I binged all of TVD and The Originals after they were on streaming services and Legacies came out. Quite the universe they built!

Yup that's true.
Vampire diaries had the best depiction of vampires i've seen in any media , first 3 seasons were solid but being a cw show and a fanbase of mosty teenage girls stoped what could have been an awsome vampire show . It was mostly reduced to cw generic teenage love triangle storylines , the writing got really bad after season 3 .
I think Being Human (US) had better versions.

I know one of the a listers he is referring to is channing Tatum this was 2007 and was unknown..the first film i seen him in was..the fighter 2010
I understand that it's a terrible process but... studios have to cast just the right person or else it could cost them millions. Look at Back to the Future. They cast the wrong type of guy, filmed scenes with him and ended up firing him in the middle of production only to replace him with someone better.
So who auditioned for the part? Grrrrrrrr!

The Vampire Diaries was huge it's still is and it is one of the best TV show I've even seen. Beautifully written, the writers are the one that did the Scream films, the characters are extremely complex and layered, it's very psychological, the universe building is extraordinary, the acting was very demanding and the cast was absolutely stellar, one of those ensemble that happen once in a blue moon. It's like Star Trek where the fantasy is used to explore the nuances of human emotions in various life circumstances. During pandemic it was streamed 14 billion times, after 5 years that ended, and is in the IMDb list of the most watch show OF ALL TIMES ranking 17th. You clearly haven't seen the show and don't know how much this show is still incredibly popular around the world and the reasons why.
