Thanks for the video, it gets me hope 😀 Its exactly one month since my surgery (septoplasty, mucotomy and fess). I expected better breathing after and I was little disappointed because its not what I expected (but still improving). Also I got some nasal corticosteroids spray because of swelling in my nose (probably cause of worse breathing). Obviously it will take more time to heal, as you mentioned.

I hope you do it. I’m 4 days out of surgery and it’s no big deal. I only used a couple pain pills the night after surgery- not because I was in pain, but ‘just in case’ I woke up in the night with pain. After that, I didn’t even need Tylenol. It’s kinda like having a cold for a week- your nose is stuffy (but you can’t blow) and you don’t sleep well because you have to sleep sitting up (or mostly up). Rinsing with saline regularly (at least 4x per day) is key so it won’t get crusty. I can’t wait for 4 more days to pass and I can get the plastic stint removed so I can breathe again.

I'm in my mid-30s and about to have it done. There's no doubt that it affected my sleep, which permeated my performance in school, at work, poor exercise habits, etc., and I've dealt with depression my entire life. I've never had a night of sleep that I woke up and felt rested and consistently felt low motivation and I can't help but feel like getting a good night's sleep will start to shift everything. Do it as young as possible so you never have to question if life may have been different if you hadn't.

Just got it done, 41, the surgery itself is scary as you are under anesthesia and the post is a bloody mess but all things considered its not really that big of deal. The risk of complication is less than 3% and the healing process is quite quick. Take two weeks off and get it done, the risk reward is for sure worth if it you are having issues inhibiting your quality of life.

Nasal oil drops or spray can also help; need to be used 3 to 4 times a day.
You can assess your success if your nose does not become blocked while sleeping.
It is difficult to compare results during sports, even healthy people who don't have this issue can feel same.

One week post op currently. I'm fit enough to get back to work, but still have heavy blockage, mainly in one nostril (the one that is supposed to end up cleared). Doctor says it can take months to notice changes or not, so I'll have to see how I feel around June time to know if it was worth it or not.
PS. I wouldn't take advice on whether or not getting the stents removed is painful or not, some people say yes, some say no. For me it hurt ALOT, so be prepared to take a taxi home, as I was too dizzy to drive after it - that said, about 2 hours later it was a relief to feel air in my nose.

Hi, I have been having difficulty sleeping for several months. My ENT said that I have a deviated septum and concha hypertrophy. The procedure will be septoplasty and turbinate reduction at the same time. It will be done using minimally invasive surgery. I'm really scared of ENS. Do you think it is safer if the procedure is done one at a time or both at the same time?

@@aadityagahlot7347 my stents came out on Wednesday, today is Friday. It's such an odd feeling having my nose so wide open all the time. I tried doing cardio at the gym and the dry/cold air was a bit painful. I'm sleeping so much better though, I've even managed to start dreaming again. My nose is still raw and sensitive but I'm not having any congestion or a lot of mucous production like others have experienced. I had a septoplasty and a SUBMUCOSAL turbinate reduction. As far as I can tell, getting a submucosal turbinate reduction makes a big difference in your recovery compared to non submucosal. The week I spent with the stents in my nose was a horrible experience that I felt like it would never end. Now that I've got them out, I'm very happy with my results.

@@kazman_6899I am sure he is talking about the overall appearance of the nose, which in Septoplasty it does unless you get something else. During a septoplasty the surgeon goes and removes the deviated portion of the septum to open up the airway passage for the nostrils to breathe better.
