Why does your centrifugal pump motor get hot? In this video we will explore the causes behind overheating in centrifugal pumps, both surface and deep well, which are essential for diverse applications. Even if your equipment is in good condition and the connections are optimal, overheating can occur during initial startup or even after a period of operation.
The first key factor we must understand is proper management of the wastegate. When starting the pump with the valve fully open, the motor may experience a sudden increase in amperage draw and therefore overheat. This is due to the lack of dynamic head in the system, that is, the minimum pressure necessary for the pump to operate efficiently.
Counterintuitively, partially closing the valve when starting the pump can reduce current draw and prevent overheating. This is because the centrifugal pump requires system resistance to function properly. If there is not enough resistance (or dynamic load), the pump operates in low pressure conditions, consuming more power and generating excessive heat in the motor.
During the video, we perform hands-on testing showing how proper valve adjustment directly affects pump performance. From starting with the valve slightly open to adjusting it as the pipeline fills and the system begins to deliver the necessary dynamic head, each step influences the operating efficiency and life of the equipment.
It is essential to understand that a centrifugal pump cannot operate without adequate pressure. Opening the valve too soon or excessively can result in damage to the engine due to overheating, negatively affecting its performance and efficiency.
This video will not only help you understand the principles behind how centrifugal pumps work, but will also provide you with practical tips to avoid common problems such as motor overheating. Do not miss it!

Excelente video e información, muchas gracias ingeniero!!!
Gracias a usted!
Gracias ING.por enseñarnos
Muchas gracias
Excelente como siempreee
Muchas gracias estimado amigo.
Gracias a usted!

Excelente
Gracias ingeniero 👍
Gracias a usted!
Ruben saludo y gracias mil
Gracias a ti
