Very useful video thank you! I have a 1975 Ryoji Matsuoka alto guitar, but for some reason the model number on the label is just listed as No. 30 (not T-30 nor 30R). Have you ever seen this before, perhaps just a typographical error?
This is common with guitars pre-1975. Remember: the number was just the suggested retail price. The letters were introduced later to distinguish the various versions/sizes.
Hi Sir. I don't know if you will find my comment but please, I would like to know the name of the model you show at 08:38 : I could not hear the name ! I'm a middle size old lady, left hand player, and I absolutely adore the sound of this guitar strung with the gut-like strings making it sound like a lute. I would like to play ancient music on that guitar... if I can find one ! 🙏Millions of thanks in advance !!!
although it’s a bit late the guitar seems to be an “alto guitar”, or if that doesn’t give you any results online maybe search up a mexican “requinto” as thats what an alto guitar seems to be. Although I don’t know where to find gut strings for a requinto, I know the brand “Pyramid” makes guitar gut strings, although they do come at a hefty price tag. I really do hope this helped you and you found what you were looking for!
Very interesting. l tuned in because l am thinking about buying an Asturias, but the detail in your post was great. l like the sound of the alto. Are you familar with the Asturias A8? lt's a bit of a long drive to view one, but l'm tempted, especially as it's signed by Masaru Matano.l haven't tried an Asturias before. l'm looking to upgrade to something more responsive. Greetings from England, Jonathan.
Yes I have. I will upload them as son as I have time. All my guitars have been customised so even the standard models sound as good if not better than the handcrafted ones. Most of my guitars were made 40-50 years ago so they were all handcrafted.
Very in depth thank you.
