Fun fact about kaiju battles: people don’t care about character development when there’s a giant, nuclear-powered lizard shooting death lasers at a three-headed space dragon
That is true.
Or a giant Monke.
Eh... I do enjoy some character development in the films. Not as much as the symbolism and overall story and lore though. The fighting is an amazing spectacle nonetheless.
That Will depends of the people, but okay
The lore of Godzilla is over thirty movies and he's basically the Punisher in giant monster form. Sometimes he's a sadistic good guy, other times he's a violent bad guy

Yes... because the movie came out in the fifties, in Japan, which has radioactive areas due to atomic bombs. So I think he appeared due to the atomic bombs dropped in the forties 😂
well, then again, the first Godzilla movie came out at 1954, about 15 years after the Hiroshima bombing incident. so in a way, Godzilla is a symbol of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing...

Sorry, I just HAD to put that there.
"What is Godzilla fighting over there with three heads?" That's King Ghidorah, Godzilla's arch rival, King Ghidorah, the best way to describe Ghidorah is that he's a living extinction event, a giant three headed space dragon who, among other things, is responsible for the extinction of the Dinosaurs, is worshipped by an alien cult and has fought Godzilla on numerous occasions.
So, in the same way Godzilla is a force of nature fights to maintain balance, Ghidorah is the embodiment of absolute malevolence that brings nothing but annihilation.
@@cjkalandek996 Correct. Though I would agree with MyAbridged in saying that Ghidorah is more like the embodiment of mass extinction.
Well he also wiped out civilizations on on other planets as well
Some extinction event he turned out to be, he fails hard.
magatanazoa in a nutshell
The robot Godzilla was fighting with is known as Jet Jaguar. A weird ass robot from the 1970’s film Godzilla vs Megalon. The Godzilla lore is literally 60 years deep.

It’s pretty hilarious seeing a non Godzilla fan being exposed to the Godzilla insanity for the first time lol
True
Hell, this ain't even his most insane.
For reference to the "Godzilla don't play that way" response to why Gamera wouldn't escape, Godzilla straight up does not retreat. Ever. Godzilla will chase you to the ends of the earth and destroy everything along his path that gets in the way. In Final Wars, he literally chased the Gotengo throughout the entire movie because of a multi-decade long grudge, murdering multiple monsters as he did.
Godzilla does not understand the concept of the word "retreat."
And likely doesn't care enough to find out.
The King does not retreat!
He did retreat once against Kiryu though
@@rumblybog7129 Only after taking a point-blank Absolute Zero Cannon blast to the chest that left a distinctive scar.
But yes, that is an instance where he retreated. Though given how Kiryu was basically wrecked afterwards, I think it's more than Godzilla no longer saw Kiryu as a threat and just left.

There was also that time when time travellers from the future turned King Ghidorah into a cyborg and brought him back in time to fight Godzilla.
4:54 4 Eras, 4 Origin stories, about 3 arch rivals, and just around 36 movies.
Oh and just so you know, Godzilla has been through 3 known changes of character, in the beginning he was straight evil, killing and destroying everything, Then he went complete 180, becoming a good child-friendly hero, and Now he is just a neutral force that takes care of problems/kaiju's that threatened him.
and he still destroys a few cities here and there for kicks
gotta keep a balanced routine ya know
He's been through more than just 3.
'54- neutral, force of nature
Showa- good, protector of Earth
Heisei- neutral, eternally grumpy
Millennium- neutral, similar to heisei, slightly more unpredictable
GMK- evil, sadistic and vengeful
Monsterverse- neutral/good, protector of natural order
Shin- true neutral, barely even reacts to things around him
Anime Trilogy- evil, destructive of all other life
@@tau-5794 yeah I know, but I just listed the most common one's so that kyle can have a basic understanding of his deep lore. I Honestly hope they bring back an Evil-destructive Godzilla, whether it's Animated or CGI.
@@tau-5794 shin is also more unpredictable when we look at him and overall the really depressing godzilla
Godzilla is almost never really a "good guy" even when he is fighting the evil monsters, this is usually for one of three reasons:
A: Godzilla has to assert his dominance over would be challengers to his position as "king of the monsters
B: the evil monster did something to piss him off and now Godzilla is out for revenge
C: the humans tried to fight the evil monster, failed and are now trying to manipulate/drive/lure Godzilla towards the evil monster as a last ditch effort, hoping they kill each other.
When you have the time, you should go ahead and watch the Monsterverse. There are currently four movies to watch in order:
Godzilla (2014),
Kong: Skull Island (2017),
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).
Enjoy! 😁👍
I got a good recommendation Shin Godzilla from 2016
Shin Godzilla is a terrifying modernization/remake of the first Godzilla movie from 1954
I forgot to mention that some of these movies have end credit scenes. Enjoy!
"I thought it was just 'oh I'm gonna attack all these people because I'm hungry'"

@Brayant Mtz. YEEEESSSSS!!!!!
@Brayant Mtz. yep
Monsterverse? Isn't that a Girl's Show?
The format of the vast majority of Godzilla movies in his 70ish years of existence is basically a vs match between Godzilla and another Kaiju. Sometimes the other Kaiju was from another movie but usually not. Most Gamera movies are structured similarly.
3:57
You thought Godzilla was just another monster? Oh my friend. You have to watch ALL of the Godzilla movies now. There is a reason why he is called the "King of the Monsters". And why the phrase, "what is a king to a GOD" is so accurate to GVK
The guy shaking Godzilla's hand was Ultra-man. A Japanese super hero who can grow huge.
The three headed monster is King Gidora, a space monster with a long standing grudge with Godzilla.

Never bet against Godzilla, King Kong did beat Godzilla but in that movie Godzilla actually killed Kong, only for Kong to be ressurected, with Kong only ever driving Godzilla into fleeing, not killing him in return. This was also a very early form of Godzilla, nowhere near as strong as he'd become later on in the franchise, whereas the Kong in that movie was the most powerful version of the character to date.
"How deep is the lore of Godzila? "

True fact, before this deathbattle released, their computers crashed, so they had to speed make everything all over again. Which is why the animation isnt as good as some of their other stuff from the same time period.
Also, I'm watching this after seeing the various monsterverse films. Kinda interesting how the battle played out in some moments. Lol.
you know, if you watch godzilla backwards he's just a giant monster helping to rebuild a city and then going to sleep in the ocean.
Fun fact: Godzilla is the longest running movie franchise ever.
At this point you should check out Cinnemasicare's Godzillathon for quick summaries and trivia for the godzilla movies. It is worth it!
Godzilla has a long list of enemies hes fought over the years in movies, manga and comic books. Hes faced aliens, mutations, giant robots and ancient gods, one time when he did die he said F U to heaven and when he got sent to hell they could not stop or contain him and came back to life
His most iconic enemy is his arch nemesis the three headed golden space dragon King Ghidorah
Godzilla has a lot of enemies ranging from giant mechs, alien 3 headed dragons, bugs and insects, dinosaurs and a mutant crab that spawns from the hydrogen bomb that killed the original Godzilla back in 1954
A plot device called the Oxygen Destroyer killed the 54 Godzilla.
Season 2 in death battle had some episodes that are beyond unexplainable and ridiculous to the extend. And Japan is weird.
Godzilla's enemies:
King Ghidorah.
MechaGodzilla.
Male MUTO.
Female MUTO.
MUTO Prime.
Shinomura.
Kumonga.
Destroyah.
Godzilla's allies:
Mothra.
Rodan.
Anguirus (Goji's best friend)
Behemoth.
Methuselah...
And other Titans who serves him.
@Brayant Mtz. That's a lot.
His Rival:
King Kong
Godzilla is a very versatile character throughout all 5 era’s he’s been in…
In the Showa era he went from being a metaphor for nuclear horror to a 60’s and 70’s action hero…1954
In the Heisei era he got a set stable continuity for a series of films…the 80’s to the 90’s…as a badass force of nature to take on other more dangerous threats…1989-1995
In the millennium era he had several different continuity’s with some unique experimentation for the time…weather it be serious, mid, or off the wall’s insanity…early 2000’s
In the reiwa era…his experimentation hit’s new heights as he’s gone from super evolution, to taking the planet from humanity, to being a multidimensional cosmic entity…to a incredible loose reboot of the original 1954 film…2016-2023
In the American monsterverse he’s a force of balance…an ancient predator keeping the world in check from other giant monsters…2014-2024
One things that always remained consistent…is his adaptability…power…and icon status as the king of the monsters…throughout all 70 years he’s been around…
I know Juan Reyes already posted this suggestion, but I'd also love it if you did a reaction series to Cinemassacre's s Godzillathon videos. It's a lookback of the history of Godzilla with a comedic edge to it, done by James Rolfe aka the Angry Video Game Nerd. That would be awesome.
How deep is the lore of Godzilla
Well the reboot it countless times that it mostly divide to era with it own lore now
Godzilla has a bunch of monsters and robots trying to kill him. His biggest rival is the three headed dragon.
I highkey would love to see Duck do some reactions to Godzilla videos, maybe something like the Cinemassacre's Godzillathon or the WikiZilla videos.
But of course only if he wanted to do it/enjoyed them.
The lore of Godzilla is incredibly deep, there have been 35 Godzilla movies, and multiple more not featuring Godzilla but focused on other monsters within the Godzilla universe such as Mothra, Gorath and the American 'Godzilla' that you watched. Probably the most famous other monsters are King Kong, Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and Mechagodzilla, though there's a heck of a lot more than that.
The Godzilla franchise has it's own mythos, an expansive universe and literally dozens of monsters (pretty sure it's over 50 in total), with the American Godzilla you saw (named Zilla) being pretty much the weakest monster in the entire franchise.
I could be wrong, maybe it just happens to not be in the playlist, but I *think* I recall that Batman VS Captain America is not available in some countries. It’s available where I am so that’s why I’m unsure about that but I remember hearing about it being unavailable. So if it is really unavailable for you, you can just go to the Rooster Teeth website, since it will be there. Also, important note:
Taking a quick look at the playlist you’re on, it’s probably not the greatest one to be using. It’s actually missing a few, like the first two episodes which you skipped most likely unintentionally. Boba Fett VS Samus Aran (Original, not Remastered) and Akuma VS Shang Tsung. Batman VS Captain America is obviously missing while there’s actually an episode that’s supposed to go in between Tigerzord VS Epyon and Deadpool VS Deathstroke. I’ll link you to this playlist here which has every episode: ua-cam.com/play/PLBJMmabffUkaT-PvtQ8VI5gPHe2UoCcin.html
I would link you to Death Battle’s official playlist, but that playlist is ordered from most recent to oldest instead of the other way around, and some of the fun of Death Battle is seeing what the next episode is for the first time.
That death Battle is available for me but this playlist was made by someone in Sweden so it might not be the same for him but it is next!
@@theduckgoesmoo I see. Well hopefully everything’s in order for the most part. You’re getting to the point where Death Battle starts getting *good,* and it’d suck for you to accidentally miss an episode because the playlist creator forgot to add it. But as long as you keep seeing the next time trailer instead of just what’s next on the playlist, you should be good. You did miss a few Season 1 fights, but that’s not too big a deal, though I would recommend going back to check up on Link VS Cloud.
@@kombatkid1289 He'll be watching Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged soon as well as playing the Legend of Zelda games for the first time also. So that Death Battle will be way later.
@@fireball1249 Ah, well if that’s the reason for him skipping that episode, I totally understand it then.

Also, the series is divided in 5 eras (Showa, Heisei, Millenium, Monsterverse and currently Reiwa).
Millenium has many continuities ( 2000, Vs Megaguirus, GMK, Kiryu Saga and Final Wars)
1) Anguirus - 2 wins, one in Showa and the other in Millenium (Final Wars)
2)King Kong - 1 lose, in showa. However, some believe this could have been a tie since in the Japanese version Godzilla is heard roaring in the end, implying he is alive and may have given up fighting Kong in the water
3) Mothra - 3 Wins, one in showa, two in Millenium (one in GMK and the other in Kiryu Saga). Keep in mind that he only defeated her adult form in all the fights, her larva offspring have defeated Godzilla twice, one in showa and the other in Millenium. Mothra also has a technical win in Heisei as she sealed him away
-Rodan - 1 Truce in Showa and 2 Wins, one being in Heisei and one in Millenium (Final Wars)
4)King Ghidorah, his arch-nemesis - 9 wins tho he needed help to do so. 4 times in Showa, twice in Heisei, one in millenium (GMK), one in Monsterverse and one in the Netflix Anime triology.
5)Ebirah - 2 Wins, one in Showa and the other in Millenium (Final Wars)
6) Kumonga - 2 Wins, one in Showa and the other in Millenium (Final Wars)
7) Kamacuras - 2 Wins, one in showa and the other in Millenium (Final Wars)
8) Gabara - 1 Win, in showa
9) Hedorah - 2 Wins, one in Showa and the other in Millenium (Final Wars)
10) Gigan - 4 wins, two in Showa and two in Millenium (Final Wars)
11) Megalon - 1 Win, in Showa
12) Mechagodzilla, his second most recurring enemy - 2 Wins in Showa, 1 Win and 1 lose in Heisei ( he was killed by MechaG in the movie but was ressurected and won later in the movie), 2 ties in Millenium (Kiryu Saga) and one 1 in Anime triology.
13) Titanosaurus - 1 Win, in Showa
14) Biollante - 2 Wins, in Heisei
15) Battra - 2 Wins, in Heisei
16) Spacegodzilla - 1 Win, in Heisei
17) Destoroyah - 1 Win, in Heisei. However, he later died because of overheating and exhaustiom from the fight so Destoroyah technically won in end.
18) Orga - 1 Win, in Millenium (2000)
19) Megaguirus - 1 Win, in Millenium ( Vs Megaguirus)
20) Baragon - 1 Win, in Millenium ( GMK)
21) Monster X/ Keizer Ghidorah - 1 Win, in Millenium (Final Wars). However, he needed help or else he would have died.
22) M.U.T.O couple - 2 Wins, in Monsterverse (killed both)

Here’s four fun facts about the other incarnations of Godzilla they didn’t add:
1) There’s an old manga before the early 2000s that showed that Godzilla is Barbarian and a master swordsman, Gamera however didn’t have any of those skills
2) Godzilla in Hell comics showed that Godzilla not only survived hell but he also literally killed both the Devil and God themselves and Gamera has never even achieved those
3) Godzilla in the Rulers of Earth comic he defeated a large group of Mechagodzillas in on his own and Magita was 1500 feet taller than him and Godzilla killed Magita on his own after going into overcharge and he was also tired
4) Godzilla is not only the largest Godzilla but also his beam when he was just 150 feet tall was strong enough to cut both the earth’s bed rock and mt. Everest in half in one beam and this was when he was young when he got older and larger his beam can now separate continents
If death battle included those incarnations of Godzilla, Gamera would not stand a chance
@@kaijunity Either way, if they released it in like say 2018 or 2020 the currently known amalgamations of Godzilla can easily trash Gamera’s currently known incarnations combined.
Out of all godzilla movies the ones you need and should probably want knowledge of are: gojira (1954), Shin Gojira, godzilla vs kong (the old one), and the monsterverse movies. Fun fact: there are 4 era's when it comes to godzilla movies:
- Showa (began with the original gojira vs king kong) the movies all though fun to watch, they have a lot of stupid moments
- Heisei (began with godzilla returns)
This, in my opinion, is the best era for godzilla films, most of the best godzilla movies are from this era.
- Millenium (started with godzilla 2000, not counting the 98' movie) this era, in a way, is like showa, so very fun to watch movies, but alot of stupid plot material
- Monsterverse ( started with godzilla 2014) explains it self, this is the current era.

I would seriously suggest you check out the 2014 Godzilla, along with Kong Skull Island and Godzilla King of the Monsters. I only just watched them recently and I can confirm they are a great time.
The first death battle I watched and still one of my favs. Also I forget if they said it but one time Godzilla's atomic breath sorta countered a black hole... somehow. And movies Godzilla aren't even close to some of Godzilla's most powerful versions which can do stuff arguably weirder than the black hole countering feat. Theres a anime Godzilla which is literally a giant plant and can DESTROY black holes and fight a time traveling 3 headed golden dragon creature (king Ghidorah). And comics Godzilla can destroy hell and become the lord of all angels and demons and also killed the god of his verse. And comics Godzilla also killed the entire Greek pantheon from ares to Zeus including the hydra dragon. And also the animation feels a lot different from when I first saw it.
The pure joy i find from people being exposed to whacky godzilla stuff is pure gold

@@theduckgoesmoo Go for it dude ;D
Here's a 2 hour summary of every Godzilla movie as of 2008, doesn't include a few cartoon series and his various comic adventures:
ua-cam.com/video/_a09OkoF0aw/v-deo.html
The Godzilla continuity has been rebooted a few times, usually ended with Godzilla's death. The first film or two is usually a solo endeavor, then the rest usually involve fighting other kaiju.
His rogue's gallery is wide and veried, from the three headed King Ghidorah, to giant moths, pollution monsters and King Kong (Kong had to very powered up from the original film to avoid being curb stomped, being a fifth of Godzilla's size).
Both Godzilla and Gamora has had releases in the West, but to my knowledge Gamora hasn't had any Western made movies. Also, many of Godzilla's Japanese movies didn't have contemporary US releases.
On a personal note, I have fond memories of watching the '78 animated Godzilla cartoon, and it's epic theme song.
I love the 1999 American gozilla animated series. It puts the God back in Godzilla
@@brandoncampbell9144 he’s talking about the 70s Hanna barbera Godzilla cartoon
Ah, Godzilla. The giant radioactive lizard that literally walked out of hell one time. (that is not a joke, read "Godzilla in hell" it is absolutely amazeballs).
19:10 Yes. Godzilla fought the heroes of the Marvel Universe.
Correction kaiser Ghidorah is not Godzilla's archnemesis it's king Ghidorah they are not the same monster but they belong to Ghidorah family.
I love watching people lose their minds upon discovering Godzilla lore through this fight
The lure of Godzilla's so deep not even let Mariana can handle
-How deep is the lore of Godzilla?
-Yes.
So here is why Godzilla hates all of humanity when the hydrogen bomb was dropped in the ocean it kill Godzilla's entire family left him severely scared and burned his body forever change and heavily mutated plus a never end since of pain and hunger for radiation
Godzilla: 37 Movies (+ Anime)
Gamera: 12 Movies
Well... Gamera has an anime now also it's been 3 years how's life been?
"That's the only godzilla movie I've seen." That hurt my soul a little bit.
(12:02) that’s King Ghidorah, Godzilla’s arch nemesis. Death battle got it wrong saying KAIZER Ghidorah was his rival. Kaizer is merely another member of King’s species. (On the plus side, Kaizer is confirmed by Toho to be stronger then king.)
"Who's out here fighting Godzilla?"
Anguirus, King Kong, Mothra, Ghidorah, Ebirah, Hedorah, Gigan, Megalon, Mechagodzilla, Biollante, Orga, Destoroyah, Megaguirus, MOGUERA, Spacegodzilla, Baragon, Kumonga, Kamacuras, Zilla, Destoroyah, the MUTOs... and on at least one occasion in the comics, the Power Rangers.
Thor is a mythological god, not just a Marvel character. You can't copyright a mythological thing like unicorns and goblins.
The Godzilla lore is crazy sometimes. King Ghidorah, the three headed dragon and Godzilla's arch nemesis, is said to fly from planet to planet and eliminates all life on it. And SpaceGodzilla was created when a giant moth goddess named Mothra flew into space and accidentally put Godzilla's DNA into a black hole. But I love the franchise so much and I'm happy to see someone get super confused over it.
Gamera’s fire breath is not nuclear, meaning it cannot feed of Godzilla’s radiation.
Fun fact: one of Gamera's Strongest Enemies (Iris) Can fly at an INSANE MACH 9, Despite being 99m tall, with a Weight of 19,999 Tons and can Extend his Tentacles to 1,999 metters in Lenght 😮, so Gamera has Fight an Crazy and deadly Monsters like Godzilla has to.
Let's just say up until this point, there are at least 32 existing Godzilla movies and an anime series, rebooting the timeline 7 separate times, not including his very first appearance and the era that it started. So yeah. The lore of Godzilla is DEEP.
I would like to point out that Godzilla only lost to King Kong back in the old movie was simply due to bullshit plot armor that shouldn't have existed smh
Also, Godzilla was less popular and also only seen as a full on bad guy at the time, so naturally the monke would be the favourite in that fight.
Trust me I've seen Bowser vs gamera and THE WAY GAMERA DIED WAS SO INSANELY BRUTAL Bowser literally stomped his legs to a bloody paste ripped off his jaw and became a big spike ball and impaled him!
yeah standing in the water is a kaiju physics thing apparently.
4:54
38 movies, 11 tv shows, a multitude of video games and a multitude of comics deep
And that’s not even talking about things such as extended universe fuckery, alternate universe fuckery, basic plot fuckery
Short answer, how much sanity are you willing to sacrifice?
Godzilla's most famous arch-rival is King Ghidorah! The legendary 3 headed alien dragon who has appeared in multiple videos through the years
*godzilla took on a meteor and a blackhole*
"thats cool."
*turtle fly at mach 3*
"I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!"
(good thing they didnt added big G's comic feats. why, you ask? well lets just say some gods and demons didnt have a good time...)
If u didnt know godzilla has ALOT of enemies and i mean ALOT he battled a giant gorilla,a robot ver of himself,a cyborg dinosaue from another galaxy,a monster created from garbage and almost killed godzilla by pouring acid on him, mind controlled giant dinosaurs, mutated insects,a devil looking mutant that killed his son so he had to explode to revive his son and kill his son’s killer which was so strong and so hot that it even killed him he also fought a giant-fast insect and he also fought a 3 headed dragon from space and fought a giant pterodactyle and fought his robot double many times and fought a mutated plant that was possessed by a girl (i think) he also fought zeus himself and he also went to hell and fought nightmarish versions of his friends and fought a ancient god that was actually possessed by aliens and even survived a meteor that hit godzilla directly at him and didnt even do damage to him and was still in the same position after the hit so yeah thats how tough godzilla is
It seems this death battle was quite a hurdle for the turtle. In terms of How deep the Godzilla lore goes: SHOULDER DEEP DUCK
Also so glad you are reacting to machinabridged. When I first watched it I knew nothing about Final Fantasy either, but dammit it's funny and I learned quickly. Just remember these words:
DON'T **** UP
This Godzilla is a mix of a bunch of different Godzilla's, but they didn't add any of the things from the more recent movies, or the comics. Reasonable, considering one of the comic iterations killed God. The biblical, almighty god.
Yeah, the moment he started questioning the big G's basic abilities I knew he only watched the Zilla movie.
the guy that is shaking Godzilla hand is Ultraman, and he is a superhero show from Japan just like with power rangers
ITS JET JAGUAR YOU SAUSAGE CONE
No that's jet jaguar
@@Black_ReaperKai sorry I thought he look similar to Ultraman my bad
You know it’s more like who isn’t fighting Godzilla these days
Godzilla's motivate for destroying a city is usually cause it was in his way. He's less destroying the city and more just walking and a city happened to be there. He doesn't really think of humanity as anything more than how we think of insects aka usually he doesn't think about us unless we're annoying him.
Hey! You should react to The Red, The Blu, and The Ugly. It's the sequel to Live and Let Spy if I remember.
