault the man for trying to make more music that he wants to make. Is this and the other older stuff better? Absolutely, but give him a break. He's having fun and still alive.

Huge fan since 2000 and it was in the TV Channel Viva I've found them. HIM @ Overdrive... is just priceless. ❤ And of course, I'm still a huge fan of VV in 2023, saw 2 amazing concerts, last February here in Portugal.❤

I guess Ville wasn't allowed to smoke or drink here... He doesn't seem to know what to do with his hands. In Hannover he had a smoke in one hand and a bottle in the other the whole time...

well he lights a cigarette at 36:35. i was a real death/thrash metal purist when this came out, so i did not care too much for HIM. but somehow this stuff just keeps getting better and better with age.

I remember that time where i liked Vampire Novels of Ann Rice but i was not a Goth (had no Intention in wearing Black) I was thinking..hey he would be a great Lestat rising Akascha from her State. Cause his Voice was so badass..or dark. Loved HIM. My Beginning of the Journey into Metal. (Though i am still not looking like a Metal Fan.hehe)
I always thought they based Lestat's rock star personality from Queen of the Damned on Ville Valo. The sad part is not even Ville has the same personality nowadays, he lost the "seducting, sure of himself" touch from what I have seen from the latest live performances 😢
