Did Oogway let Kai take his chi? Throughout Master Oogway's life he was forced to make many difficult decisions to attempt to keep China safe, but did that include allowing himself to be enslaved by his oldest friend? Why was Po the one destined to defeat Kai? It's time to fully explore and explain what may have been going.

Or or... as you said oogway knew he couldn't change kai. So he knew he had to wipe out kai completely but couldn't do it to his old friend so he had pass that obligation "destiny" to Po. So when he said "i have set another on that path" to kai. Is because he doesn't have the courage to finish his own friend.
That is why he only trapped kai in the spirit realm for so long is because one was he was waiting for another who is strong enough to defeat kai but also was debating in his self if he could just do it himself. Idk just a theory
Kai was probably the person nearest to being Oogway's equal the first time they battled but it is clear that in the five hundred years since then that although they both became stronger, Oogway had become much stronger than Kai.
Yes. Oogway is physically stronger, smarter and more skilled than Kai. But Kai is the only one to even come close to him in terms of the three.

@@robertevbayekha6639 Oogway defeated him in physical strength in their first fight. Kai may have taken more chi but in a raw fight, Oogway would smack him physically, if LOA is canon, it is shown that he threw Master Ding in a castle miles from the valley with a kick.

@@theshenpartei supposedly Tai Lung does give him redemption but with a couple of lines with Kai and Shen I don't know, some say they will have some relevance, a couple of scenes and others say they are just cameos without speaking

I think Oogway still loved Kai very much. He couldn't bring himself to fight his former closest friend who he considered family. He was in pain knowing that Kai was still down his deep dark hole. That's why he took thirty years to master chi. He was so hurt by having to kill Kai that he couldn't forgive himself. After years of spending time with Kai, he knew how strong, smart and skilled Kai was and that he would eventually break free and get to finish what he started.

Yeah. That’s a given. He has mastered all of Kung Fu and can do all of the things Kai can do and then some. He wanted Po to carry on his legacy.

I don't think this is quite right. I dont think Oogway "planned" all of this. I think that instead in his life he planted all the peace and goodness that he could and chose to have faith that his work would protect itself. If it wasnt Po it would be another, because the world Oogway made was one where people cared for eachother and, in the end, *that* was stronger than the direct prowess and greed of his foes.

What if tai lung was to be sent to the spirit world earlier to help keep Kai occupied longer so po had more time so crazy to think that oogway and so many factors planned he could have literally used them for anything

Oogway knows the panda want to be a dragon warrior they healed oogway. Oogway knows one panda wants to be a dragon warriors his name is po.

I'm sure that Oogway can't see the future. It's probably more like seeing wage visions (like when he saw Tai lung escaping) or seeing signs of how fate must play out. For me the idea that Oogway knew everything from kfp1 to kfp3 from the beginning makes no sense. He's not omniscient.

KFP has a genius script
aside from all the lore since they actually have this much story and detail even though it was meant for kids it attracted all ages of audience only giving more fame and money to this series, this is proof of a genuinely good series or movie, when you have teenagers, adults, children, babies, literally all ages enjoying it, yes including mlp as well, it may seem girly on the outside but the villains, background story etc. outside of the filler “friendship quest” episodes is as good of a masterpiece as KFP imo, unless your the discord mod brony theres alot of normal reasons to like mlp and be an adult male at the same time, like what you like fam

When you put it that way towards the end, Master Oogway seems kinda like Master Xehanort if he just also cared about the individuals, was above manipulating/using others, and was just generally more kindhearted overall.
i think oogway is the hardest dreamworks character to powerscale just because i don't think we've ever truely seen his full power

Oogway just didn’t bother trying to mess with fate and destiny
Sometimes there are things set in motion that will happen without you directly interfering. It looks the same as do nothing, but you are believing and knowing and calming down the the storm of rage and turning it into peace and tranquility in your mind and soul. Have a strong belief in god as well as the universe's karma both good and evil.
With Oogway's case he definetly loved Kai like a brother and he was probably tired mentally and wanted peace, and he already had chosen Po as the Dragon Warrior and believed he would succeed in more than just the Dragon Warrior because he saw his heart and love for kung fu since day 1.

Well, the short and more media themed answer is because they just wanted to make the movie longer and make Po fight and then the plot of the movie would be destroyed.
Let's be honest oogway had the entire trilogy planned out before Po was even born
How to make the best movie out of the 3.
1. At the start we should get backstory of the chameleon and have her story take place around the time shifu trained tai lung, their are bandits constantly robbing her, and her family made the chameleon hope for a champion. Soon she hears of a new student being trained at the jade palace. And eventually we get new story showing tai lung protecting the valley which he most likely did for a long time since both shifu and oogway felt no need for a furious 5. Anyways She keeps hoping that this new hero will come save her until one day tai lung actually does help her putting her full faith in him after this, of course until she hears that her hero betrayed the valley and attacked the people. This then caused the bandits to come back and likely caused a lot of chaos throughout the valley since tai lung was the only member actively protecting the valley. Feeling betrayed by her hero she then seeks out a way to train herself but is shut down by everyone not because of her size but because of her drive we will change it to her wanting revenge against the bandits which goes against the code “you are not supposed to go and pick fights with people just because you know they are bad it is only to protect the innocents.” So feeling even more betrayed she wonders home after her travels and stumbles across some witch hut place “idk trying to find an excuse for magic since there are literally no characters who have this” and she sees a lady performing magic, getting an idea she begs the witch to teach her and she eventually does. The witch teaches her defensive magic from a book that is basically for magic spells and doesn’t really harm people, the chameleon at this point is fine with this but is bothered she cannot learn from the forbidden section of the book. After this the chameleon forms a close bond to the witch and goes home to visit family, unfortunately she is confronted by the bandits again and while she is strong her magic can do nothing agains the bandits do to their numbers and she is defeated. She returns to the witch and begs her to teach her the forbidden magic but refuses and causes the witch to have to kick her out. Like Kai feeling betrayed by her closest friend comes back in the dead of night and steals the book, but is confronted by the witch who is then defeated by the chameleon using the forbidden magic and steals her magic, likely killing her in the process. This then leads the chameleon down the path of being power hungry absorbing the powers of everyone who wronged her or she deems evil. She saves other lizards throughout the valley and this is why she has the army of lizards they feel in debt to her since she saved them. Soon she hears of the new dragon warrior and his battles with tai lung, kai, and shen as well as many others. She however does not like this since the last time she put her faith in a so called “dragon warrior” it ended in disaster. She wonders how she will be able to defeat him since she knows at this point her magic isn’t strong enough. Until she hears about Po returning from the spirit world using his mystical staff, she knows if she can get that staff she likely will be able to congregate hundreds of evil warriors from beyond the grave so that she can absorb their power and become strong enough to defeat Po and bring true peace to the valley. She then gets the staff and like before summons all of those before, until she thinks of tai lung, when she brings him back she speaks to him and ask him “do you remember me? How you saved me all those years ago? Yes, you do, and I put my faith in you to protect me and my family and what did that get me? NOTHING!” As they battle Kai is shaken by this because he hasn’t thought about how his choice effected the people he saved since before he was blinded by rage but this Kai has had time to heal in peace knowing that he was defeated and there was nothing he could do anymore. This causes the slightest opening and she takes it to steal his powers.
2. Po and his friend as they travel begin to notice people that have fighting capabilities beyond that of a normal person and like how oogway picked the furious 5, poo goes on a similar path finding his own new furious 5. With the fox girl basically becoming the leader like Tigres was.
3. The reason the furious 5 where not in the story was because like po they all became masters. And since po was strong enough to handle himself and the valley they left to protect other valleys across China. This is why they needed a new furious 5 since while po might be strong he still is having issues keeping the valley 100% safe without exhausting himself.
4. After po and his new team defeat the chameleon he notices tai lung and vice versa, he sees how much he has changed and as his final act as dragon worrior offers tai lung the position. Tai lung stops and thinks about everything that has happened in his life, and thinks back to the moment he and po fought and po told him “there is no secret ingredient, it’s just you” and tai lung gets shaken, for the first time he thinks about what he truly wants and he tells po, “no, not right now at least. I’m… not ready for a responsibility that big after everything I did… po then walks up to him and tells him that is the same way he felt, the burden at the start was almost more than he could handle at times. But I have walked that path and if you’d like I can walk you through it, tai lung moved by this bows to po, while the other villians just roll thier eyes and ask “not to ruin the moment but can you send us back we are tired of looking at your happy little ending” as po apologizes and lets them go “it’s much better than how they all bowed because they 100% would not do this”.
5. We then see Po and tai lung at the ceremony to announce to the public the new dragon warrior, shifu and everyone is there and shifu looks at kai after everything and tells him the same thing from the first movie “I’ve always been proud of you” as Po tells tai lung to come out and announces that he is the new dragon warrior the people although kinda off put since they remember what he did all those years ago begin to come around as tai lung bows and tells everyone how sorry he is and that he will work every day to fix what he did all those years ago, tai lung gets nervous thinking that they still won’t accept him but he hears a clap, and then another, until the entire crowd erupts in cheer and he stands up and smiles as the movie ends.
4:08 - Wait, hol' up, why even bring that up?
That has nothing to do with Oogway, and there's no way he could've known about the massacre up until it happened.
The only ones that knew that the Pandas were going to be killed were Shin and his army.
4:25 - Again, that has nothing to do with Oogway, Oogway didn't know who the Dragon Warrior was going to be.
Back then it could've* been Tai Lung, it wasn't until many years later that it became apparent to Oogway that he wasn't.
Oogway didn't prophesied Po's arrival in the same way that Soothsayer did, he chose Po because he sensed great potential in him, probably through his chi and personal experience.
Oogway definitely made the right choice with Po as his successor

So why Kai did not use the Jombie Oogway and Tai Lung? That's a mystery and oversight that Kai might forgot or their chi is the one that sustain his existence in the living realm.
Simply Ogway use the common sense that everyone has limit to absorb energy so he gives his energy to Kai so that he should be already near to full of his capacity and when po send his whole Chi so Kai explode as ke was already full.😊

Maybe Oogway ley Kai defeat him because he knows that he will get more chi in the mortal realm and at the end Po the dragon warrior gave Kai chi because Kai wanted it and it was probably too much chi for Kai to handle because he was getting more chi right after he entered the mortal realm.

Obviously he let Kai win. Because he already knew what the outcome would be. Not every single step or how it was to be. But he knew what would be. He could have beaten Kai had he really want to. But he didn't want to, nor did he need to. Oogway gave the answer to Kai. He had sent another on that path. He knew.
Hypothetically how would PO stand up against oogway and how long would he last…I think he’d last like a few seconds maybe lol…in the spirit realm if he turned into that dragon again maybe a bit longer
Oogway could have given Kai a good beatin if he wanted to. It was pretty ovbious that he just stopped trying and let Kai take his chi because Oogway knows that its Po's destiny to stop him not him

Oogway himself referred to Po as his "successor", so if we were to give Po the exact amount of experience that Oogway has, he'll definitely would have the potential to become more powerful than Oogway.
