Alan, if that is an original Giorgio De Chirico behind you - Kudos to you!
Greatest surrealist painter of the 20 Century other than Dali, (with painting exceptions perhaps to Balthus); and the only contemporary artist on display in the Uffizi Collection of Renaissance Masters.
Either way, the DeChirico is a fine work in your collection.

Wow! This is an amazing collection! As a baseball fan living in the San Francisco Bay Area, I attend as many games at Oracle Park as I can. I attend any games with the Phillies (I'm a life-long Phillies fan since my dad is from eastern PA) and any games where I think a future Hall of Famer will be playing. I went to the Phillies games this week and to the Yankees today.

Two other things: I like most of the more recent changes in MLB. And, although I am a Republican, I don't think that the Republicans, Democrats or any other party or ideological group have a monopoly on truth or policy perfection. I can applaud a Democrat if they do what I believe they should just as readily as I would a Republican. I learned this from my dad -- a staunch Republican -- who always told me to listen to all facts and all sides of an argument before I reach a conclusion.

Alan, I enjoyed today's show. I'm glad to see you take some pleasure in your memorabilia and your wonderful memories.
I must say that the past weeks of bringing to light the atrocities in the Middle East must have been difficult for you. I watched those
shows because as the Buddha said, "awaken yourself to the reality of suffering in the world".

Alan, you have a fantastic collection! I love the stories behind them as much as the items themselves. This has been my favorite Dershow.
I guess about six or seven years ago I restarted my childhood hobby of collecting baseball cards. I began collecting cards in 1980; but, I stopped around 1983. My mother did NOT throw my childhood cards away because I packed them up with me when I went away to college!
Nonetheless, I'm having so much fun collecting again. As an Atlanta native, I adore Henry Aaron and he's a focus of my collection now. And I've begun putting together team sets of the (Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta) "Braves" from as early as 1911 thus far.
Thank you for sharing your stories/memories.

I had my first job programming a vacuum tube computer at MIT’s Lincoln Lab, in 1959. Being a basketball fan, I bought a season ticket for the Celtics, who starred Bill Russel and Bob Cousy. The seat was a chair at center court and the price of the ticket was $5 a game.

My brother is a Ynakee fan and of course, baseball. I went to a Queens neighborhood I don't recall the name, anyway, it was so interesting because Lena Horne first bought property and many Black jazz musicians followed her, beautiful homes. And the guide said Babe Ruth also lived in the neiborghood. I was very excited and couldn't wait to phone my brother to tell him. I did, but he just said But he was a fall down drunk. OK. So, I went to Coopertown, to Louisville, visited the bat factory, they have the great players bats. I did not tell him about none of those visits. I think he is just a mean resentful and jealous man.

I started collecting the baseball cards when year after Mickey Mantle rookie season. I had plenty of Mickey Mantle cards but not his rookie month. But then again if I did have it I'm sure it would have been not in the excellent condition that would require the card to be worth all that money. Anyway. I can remember being a free range of kid as they called it in the old days driving all over Vancouver. Looking for a store that would have the packages of baseball cards. Good fun!. I remember as a kid at an L.A. dodger game the crowd gave a standing ovation for Stan Musial. Still love that Dodger blue but think Derek Jeter is the best basebll representative to come along in a long time, a real class act.

I was cleaning carpets in private residents Green Bay a few years ago. The homeowner was a man about your age.
I was wearing my Packers gear, hat, gloves and jacket.
Seeing me decked out in green and gold, he invited into his family room where he had a glass cabinet filled with amazing Packers memorabilia.
The crown jewel of this collection was a very old Duke football autographed by great Packers players and coaches from the 40's - 60's.
Thank you for sharing your collection.
I hope you make more videos like this. Being a famous New Yorker, perhaps you have some insight or personal encounters with the great Vince Lombardi you can share.
With regard to the ongoing crisis my heart bleeds for innocent victims caught in the middle of the violence.
In a power storm of emotions and many tears I pray for peace every night.
I have great admiration and respect for you and your defense of the constitution.
    God bless you Professor.

I have 1994 Ken Griffey and Barry Bonds, sealed from new, Gold Leaf Stars cards. Are they worth anything? 😅 Oh yeah, a bunch of Jeff Bagwell and Mike Mussina, and a couple Derek Jeter Diamond Collection rookie cards too. I should probably look into that. My rent is going up 7.5%

    • @Vintage_Goats
      @Vintage_Goats Місяць тому

The Jeter rookies are probably most of the value there. Sadly card companies overproduced cards and most cards aren’t worth the pack that they’re in. Atleast in the 90s
