Lighting the Y: Views from Y Mountain

  • Thousands of people hike the Y mountain switchbacks each year to enjoy the spectacular views of the Brigham Young University campus, Provo, and Utah Lake. Hiking to the Y and lighting the Y are longstanding BYU traditions, dating back to 1907 when the 322 foot x 120 foot letter was constructed by students as a sign of campus unity.
